  1. A plain, simple, "little black dress" is always appropriate. It can be dressed up or down depending on what you accessorize it with. Jewelry, scarves, shawls, shoes, can all change how the dress looks. My last cruise I took one black dress (very simple style) and wore it several times.
  2. We will be on the Sky next summer. We like Crooners on other ships. What would be a good bar for our before and after dinner drinks?
  3. I would go on the Sun. Supposedly the casino on her will be the biggest one on a Princess ship. Save your $1000, more $ to play with in the casino.
  4. We haven't done it, but I don't see why not. I like that idea.
  5. We have booked premium economy several times through EZair, and not paid until final payment. That was with Air Canada.
  6. We disembarked Zuiderdam on Saturday Sept 9 and got the emailed survey yesterday, Sept 11.
  7. We just got off the Zuiderdam. Show times were 7 and 9 pm.
  8. We just got off the Zuiderdam and every evening before dinner we had drinks in the Ocean Bar. There was a trio playing in there. It was nice having the live music.
  9. Won't the taxi drivers know where to take us? Every time I have cruised from anywhere, the taxi always takes us where we need to go. I'm hoping it will be the same for Quebec City.
  10. Hope you have a wonderful trip and that hurricane Franklin doesn't effect you. When you disembark, we embark. Can't wait!
  11. We did a Hawaiian cruise from Vancouver in April and our last port before we returned to Vancouver was Victoria. Several people who lived on Vancouver island mentioned that they had asked if they could disembark in Victoria and were told no. I think it was something to do with customs/immigration.
  12. We got an email from our cruise line that there is lots of construction and bad traffic in Boston and it could impact our ability to get to the airport. The cruise line is suggesting that we use their transfer busses. We disembark on a Saturday and our flight home is not until 2:30pm. Any advice or info will be appreciated.
  13. We use the HAL laundry every cruise we take with them and have never had anything ruined. The only thing I don't send out are my bras. Those I hand wash. We really miss HAL's laundry service when we sail on Princess.
  14. You get double points for a vista suite
  15. I think you might have had the same cruise director we had on our recent Hawaiian cruise. I am not sure of her name, ( maybe Christine?) but she was excellent and very visible.
  16. Our daughter and son-in-law cruised in July in the Med. It was HOT!!! The temps were in the high 30's to low 40's. Our son-in-law ended up with heat stroke after a strenuous excursion. My husband and I have been in the Med 5 times. We were there in April, October, November and December and always had nice weather. The least crowded time was in December - it was great. The temps are nice for touring, with maybe only a light jacket needed.
  17. Thank you VMax, I wondered if that was the case.
  18. We are 4 star and have been to the wine tasting several times. Yes, you will get an invitation a day or two before. On my upcoming cruise I will be sailing with my mom and sister who are both one star. We are all in the same cabin. My question is, will they be invited to the wine tasting with me? Or will I go alone?
  19. It was worth it to us. No waiting to be seated for meals, same waiters each time, great mid ship mini suite. Loved it.
  20. We always take a battery operated tea light and put it in the bathroom at night. Gives just enough light to see what you are doing, not too bright to wake you up.
  21. The CPAP machine is required by people who have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is stopping breathing while you sleep. The machine prevents this from happening. It is therefore considered a necessary medical device.
  22. We were on the Koningsdam in April and we could not make dining reservations on the app for the MDR. We asked about making reservations for the MDR and we were told to make them at the kiosk that was located midship on either deck 2 or 3 (can't remember which). When we asked there, the only times we could make reservations were really early like around 5:30, or late like 8:30. That was the same for any day. So we would just show up at the MDR at whatever time we wanted. Sometimes we waited for a table, sometimes we got in very quickly.
  23. Change your flight to the day earlier. So many things can happen to make you miss the ship. If your flight is delayed, if your flight is cancelled, if there's bad traffic between the airport and Civitavecchia, etc etc. And you mention the airline you are flying on only has one flight per day. What are you going to do if that gets cancelled!? If you were going on a major carrier there is a chance you could move to another flight, but not if you are on the only flight they offer. Change to a flight the day earlier, stay at an airport hotel over night, catch the shuttle to the port the next day. It will cost you more money, but it will buy you more likelihood of making your cruise, and therefore some peace of mind. That is money well spent.
  24. No. But some credit cards don't charge a foreign exchange fee.
  25. You can buy an unlimited laundry package. The price will depend on the length of your cruise. I think it is $9.00 per day of cruise. Or you can buy it by the bag. As much as you can stuff into a sturdy canvas bag for $30. (prices are approximate but they are a ballpark price) HAL does a great job on the laundry and we have never had any issues with damage or shrinkage. We are 4 star mariners now and the best perk is free laundry!!
