  1. electric strip for all your devices but don't pull it out until later in the day. we had two cabins and we each had one and they confiscated them during the security sweep, had a letter on in our cabin saying it was a hazard.

Actually, bring one that's safe to use: Don't bring one that is a known hazard that can cause problems which could make your trip unpleasant or actually endanger people.

  2. I also work at a school and am used to wearing a lanyard. I tried the S&S card in my pocket once and lost it- never again! Ditto on meds that you need and a power strip. I also bring highlighter- one color per person (for marking up the Funtimes) and Post-It notes to leave messages on the mirror. Doing laundry -or having it done for you- is great so that you pack less. Check Pinterest for ideas on Cruise Capsule wardrobes. I also bought a waterproof camera pouch at a sporting goods store. My daughter used it to hold her cellphone for taking pictures. I tested it with Kleenex in a sink full of water- no leaks. My DD loved it and still uses it- good for Color Runs, too! I also bring a travel diary. I read years ago in Real Simple magazine that one couple makes a list of 100 great moments on each trip. Every night we list our favorite moments of the day. We now make sure we use more detail as some of the moments we no longer understand! Have fun and bring your sense of adventure. When things go wrong- and they will- remember that those will become some of your funniest memories.

Be careful with power strips: I am told the ones with a circuit breaker built in are now forbidden because they are a fire hazard in the marine electrical environment.

  3. I'm sorry but I have to say REALLY? with all that food you have to buy Pringles? Is Pringles that addictive that you can't do without it for 1-2 weeks?

Sure. Why not, if that's something you wish. I am guessing if you are travelling with kids, having things like that isn't just a want, it's a need!

  4. plastic bag for anything u do not want to get wet on excursions. I put my point and shoot in it. We bring our own coffee cup.

    enjoy Cruising is great!

Plastic bags are also great if you want to stick leftovers in the fridge for later. Just don't save too many leftovers: There is ALWAYS another meal!

  5. On our Liberty back2back last month, be stopped at the store and brought our own. 2 bottles per cabin, but they check you at security and didn't ask for cabin numbers, so my wife and I both brought 2 bottles each. We just ignored each other at security.

I wonder what would have happened if you'd been stopped? Would they confiscate 2 bottles? Or all of them since you "violated" a rule? Either way, you'd probably need a drink on board! :-)

  6. I supposedly have some benefits I can take advantage of with my "Gold" status:

    1) Priority embarcation

    2) Special breakfast for debarcation

    3) Special onboard offers

I assume all this will be covered in the material we get with our Compass, but what experiences have you had with these benefits? What kind of shipboard offers will I find? Worth it?

    Thanks!

  7. I just saw a super cheap 4 day cruise on NCL Pearl; Miami to Jamaica and back for $99 pp for an inside and $179 for a balcony! The catch is it leaves this Sunday.

How and/or why is it sooo cheap?!? Anyone know? I'm thinking to surprise the DH and book!!!!

Did you book it? How exciting!
