  1. Just got off the Getaway. Missed the free Platinum tour first sea day. Wanted grandson and daughter to go so signed up for last sea day. $129 per person. Supposed to be two hours but lasted almost three. They ran over because of lots of waiting around for other tours to finish( they ran ones 20 minutes). Daughter said it was boring. Saw very little with no presents or snacks. I was so disappointed as we did one on Regal Princess that was terrific.
  2. On Princess we saw where the anchors are stored and where they print everything ( got personalized stationary) the engine room and pre Covid the medical center and how they call the Mayo Clinic in an emergency in addition to the kitchen ( snacks) and the bridge with the Captain ( strawberries, chocolate and champagne) a very funny assistant cruise director . It moved at a fast clip so I felt terrible that for $260 either my daughter or grandson enjoyed it.
  3. Or maybe they scheduled multiple tours 20 minutes apart and didn’t leave enough time
  4. You sign up the minute you get on the cruise first day or you will wait a long time to get to the desk. This is when they get the kids information you get wristbands and give a secret password for emergency pick up. If you want the kids to do the morning program 9-12 or any of it , you better be on the line by 8:25 or you will have no chance of getting them in ( winter break with 1200 kids on board). Same for nighttime 6:30 the latest. You just have to wait in the line. It was worth it
  5. Splash Academy was a huge success for my grandkids 7 and 10. They made friends and couldn't wait to go. hours were usually ( only sea days) 9-12, 2-6, ( every day)7-11. They played something called Mario Kart (?) Hot Potato other running and drawing games etc. Splash has a limit of 100 kids and there were almost 1200 on board so if you wanted to sign them up you had to get on line at least 1/2 hour before they opened. We signed them up before we went to lunch on the first day. They never stayed past 9 ( bedtime) and people cheered when we picked them up because then they could get in. We missed the behind the ship tour ( Platinum) early in the cruise. It would have been free for at least the adult but because we wanted our grandson to go we paid $129 per person on the last day and it was definitely NOT worth it. It took nearly an hour longer because of standing around waiting for other groups to finish. There were fewer sights than in the past and the guide was awful. Princess does a much better job.
  6. I had the prime rib in the Haven twice to be fair. It was mediocre at best. Stick to chicken, shrimp , burgers and great hot dogs all over the ship. We thought the best food was in La Cucina.
  7. On the Getaway and between one coupon and perks they had in the computer we ate free at Tepanyaki and La Cucina and had a bottle of wine. La Cucina was very good. The beef in Tepanyaki was tough. A big disappointment. Salad, soup , rice, noodles and shrimp were good.
  8. Yes I agree that the lack of clear communication was astounding. The letter last night made no sense. I’m going to put my “ I survived Miami along with my I survived Disneyworld tee shirt. Safely and comfortable on board. Had frito misto, mushroom flatbread and chicken BLT by the Haven pool for lunch. Kids went on the water slide and are now in the arcade trying to get our moneys worth on the $175 unlimited pass. Hibachi restaurant and Million Dollar Quartet tonight!
  9. Tendering was on very large ferry’s kept on the island. Very short ride ( max 10 minutes) longish wait on the ferry to go back to the ship because they wait to fill up. Smooth ride. Ship stayed until 6:00 because the change in itinerary. We went back around 2, after lunch. And swam in the pool.
  10. Went to Disney with the family. We arranged a private car service and it took a little over an hour. We walked off the ship at 7:15 because of the previous days arrival. There were 80,000 people there . You could barely walk. We had the Genie lightening scam and could only use it twice for $90. I almost got sun stroke and a breakdown. The kids loved it. Couldn’t wait to get back on the ship. Great Stirup Cay was fantastic . The weather gorgeous and water perfect , lunch great. Last night the magician put on a funny good show until his last trick ( he stapled his forehead with a staple gun and kids started to cry. ) what! Today we had to go thru immigration in Miami but because we are in the Haven it was easy. We got off last and got on first. That’s when the Haven comes through. One more glorious day and then we start sailing north. Last night dinner in La Cucina was excellent. Antipasto, fried calamari, lasagna, tiramisu, yummy.
  11. 1100 kids. Food is great. Weather in Cape Canaveral beautiful, 80 and sunny. Kids doing the rope course. Having a blast. I thought the wings were great ( spicy though) , Burn the Floor last night was terrific
  12. February 18-26 and it’s a guesstimate from prior cruises this week. The ship is sold out with max ( lifeboat numbers)
  13. We are going on the Getaway today! Winter break with our daughter and grandkids 7 and 10. We have the two bedroom family suite in the Haven on deck 16. Great because it’s on the floor with the restaurant, pool and lounge. It’s really three rooms. The kids have a very small. Bedroom with bunk beds, my daughter will sleep on the pull out sofa in the living room which will be made up each night. The key is two bathrooms. We often stay in this room even if we go just a couple .It’s a great room. Booked through the casino with a discount so I’ve never gotten the move up. This ship is totally booked ( maxed out) because of winter break. I heard there are 1500 kids. Wish us luck.
  14. I believe Vibe has a bar upstairs while the Haven sundeck upstairs relies on the bar service from the Haven lounge. Otherwise the same and servers come up and make the rounds for drinks and lunch. Also you can put in an order at the bar before you go upstairs and someone will bring it up asap
  15. We are also on your cruise. Grandparents, daughter and two kids 7 and 10 who had a hard winter and deserve some fun. We are in a two bedroom family suite in the Haven. I was told the Haven is totally sold out plus and that there are 1500 kids on board. We too are booked through the casino. Last time I was on the Getaway ( last spring) I had four hand pays on slots in the Casino and if it wasn't for the smoking ( no separate smokers room unlike the newer ships) it would be my favorite ship. We've been cruising Celebrity lately because of the non smoking casino but the slots on Celebrity are as tight as ( fill in the blank). We will all have a fabulous time with Million Dollar Quartet and Burn the Floor ( amazing entertainment) and I'm sure there will be a magician or two for the kids. Also can't wait to show the kids and my daughter the Haven. It will be a lot of togetherness in one ( although large) suite. Fortunately my husband is happy being in the room at night with the kids. We have booked one extremely long day at Disney ( taking a car service) because the kids have never been. Hopefully 60 degree Bermuda will be cancelled and a warmer weather port put it but I think the itinerary is set.
  16. If you call excursions they will tell you the buses will be rolling by 8:30. I was told that there are two buses, one goes to the airport and one goes to a bus/train station in town. You will still need to get to your hotel as Celebrity no longer has a hotel with transportation package. I have read that there are vaporetto ( water taxis) near the bus station. Figure 2-21/2 hours in traffic. Good thing you are staying overnight as this lowers the anxiety.
  17. Unless they changed the recipe the patches used to have a warning on the box. I haven’t used them since the ‘90s as I’m very happy with Bonine the few times I have problems.
  18. PS you can’t drink alcohol with the patches that go behind your ear
  19. 50+ cruises on Celebrity, NCL, Princess,RCCL, Oceania and Regent. Sick twice. Once in the Bay off Bordeaux France on the old Pacific Princess and once sailing in the Black Sea. Half the ship was sick including the crew. Bonine really helped. ( it was a 650 small Oceania ship). No problems on the bigger newer ships because of the stabilizers
  20. We feel Bonine is the best. And it doesn’t make you sleepy like Dramamine. CVS or any over the counter pharmacy.
  21. We greatly prefer to stay in the Haven as I'm always stepping back into the room for something I've forgotten. We are right there when the Concierge is ready to bring us down early for shows. And I prefer using my own bathroom rather than the one in the hall. We still go to O'Sheehan's once in a while, the shows and the CASINO. Weather permitting, I'll be up on the 16+ sundeck if you want to find me.
  22. All the more reason to eat in the Haven for first day lunch as the burger in the Haven is twice as good as the one in the American Diner.
