  1. There are many reasons for the change but I do not think it has so much to do with locality so much. Staff and when the food was obtained. Menus change and how things are prepared would have much more to do with it than where it was obtained. Even different cruises on the same ship may have a different taste for the same item.

  2. Or you can just use ones that come with other things. Many small items come with them now days and will work just fine. I know i probably have 2 dozen or so of them in drawers around the house. Go to the Purser's desk or the casino and have a hole put in your card then attach it to a lanyard. The one I use has a clip that allow removal of the card quickly so I can put it into a pocket if I want too. Have fun on your cruise

  3. First thing would be to describe a "large" group? Second thing would be - If you had a group of family members going on a cruise would you want the cruise line to advertise that you were going and how many were in the group? And finally Yes groups have their own dynamics and that is what makes them get together for the cruise but they take up no more room than a family get together. Yes they may all go eat at the same time and yes they may gather somewhere all at the same time but so would a large gathering of family do the same thing. So, personaly I see noo reason that the linnes should post when a large group is on a particular cruise as it would not make that much difference when they are on there.

  4. Just recently took a land tour of Ireland. If you are interested in nature and its effects the the Causeway is one of the places to go. The day we went if was cold and blustery but still many were there. Advise walking down to the bottom and taking the bus back up. It will also a way to see some of the country which is very beautiful.

If history and buildings and statues are what you are interested in then take a Belfast tour (include the walled portion of the city) and also go to the Titanic Museum. It is really a fantastic place. I watched the news nightly when the troubles where going on and to see the actual places that it happened really hit home as my grandfather came from the old country as he liked to say.

Either is a great experience and worth seeing.

  5. Also it is about a 4 hour, give or take, ride from Seattle to Vancouver. They do not make any stops except for the border crossing. Also no fruits or vegetables are allowed to cross the border. SO if you want to take any for the trip it should be eaten before the crossing. From the border to the departure area is about 1.5 hours. We have went to Vancouver several times thru Seattle but have finally decided to go directly to Vancouver in the future. I have found tickets for September to Vancouver that were actually cheaper than flying into Seattle. It took sometime and searching but did finally find them. By the way we go to visit our daughter who lives just a short distance form the piers. Spend some time there and enjoy this great city.

  6. That isn't very fair! Usually there's something we want to catch after dinner and if we were on time we shouldn't be delayed because others weren't. One of my pet peeves is punctuality. I'm always early for everything cause I hate being late.

Then all who have eaten should politely get up and leave. Why miss your show.

  7. I am sure Princess will take into consideration the safety of the passengers over a port call. They did this in Mexico several years ago when things were getting nasty there. I just read today that things blew up at the main airport in Crimea today. You will find out when the cruise is in progress and I bet they stay away from anywhere that is a trouble spot. Enjoy your cruise and always be ready for the unexpected. It can make things interesting.

  8. Wasn't the Loyalty program based on both number of days and/or number of cruises? That changed recently for some reason. I forget what it was as far as each. And if someone knew where to check it might still be there. I think Princess went to number of cruises to be a little fairer to all cruisers. Of course some take advantage of the program as will happen with any of them.

I say leave it the way it is. Right now no matter how long your cruise is you get credit for one. If you go to using days then one cruise of 50 days counts more than one cruise of 5 days. And that is one of the reasons I think it changed. There is no way to make everyone happy.

  9. I try to weigh myself when I first get on the ship to establish the starting weight. Then I will weigh in once a day and work from the starting weight to get an idea if I am gaining or not. Of course the scales do not lie. The food on the ship is not the fault it is the water right.

  10. Thanks to every one for your rapid replies. Looks like I'll bring my tux, I wore it on my last Crown Princess cruise too. I'm flying first class and business elite, so I have minimal luggage restrictions. I do agree that packing a tux is no different than packing a suit except for the footwear.

And yes, elegant is a Carnival term, sorry if I used it here interchangeably for formal and caused any confusion.

Thank you for the clarification and I hope you enjoy your cruise as much as others will.
