  1. I cannot seem to find this on the Princess website, so I will ask it here:

On nights other than formal night:

Can I wear a nice pair of (non frayed, no holes, etc) jeans in the following:

    1. Main dining room

    2. Sabitini's

    3. Steakhouse

It is not my intention to ruin anyone's dinner or anything like that, but we are from Texas, and a nice pair of jeans along with a nice button down shirt with collar are the norm for any when we visit an upscale steakhouse, etc.

    Thanks

Short sweet and simple - YES you can.

  2. Did this on our cruise in 2008. It makes for a very busy day. Be advised there are LIMITED food vendors in that area. You will not have time to go back to the ship and eat. Also the return time of the train is not set in stone and can vary. All said and done it was a couple of good excursions but would not do 2 of these on the same day.

  3. You are far from final payment for a 2015 cruise Why not cancel your current booking and book a new one under the sale terms?

Then he would have nothing to complain about instead of asking what he should do. So now he is mad at Princess and will be mad at those who do not show him sympathy about his "supposed problem"

  4. I guess it depends on whether you mean legally right,

or ethically right. It also depends on whether a person has the money to sue or not and what a court says to make it legally right or wrong and ethically is is not

Personally, I think that as long as princess provides you with

a comparable cabin, you have no chance of recovering any

damages. It also depends on what a "comparable" cabin actually means. A group would not think splitting them up is comparable as a person with a health problem might not agree,

If you think princess' action is not ethically right, simply take

your business elsewhere. As I understand it some are going to somewhere else. Nice option.

If by some wild stretch, you were able to prevail in an action

against princess, the 'do not upgrade' choice would be quickly

eliminated. That is said often but there is no proof of that if a person won. Then any paperwork showing an assigned cabin when paying would be binding so would a cruise line quit pre assigning cabins? I think not.

In my experience, princess cares little about customer satisfaction.

They seem to think that there is an infinite pool of people waiting

to book cruises, and if any one person is dissatisified -- toot-a-loo

    to them.

On that we fully agree but if an entire industry is disatisfied then it is toot-a-loo to the business.
  5. When it costs more to fly to the departure port than the cruise itself then it is a no go. On the East coast if the only choice is New York or FLL that leaves out many people from these cruises. There are many other ports up and down both coasts that can handle cruise ships that might work to attract more customers for a basic cruise. Also these cruises re labelled by many as party and drunk cruises that families shy away from. These will continue to lose money until the cruise lines figure out how to get customers to them cheaper and get them labelled as family cruises instead of a three or four day drunk party.

  6. Take clothes to dress in layers. Weather changes at the drop of a hat. Bring a light raincoat of some sort that you can wear over other clothes in case it happens. Good sturdy walking shoes as you will do a lot of that. Also if you have the space and weight allowance bring a good bar of binoculars to see things on shore while on the ship. Things inalaska are more expensive than in the lower 48 so plan accordingly. Have a great trip and take plenty of pictures.

  7. As I have posted before it is time to let Princess know they have a problem. posting here does little even though they do read. Emails and customer Satisfaction Surveys explaining how now passengers must check daily or weekly to ensure they keep the cabins they have contracted and paid for. If you are one who does this, like me, or have been "upgraded" without notice then let them know. Only that will change this policy.

  8. Then, you should read the passage contract in detail. Princess has to right to change anything, including substituting a different ship.

Knew that was going to be brought up. Sorry but that part of the contract does not make it right. Time for the customer to let the provider know what they think of it as it seems to be getting out of hand. Wonder what would happen if some one had the money to take an unasked for cabin change to court. Contract fine print or not it is still wrong.

  9. Loonbeam, good information BUT that is allowing Princess to move paying customers around at their own needs. I and many others book cabins due to our needs. Is it the provider or the customer who should decide what the individual needs? Sorry but I contract with Princess to provide a cruise experience and part of that is selecting a cabin. I then pay for that experience and get a receipt from them showing that cabin for that payment. So to me it is breaking a contract if they change it. What would happen if I decided to just break the contract to suit my needs? Bet it wouldn't go over good with the provider now would it. It should be put on the personnalizer and unless the provider has written approval from the customer they should not change it.

  10. Time to let Princess know there is a problem. Not on your cruise satisfaction survey that there needs to be a way to show the Do Not Upgrade on all paperwork. Write in and let them know that this is a personnal choice for many and not a corporate decision to be done without notice. I know I pick my cabins for reasons that I like and would be very upset if someone changed them out especially after I paid for the cruise and all my paperwork said a certain cabin. Let Princess know they need to put this in writting somewhere so cruisers have a recourse if they are upgraded when they do not want it. After all we are the consumers not them.

  11. Princess should add it to the Cruise Personalizer. That way your choice would be known and all involved could see it. Time for a write in campaign on the after cruise satisfaction survey. If enough people ask for it to be documented then Princess just might listen. I agree it should be stated somewhere on the official paperwork. It should be treated just like any other request like dining or bed set up. C'mon folks let us start letting Princess know they have a problem that needs corrected.

  12. One problem is that although the distance is not far, Seattle has only 1 north-south expressway. What if there is construction and also a few accidents on the expressway. Then all bets are off.

There is light rail to SeaTac but I have never taken it. Also, I am not sure if it available from Pier 91.

    DON

The light rail is great. Cost is minimul and from the Amtrak station to the airport takes about 25 minutes with few interuptions for traffic or rod construction. Have used it several times.

  13. I still think that if a cruise card is labelled for Traditional dinning the cruisers should not be allowed into the Anytime Dining MDR and be required to go to other options like Anytime Diners are required to do. At least that way there would be more room available in the Anytime MDR.

  14. It all boils down to what a Disney rep said one time when asked why they are way more expensive then other cruise lines. He said that people pay for it and their ships all seem to leave full. Why change? It also goes to the old saying if you think it is too expensive it probably is so do not buy it. Consumer choice

  15. If you don't wear at least a sports coat, preferably with tie, on formal night you are going to look like a weirdo. But chances are no one will tell you that to your face. Many people take pride in being non-conformists, and so their suitcase magically shrinks so that it can't possible hold a sports coat or one of those great, big, giant neckties that take up so much room.

I have a hard time understanding the way some people treat wearing a coat and/or tie as if it was a daunting task roughly equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest. It's not. Here's how it's done. First you put the shirt on and then you put your pants on and tuck the shirt in. Then you put on the necktie. Then you put on the jacket. Under no circumstances whatsoever is the jacket to come off during dinner. That's all there is to it.

    Now is it that hard?

I really love how some people think those who do nt conform to their way of doing things are idiots, stupid or "look like weirdos". Then go on to explain things to others in simple child like ways as if that is how they can get others to conform to their way of doing things.

No one is trying to get anyone to understand why they do not like to wear suit and ties, want to take items they are not going to wear in their suitcase or want to be as comfortable as possible under the Cruise line allowances. Sorry but many do not care what others think or how they do things or where they can buy an item. And most off all they do not care for other people to try and control what they do on a cruise ship. So the best thing to do is for posters to tell people WHAT PRINCESS PERMITS ON FORMAL NIGHT and quit trying to push your personnal desires on others. Otherwise these type of discussion will go on and on every time someone asks about what to where on formal night. The answer should be made into a sticky and then all can just refer others to it.

    NOW IS THAT SO HARD?
