  1. The poster is saying that despite what this says she is being charged for anything above 12.00 (the difference). She paired three days ago and today I asked her and they are still doing it.
  2. Cutoff date was December 14, and the "new" package came into effect after February 20. You should be fine.
  3. Hi all, So I know this has been talked about extensively, especially on another post I wrote a while ago. However, cruisers are posting on other social media sites that they have been held to the 12.00 drink limit....In fact, one cruiser was enjoying up to the 15.00 limit for the first two days, and then suddenly they started being charged for everything over 12.00. This is on the Regal, and it was posted as a warning to the other cruisers. She even mentioned going to Guest Services where they were told, "Sorry you have the old package". Also, she has been posting MDR menus, and the up-charge for steak or lobster is 29.00 and for Surf and Turf 45.00 (menus posted here are 19, 19 and 29). Anyone else experience this? Just trying to be prepared or see if I need to upgrade. TIA
  4. Hi all, We a cruise booked directly with Princess. Final payment is at the end of the month. The price of the cruise has gone down slightly. I am considering using a TA to book and wondered what my options were. 1. Can I transfer bookings made with Princess to a TA? 2. If I can't and the TAs quote is worth it, I would cancel what I have (refundable deposit) and make a new booking. Could I do this? If the OBC is decent enough I may save money by buying standard package and paying PLUS or PREMIER on board. 3. If the booking is made by the TA (not big box), would I be able to bid for an upgrade? 4. Will I have access to my personalizer, etc if I use a TA? Thank you all in advance for your help. This is our first Princess Cruise.
  5. @HaveDogWillTravel and @Cruise Raiderthank you for the review. I am curious, on the drinks menu that @HaveDogWillTravel posted, some of the spirits in the "Included with Premier" are under the 15.00 limit, but don't appear on the "Included with Plus". Curious to know if they would be allowed with the Plus with no surcharge. (I guess at some point they might go up in price, but for now?). Have a great cruise.
  6. Thank you @caribill. I stand corrected. So the difference is even less, 29.00.
  7. @konatymekeep in mind I have yet so sail Princess (first time this summer). But this is how I do my math (all prices per day, per person). Plus package includes one device WIFI, Plus drinks package, Crew Appreciation. WIFI is 15.00 a day, and Crew Appreciation is 14.50 a day (the category I chose), which comes to 29.50 a day, leaving the remaining 30.50 for the drinks, and the two desserts. This is less expensive than both the "Zero Alcohol Package" and the Plus Beverage Package". So if you were considering either of these packages then Plus would be the way to go. Now how much would you have to drink to make that limit. If you drink alcohol, the lowest priced drinks (last menus I saw before any of the anticipated price jumps) is ~7.50-8.00, with gratuities this would be ~8.85 - 9.44, So for the lower end drinks or beer, you would need around four drinks a day, if you went to the limit of 15.00 for the drinks, then you would break even with two. This is IF you did not drink anything else, like sodas, coffee or bottled water. Once you start to add those, then you break even with fewer alcoholic drinks. Hope this helps.
  8. Thank you so much for this information. Marked my calendar!
  9. Hi all, I have a shellfish allergy, but I can eat (and really enjoy fish). To my dismay, seeing some of the menus I see things like fish with cold water shrimp, or salmon with lobster cream. It seem like plain fish (as in without shellfish, I don't mind sauces as long as they don't have shellfish) is hard to find. My question is, can one order fish without the shellfish? Safely? Any help appreciated so I can prepare. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi all, Arriving in Southampton, and we are thinking of taking the train to Waterloo, as this is where our hotel is located. What time can I schedule the train for considering the time needed for disembarkation? TIA
  11. @Rick&Jeanniethank you for the response. We would be wanting to charge 2 cellphones, tow watches and we have to connect a cPap machine. We already hace the Europe adaptors, so I wondered if with the US one (which we also already have) and the Europe one we would have enough connection. Not sure what you mean by “pass through European”….
  12. Hi all. We are sailing on the Regal Princess in the summer. I am wondering about what I will be able to fit into the outlets. I have seen pictures where there is a US type Plug and also a Europe type plug. Would I be able to fit multiplugs in both? Like would I be able to fit the two adaptors (one of the europeans and the US one) shown in the pictures simultaneously?
  13. We went to Bruges on a day trip from Brussels and really enjoyed it, so unless seeing Brussels is a must for you, I would stay in Bruges. We walked around the plazas in town which are lovely. We did the canal boat. If you are interested in art, you can visit The Church of our Lady to see the famous Michelangelo sculpture Madonna and Child (https://www.visitbruges.be/highlights/churchofourlady). You can also visit the Church our Holy Blood. You can eat mussels, fries, chocolate and drink beer. They also have a lovely park you can spend time at. You will have a great day.
  14. @TN-Mountainsand @startedwithamouse thank you for the information. I was having a lot of trouble with seeing my booking on the website and was not able to see it. Thank you!
  15. @ROWSEI am curious about your tour with Thistle Excursions. We booked the same tour as you. In the confirmation email they mentioned they don't do a dedicated lunch stop, and suggest we bring food from the ship. Is that what you did? Thank you for your lovely review.
  16. I see people recommending the soda packages. Do these include smoothies or some type of juices? I know some other cruise lines include "specialty non alcoholic drinks" but I see no such package being offered for my cruise.
  17. Looking for lunch recommendations for Kinsale, where our tour will make their lunch stop. Thanks in advance
  18. HI Nattie, You have planned a busy trip! Last summer I spent 32 nights on a land trip to Europe, the last 7 nights were on a cruise of the greek isles. In 2014 I went to Turkey. I say this to give you some perspective. For me private or small group tours are the way to go. So good job on that. In Rome, we did the Catacombs tour (with Walks of Italy, I think we are referring to the same company). We really enjoyed that tour and it was definitely a surprise. I am not sure where the river cruise would be, but to us the river did not look too enticing. If it were me, I would switch things up a bit and do the catacombs on day 1, and Borghese on the day you leave for the cruise in the morning. On day 2, consider a trip to Ostia Antica from Rome. I think your son might enjoy that a lot. I agree that the Naples days is too busy. Pompeii is huge. And HOT. And I live in the Caribbean, so we are used to hot. So I would choose either Pompeii or Herculaneum. Maybe see a bit of Naples, or just have a relaxing pizza lunch. In Crete I also agree you need a guide for the Palace of Knossos. Heraklion is nice to walk around, be sure to try a Bougatsa. We had a really short time in port and wished he had more time in Heraklion. Mykonos is really lovely to walk around. We used a private tour that showed us around the island and then took us to Delos, and gave us a guided tour of Delos. I highly recommend them and can send you info if interested. Our tour started at 2:30 pm (so if what I saw in the comments above about the time you arrive in port is correct, then it might work for you). The water can be very choppy around Mykonos so if anyone gets seasick bring medication or patches. In our case we arrived at this port in the morning, and left really late. In the morning we took the bus the most famous beach and were really disappointed. We had to sit on a rock because the entire beach front was occupied by private clubs that shared 60€ for two chairs and with a minimum consumption of 20 € pp for third row chairs. The water was also cold, and there is no sand, just pebbles... Kusadasi is a great port, great that you included the terrace houses. Athens. Since you have free time, you might consider a day trip (or half day) to Corinth. We did this privately as well. I can recommend the company if you would like. Enjoy your cruise!
  19. We hired a private tour with Levent Solmaz in Kusadasi in 22. It was just six of us but the van could accommodate up to 15 people for the same price and it was 365.00 USD. This did not include entrance fees, but on the actual date he did not charge for any of the entrance fees. He was a great guide. We went to the House of Virgin Mary, Ephesus (including the Terrace Houses) and did a stop at a leather shop. It was a great day.
  20. I’m all for tasting the local cuisine. But the the shore excursion included this in their instructions: Lunch/Snack We do not set aside a specific time or place for you to eat but there are cafes or takeaways at some of the venues we visit. However to save time you may wish to bring with you a packed lunch which you could eat on the vehicle during periods of travel over 30 minutes.
  21. I mean we would be in Edinburgh since around 10:00 am, and see the Johnnie Walker tour at 14:00 (1.5 hour tour) and by the time we peruse gift shop leave at 16:00 h). All aboard would be 19:00 h. Would the three hours be enough from leaving the Johnnie Walker Princess street location, and make it back to the ship, it being a tender port.
  22. Hi all. We are booked on a Princess Isles cruise in the summer. On one of the tours, the vendor wrote there isn't a dedicated meal stop and suggest we might bring food from the ship for lunch. Is this allowed on princess ships? On to my second question, will we be allowed beer (think Guiness) on board (I realize it will be confiscated until the end of the trip)? Also, I read the policy is that beer and liquor will be discarded at the embarkation port. Is this true of one way journeys? Thank you in advance.
