  1. That's so odd. I've never, ever heard of someone referring to a city or metropolitan area by the local airport's abbreviation. I live near Boston, but we certainly don't refer to this area as BOS. I also love near Manchester, NH and again, we don't call the area MHT. It would sound so strange to do so. I think I'm your case it's just a coincidence that the abbreviation for your area is the same as the abbreviation for the airport.

it won't be the first time DFW residents have been considered odd! We wear the badge proudly.

  2. Are we talking ship?

I'll be on the Conquest in December. I'd be happy to look for one for you. Do you have a picture of one from another ship so I know what I am looking for?

It's about 12 inches long, and it's... Well, it's the Conquest! They run somewhere between $35 and $50. I'll need to get you some money. Do you live in the DFW area (the community not the airport)? I could meet you at a Starbucks. Otherwise, there's always good old reliable USPS.

And thank you in advance. I really appreciate it.

  3. I wonder how many folks will get that....

First they came for the chocolates on the pillows, but I said nothing because I don't need pillow chocolates.

Then they came for the always-filled ice buckets, but I said nothing because I have no need for ice at all times.

Then they came for the pepper grinders, but now I am considering going to another cruise line, because I like fresh ground black pepper on my food!! :D

(I've never seen a pepper grinder on the tables in any dining venue any RCI ship I've been on).

Just stay away from my towel animals, ok?

  4. I find that the dress up standards are a bit lower in the East Coast ports that many people can drive to. In line at check in, the local team sport shirts are worn by many people already . The demographics are totally different it seems. More families take cruises there, as airfare is not an issue and tend to be more informal as the kids don't dress up often. Just much younger cruisers in general who don't want to dress up on vacation.

With Royal, if I can't beat them, I join them.

That's true. We have had Carnival and RC suggest that flying to a port like San Juan for embarcation will "improve" the formality of the other guests because of the additional cost and commitment of the airfare.

  5. Anyone have an NCL Pearl pin or other Pearl memorabilia they'd be willing to part with? My husband and I took our first cruise on the pearl on our honeymoon and I'd love to give him something from the Pearl for our upcoming 5th anniversary!

We are cruising on the Pearl December 2017. If you are still looking then, let me know.

  6. If anyone has a Celebrity Mercury they would be willing to part with I would like to give it a new home.

Of course that was the first ship I was on and like everyone else didnt start collecting until 2nd cruise.

I have a Celebrity Solstice I could trade. No Mercury, though.

  7. I have been placing them on our breakfast bar, one every few days, as we count down to our 12/26/16 Liberty sailing. My wife loves it, but she did point out we haven't been on any of the ships that have "sailed" in to our "breakfast bar port" so far! I enjoy the collection even if I haven't sailed on the ships yet! Who knows? Maybe i can trade for the ones I have been on?
