  1. We actually arranged a 1/2 day excursion for 45 euro a person with a deposit of 15 euro. We noticed on the website that they had 1/2 day excursions for cruise ships so we sent an email in french explaining which excursion we wanted and they responded immediately. Google translator was definitely our friend. They do have English speaking ship operators. So if anyone wants to try this company for a half day excursion, send them an email in french explaining what you want. They've been very responsive to questions. My french is very rudimentary and i let them know my husband and i really need English speaking people on boat and they have assured me they will. So far it's just my husband and I from the summit in april. I'll write up my experiences when we return.

  2. does anyone know which stop you would get on for either piers (RCCL or the main one)? We are leaving from San Juan on the Celebrity Summit and I wanted to explore forts before our ship leaves. I thought we would "check in", since we are arriving in Puerto Rico at 9am, then go back out to San Juan and explore. I still can't figure out which port we are leaving from so I figured I would ask if the trolley was near both ports.

  3. You can show up and pay for day pass. You will have to Google the taxi rates. We paid $18 one way total for a family of 6. And its about 15 minutes.

Here is what they sent me in an email:

Thank you for contacting us about your upcoming vacation. We do offer day passes and day rooms based on availability.

    DAY PASS

The cost for the day pass would be $35.00 USD per adult and children 17 and under are complimentary with a paying adult.

The day passes entitle you to:

    • Use of the facilities including 3 pools and beach

    • Use of beach cabanas and lounge chairs by the beach and at the pool

    • 15% discount on treatments at the Emerald Mist Spa

    • 10% discount on food and beverage at Bohemia Pool & Beach Bar, Calypso Café, Calypso Restaurant, and the Pizza Shack

    • 10% discount in Pronto Gift Shop

You do not need to make reservations or confirm in advance. If you would like to utilize the facilities, please stop by the front desk upon arrival and they will issue the day passes to you.

    DAY ROOM

The cost for the day room would be $125.00 USD plus 24.5% tax and service charge for the day. It includes the room for the day and access to the property for two adults and two children. It entitles you to the same benefits as the day pass listed above.

I did double check the taxi rates. We did pay $18 each way for a total of $36 not including tip. I will say that the beach is huge. I did not notice much seaweed. Waves were nice. And I did see fish when I snorkeled (I have my own gear but you can rent there). There is a reef to the left and my husband and I saw a lot. Pool was nice. Drinks were decent. There's a Ram's food mart 1/2 mile away. I really liked it there and so did my family of 2 teenagers and 2 20 somethings; plus my husband.

  4. Looking to book with this company as well. Disheartened to hear they expect you to fill up their tour for them.

Anybody else have any experience with them?

Actually, my husband emailed them again and translated the email into french asking for 1/2 day catamarran 3 1/2 hours to northern area to sail. Apparantly there are dolphins in this area that you don't swim with but they are all over. We did get a response immediately and we ending up reserving through paypal 2 spots for 30 euros ($15 each). The total is 45 euros each. We owe them 60 euros in cash when we arrive. They have been really good as long as we translate into french. They did assure me that there are english speaking guides. Apparently the office staff can't speak english. :D This island is so difficult to find anything, and I was really happy to discover this company by accident. They do have cruise ship excursions so I guess I will see in April.

  5. Read about this company and their half day catamaran excursions for cruisers. I did contact them but they want me to gather 18 plus people from my ship. My question is has anyone done this by just reserving a seat prior through kata mambo and not through a roll cal...etc.?

  6. A room for the day. I reviewed it 11/23 on the t.a. website. It was great for our family of 6 who were all over the age of 10. It cost us less to do that then pay $35 a person for the day pass. Of course if it's 2 people, it's cheaper to get the passes. I liked it there.

  7. I was ready to do this for my cruise in october and ended up going to the Marriott which was really nice. I will be back to St kitt in April for the 3rd time and will be taking the ferry over from near the cruise port. Thank you to paul58 for all of your help on this :D One question, does anyone recommend a car rental place on nevis; preferably an avis or a hertz since we really prefer familiar rental car names?

  8. no monkeys there but it is a beautiful resort and beach. If you just want to see monkeys then go back to shipwreck. It's rustic and quirky and the food is pretty good. There is pretty good snorkeling right in front of the Marriott on the reef if you like that. At shipwreck, there is snorkeling to the left. I have been to both shipwreck and Marriott so it depends what you want for the day. I was at the Marriott 3 weeks ago and loved the pool and the beach.

  9. We booked a day room. But initially we were going to book the day pass in advance. go on their website and email them. If you do book online bring copies. They couldn't find my reservation for my room but I had confirmation #. They are great with responses.

  10. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury to disconnect from work or checking on children and relax even when on vacation as some people can do. Maybe when I retire and kids move out... that being said, hopefully when summit goes to dry dock, some improvements will be made with wifi. Wishful thinking.

  11. We had unlimited WiFi as a suite perk. We could not connect to it at all in our suite (6142). When we did connect to it in public spaces it was very, very, very slow. We usually use an app to view the status of our security system and security cameras at our home when we are away and the WiFi wasn't even strong enough to power the app on my iPhone. We went to the iLounge so we could get on one of the hard wired computers to complete a few financial transactions. It took 30 minutes to log into the Bank of America site, conduct three simple transactions, and log off...no joke.

\ Sounds like what I experienced before on RCCL explorer last year. Well I need it on the ship for work and monitoring cameras at home so I will have to grit my teeth and bear it.
