  1. They burn those ice coolers and wipe down with each shut down, seen them close some over time as they switch to another.
  2. Couple days ago, we booked 30 days, Seattle to Brisbane SHIP: CARNIVAL LUMINOSA SAILS TO: (Start)SEATTLE, KETCHIKAN, ICY STRAIT POINT, CRUISE HUBBARD GLACIER, CROSS INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE, KUSHIRO, AOMORI, TOKYO, HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI, PUERTO PRINCESA, BITUNG, BRISBANE SAILING ON: SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 (Start) RETURNING: OCTOBER 15, 2023 (Finish) CLOUD 9 SPA BALCONY CABIN $100pp Yup, $200 total plus port fees and taxes are like $550 total, so we're all in for about $750 I also have free drinks everywhere (wife doesn't drink) Airfare will be the killer, but so worth it Be our longest trip ever. We are a bit concerned about what do we do? Do they plan special things for these longer cruises, like special menus and shows?
  3. They actually are really good cake. Not store bought sheet cake tasting plain ol' boring white cake. It's good stuff
  4. Yes, I have had cake for lunch. I am guilty.
  5. Maybe I used the wrong title? Can I edit that? Maybe it should have read "Who's done a trans-atlantic/pacific repositioning cruise?" How does it vary from a regular cruise, other than the number of days?
  6. Yes, and neither my wife or I drink, but I do drink soda, coffee and I like virgin drinks like the frozen mango smoothie, it's damn good w/o alcohol.....and she's a weirdo who only drinks water.....cheap date. So I get the cheers package through the casino ship-wide (only way I'll do it) and I usually get her water, wait a few and then get my drink. If it's really busy and you have a dollar bill or two in hand, I can get both at once. Especially being both are non-booze, I don't think they GAS.
  7. Paranoia, sure, agreed. Aggression? I disagree.
  8. I'd be totally down with a 420 bar....Maybe like those O2 bars with the nose inhaler thing. Til then, vapes, edibles and drink powder works
  9. I am confident this is less about profits and more about behavioral issues. Control. It's illegal to consume your own alcohol when flying for the same reason, behavior, as well as it's a safety issue....drunk people can get in the way in an emergency or can create one. People getting hammed in their cabin and then go out looking for a good time or a fight. I don't drink, but I did, and I see the problem and this is the only way to address it other than cutting everyone off sooner, and no one wants that, right?
  10. Can you REALLY stream Netflix or other streaming services on their max plan? What about if outside of the US? Like Caribbean or elsewhere?
  11. I have been looking at the "old" photos and there's even a review from April this year, which had to be right before she went in for the refit. Thanks for your help, that all makes sense
  12. I am sure many of you have done trans-Atlantic/Pacific, but we haven't. We've never cruised longer than 10 days. Wife and I booked the Luminosa 30 day Transpacific. Seattle to Melbourne Here's my questions....BTW, I doubt anyone REALLY knows the answers, so best guesses are fine. How do you think the menu will work? Same thing over and over, like "every monday is Italian, every tuesday is fish" Do you think it'll change as we go to other ports, like in Japan? How many "formal nights?" Do they discount laundry for longer cruises like this? Have laundry special sale days? Same with Spa? I got a Cloud 9 balcony, so we'll have plenty of time to use the spa amenities and the therapy pool (tontolassoloneranger pool). Lots of sea days, just sleep? Chill? It's during school year, mid-Sept to Mid Oct (2023), so safe to say not too many kids will be aboard, yes? When y'all have done the long ocean crossings, what is the average clientele? Upper-middle age to older? I imagine the crowd is more mellow, less hard parties? Mostly retirees? Staff treat you different, knowing they'll see you every day for a month? Same with cabin stewards? (Yes, post covid, things are different) Casino pretty dead? 30 day bankroll is a lot of cash. Same shows over and over? Do they try to do new and different things, knowing it's such a long cruise? I think at some points we have 4 and 5 sea days in a row. Basically, we both excited and concerned about such a long cruise....what to do, how things will work. Never been on any vacation that long. Cool part is, my BIL lives in Australia, so we have someone to visit and places to go once we arrive. What's also crazy is that Luminosa is so "Carnival New," there's no photos, not even on Carnival's website. Thanks for all your help and edumucated guesses
  13. I put $1-2 on the ticket I have to sign. Amount depends on the drink. .Bottle of water to bartender vs waitress and a poured beverage, for example.
  14. What do you plan to play? What's your budget?
  15. Just booked the 30 day TP SHIP: CARNIVAL LUMINOSA SAILS TO: (Start)SEATTLE, KETCHIKAN, ICY STRAIT POINT, CRUISE HUBBARD GLACIER, CROSS INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE, KUSHIRO, AOMORI, TOKYO, HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI, PUERTO PRINCESA, BITUNG, (Finish) BRISBANE SAILING ON: SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 (Start) RETURNING: OCTOBER 15, 2023 (Finish) CLOUD 9 SPA BALCONY CABIN I'm pretty pumped. These are all first time stops for us, so it'll be a great scouting trip for future travel plans. (Like, "Is it worth coming back for a week or so?)
  16. Thanks for these quick responses. How is the shopping? My wife loves shopping but of course she wants everything cheap. She like jewels and upscale stuff.
  17. I am doing some research on maybe going to Bermuda on a last minute deal and remember that they have some odd or special rules? If ship is there three days, is it tied up the entire time to walk on and off? What are all the Bermuda secrets and need to know things? I've been on a bunch of cruises, so it's really what makes this stop different? No cars, right? Only golf carts? Is it walking friendly? Help, please. Thank you so much for any help
  18. Isn't AIDA German and a German speaking cruise line
