  1. I was just thinking, I have been so invested in cruising, especially since I retired, I keep wondering if there's something wrong with me. I do enjoy it, though. Which brings me to this most recent turn of events. I'm not NCL's best customer, I'm sure....not by a long shot. Lots of folks in these threads have sailed NCL way more than me. So, would NCL make an offer like that if I were a first time cruiser and had a similar accident? Or, do they actually care? I have posted here in the review. Maybe NCL saw it, maybe they didn't. I have to believe they have probably an entire dept that reviews any passenger accident that requires a trip to their Medical facility. I am assuming they read my statement at the time I originally made it. Thus, they reached out vs just letting it go. Probably some of it was done to mitigate any legal ramifications. But, they have not asked me to sign a waiver to get the discount, either. I can only assume it's a combination of concern (for a middling customer), CYA and fear of legal actions. I never threatened nor suggested as much. Recovery? Still sore..still black and blue... just a little less so than 10 days ago. I was spying a Virgin cruise, an MSC cruise, and now an NCL cruise. Which gets me back to my original statement. I think I have a problem. I have to book on NCL by this time next year to get the discount. Virgin seems to have high fares, but I have to figure out with the perks how that affects total out of pocket. Last few times I've checked MSC, their fares are roughly the same as NCL's. Royal fares have been high for the last couple of years. Not sure why, except they've been cranking out new ships...Wonder, Icon, Odyssey. Celebrity fares are high, too. Discount pushes me back to NCL GF isn't nearly as enamored with cruising as I am. She'll go. She's moe of a "staycation" person, though. That's well and good. I sail wherever, whenever I have a chance, however.
  2. I’d probably get the “side-eye” look from crew while mumbling under their breath….”that klutz is the reason we’re using hair dryers on the floor to keep it dry”! I’ve been looking…kind of have my eye on the Joy sailing from Quebec! Have to wait to see what the smarter half thinks!
  3. So….embarkation times from earliest to latest go as follows… -Haven and mobility impaired -Latitudes Members starting with Ambassador then Diamond, Sapphire, Platinum followed by the rest of Latitudes levels -Then those with no Latitudes status who are assigned boarding numbers which wiill be called in succession! The rest? Do your Muster Check in and go to restaurant reservation desk.
  4. So, got the answer I was waiting for. The NCL rep did seem genuinely concerned, or it could indeed be CYA. I'd like to believe it's the former and NCL cares. He did say these incidents are reviewed at HQ and wanted to hear my recounting of the events. They were no different than what I relayed to Medical on the ship. They took pics, but I had the wherewithal to take my own...more for posting here in the review to whine and try generate your sympathy (and y'all failed me....LOL!). NCL rep asked if I would email them, so I did. NCL just responded. xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx Re: Norwegian Prima Voyage of 2/2/2024 Dear xxxxxxxxx: Thank you again for speaking with me yesterday. 5. The Guest Service Co-Ordinator agreed that he felt is was "unusual" for the Medical Center to "quiz" me about my A) Sobriety B) My willingness to pay for their services given the circumstances He also said all crew are trained to help injured or sick passengers. He seemed most disturbed that no one in the Local offered to get a wheelchair and take me to Medical. I'm not going to speculate. But, if that's how they're trained, I think they may need to give them a "refresher" course. Because, that's not what they did....not even remotely. He asked how I got to Medical. I told him it was a combination hop on one leg, a hobble to not lose my balance again and a weird new dance that should be ™ by me. I thought I was being funny. It sounded like he was taking down my description word for word, though. Still kind of surprised they reached out. Usually, once you're off the ship and the final bill is paid, that's all you get. Your time with them is over...until next time.
  6. Well...just got off the phone with NCL HQ. Someone who sounded official. I didn't catch the title but he sounded quite official and conciliatory. As I told him..."that's why they call them 'accidents'! Anyway, he said NCL wanted to do something for me. I said "free cruise"? He chuckled and also said probably not. But, he said he'd come up with something good. I'll assume he means cookies and hash browns. He's supposed to drop something to me via email today. I see this happening somewhere along the lines of "here's a couple of bucks of OBC. But, you have to sign this paper absolving us of any further legal action". Or, something to that effect.....
  7. I’m excited for you! And, you’re right. Value equation is different for everyone.
  8. Yep…usually cash games start around 8-9 p.m. If you see guys sitting at the table with sunglasses on or have some little trinket sitting in front of them, or are trying to tell others how to play, you know you’re going to have a good night!!
  9. Personal thing....I have "bought" VIBE passes twice. Once on the Breakaway and once on the Escape. I think the most I paid was $150 0r $160. I thought that was expensive but was willing to pay as I was staying in an inside room on both. Then, it started to skyrocket. I found I'd rather take that money and book a nicer cabin. Last I checked, the cost was $230PP on a 7 nite cruise. That seems a bit much for a lounger and hot tub for a week. I can always get a drink in the wealth of bars on board.
  10. Low bid? For Haven? That would be a tough get as the Haven usually sells out quickly. Throw it out there. Worst that can happen is you don't get it.
  11. That's exactly what it is...CYA! I doubt they are going to offer anything more than "we're sorry it happened". I'll take that. I wasn't expecting anything to begin with.
  12. We just had a thread here not too long ago by a person who was mad because they didn't get an upgrade after bidding the minimum. If you think the minimum bid is not worth the upgrade, then you really won't like the price that would secure an upgrade. Fact is, I doubt very seriously the minimum bid will get you and upgrade....on a new ship.....on a Med cruise. Is it worth it? We can't answer that. Only you can.
  13. Didn’t expect this, but received a phone call from NCL “Guest Experience Co-ordinator” regarding my injuries sustained while doing a header via the puddle at The Local.. Gave him the verbal experience that ai relayed to onboard medical and security personnel on the Prima. They seemed concerned and asked if they could get back to me tomorrow! OK…sure!
  14. Have done all 3.....Haven, Retreat, YC. All are good. You can nitpick a minor difference here and there, but overall, they all do a great job. To me, it all comes down to price. MSC Yacht Club used to be the clear leader compared to the fares of the other two. Now, they are priced more or less about the same. Today, Retreat fares have sky rocketed. They are now $x,000 more than either NCL or MSC. Again, go for the best fare among the 3 for the itinerary and dates you're interested in.
  15. You know, I never thought I'd see the day where people wanted even more food on a cruise ship. Yet, here we are. Now excuse me, I need to go load up on bacon from the Garden Cafe!
  16. Italics above….spot on. Leave yourself time for a contingency flight in case yours is cancelled or delayed. But, it you’re cutting it that close, you can’t plan that!
  17. Frankly, those are the kind of stories I dismiss out of hand. No criuse lines HQ would ever disseminate that information, even if it were true (which I doubt). These sorts of "I heard it through an anonymous crew member...". Now, the crew being in the dark is very believable....for the very same reasons. If there's one industry where wild, unfounded speculation runs rampant, it's the cruise industry.
  18. Whoa boy.....going from SEA to the Pier? I've done that trip 4-5 times. Regardless of time of day or day of week, construction really puts a huge damper on travel times. forewarned is forearmed. There are just a lot of red flags here. And, I'm a proponent of doing in the "day of". SEA is one of the few airports/piers I WON'T try that.
  19. Yep! Generally speaking, the earlier the "check in time" the longer the wait to board. As pointed out, check in and boarding times are two different things.
  20. No sweat with me. But, saying "Americans" have no idea of what a biscuit is, I don't quite understand. Hell.....they have biscuits and gravy at every Mickey Ds in the country (maybe the world). I think we all know what biscuits are. I got a heart shaped cookie for Valentine's Day. Was that not a cookie I ate? I guess I can't follow the points you are trying to make with "Americans".
  21. Oooohhhhh...I'd take those over cookies any day!!!!!
  22. Found some in a kiosk outside of CoCos but n the Indulge food area on the Prima a couple of weeks ago! Granted, they were chocolate chip. But they were always there! But, there was also some other freshly made deserts in the kiosk that I preferred over the cookies. Matter of fact, the cookies were pretty far down the list compared to the other deserts available! I’m having a hard time understanding the broohahah about finding cookies. I love me some cookies. But, I’d much rather bring some oreos in my carry on than go searching for cookies on ANY cruise line! There are plenty of other much better desert options on board!
