  1. You can buy a Tux at Penny's these days for around $100 when they are on sale.

So be so kind as to buy one for those of us who see spending that much money on an item we will not wear as a waste of money. Sorry but I have better things to do with MY money then spend it on things I only would wear once or twice in my lifetime. I will stick to wearing a long sleeve shirt and tie and have a great silent laugh at all those who feel the need to dress up for dinner. I have worn a tux exactly twice in over 60 years.

  2. So you cancelled one cruise in order to try and manipulate Princess into giving you a different deal than what the promotion states. You then try to blame Princess and red tape for not cooperating with your scheme. Most people would have checked it out with details prior to cancelling your first cruise. Corporate entities do not have to conform tot he schemes of the individuals in order to make money. They set out the terms of their promotions and expect anyone who wants to take advantage of it to comply with THEIR terms.

Sorry but you messed your self out of a cruise and from the sounds of things some hard earned money.

  3. Unless you never plan to travel again, why not just renew the passport so you won't need to worry.

One reason could be that in order to renew your passport you have to also send in your current one. With a cruise in January that would be cutting it pretty close too the sail date. This should have been done a little earlier that now but some people have no idea when theirs expire and only check when the are needing to use it.

  4. It only generates money because a lot of people like to have things to look at in their homes, like us. You don't have to buy anything you think is "ugly" and the prices for the prints are much better than in any gallery as I have compared them. Each to their own.;)

On that we both can agree. Each to his own.

  5. I do not know what your intentions were with your question BUT it did insult many. There are many other ways to have made your point. And your failure to see it as such also raises several questions that I will not ask at this time. It has nothing to do with other cultures. My wife and her family and friends were very upset with your question. They wondered why someone would make such an insult about them.

  6. As this is important to many of us it would be great if they would put it on the Cruise Personalizer where it would show whether or not you would accept an upgrade and the ability to change it if YOU wanted too. Then a person could take a screen shot to keep for their records. I always take a screen shot of the personalizer that to take with me so there is no question of what I contracted for.

  7. When I make a reservation for a cruise and a certain cabin and Princess says OK and takes my deposit I consider it a contract between the two of us. If I mark it no upgrade and they say OK at the time then I take it that that is also part of the contract. IF by some chance they decided to change the contract without my approval I can assure people that Princess would not like their conversation with me. It would get real nasty real quick with them. It cost too much money to cruise and I select my cabin for my comfort not theirs.

  8. I caught the a cruise when they first switched to the 30 minute format. People were standing in line from the theater to the lounge areas past the piazza. It was a mess. One elderly lady even passed out. This went on the entire cruise and people just quit going. The CD said they had the waiting time fixed because no one was standing in line anymore. I agree a 45 minute show three times a day with a matinee would be the way to go. You had to get in line as soon as the previous show opened to get a seat in the next show. Totally unorganized and not worth the hassle to go see a sub standard show. But that is just my thoughts.

  9. You can not change some people. They will always think they know more and better than anyone else. Confronting them would only cause a bigger problem. There seems to be one in every crowd. As to the Ultimate Ship Tour I would love to take it BUT I think it is way overpriced. All I have heard about it is great BUT to pay that much just to walk around areas that the passengers do not normally get to see is not one of the things I will ever spend money on.

  10. Having taken several Princess cruises I have been satisfied with the food I have eaten. Some good some bad. I do hope all who seem to not like the food trend on ships are filling out comment cards and handing them in. Letting Princess know there is a downward trend to the food by these cards would be a good way of letting them know what you think. Enough comments and maybe something will be done to improve the food.

  11. There are also several buses that leave from the Vancouver Amtrak station. They take about 4 hours to get to Seattle. Walk around the block and get on the light rail to the airport. That takes about 25 minutes. Have done it several ttimes to visit my daughter in Vancouver. Check Amtrak on line for departure times from the Pan Pacific terminal. Lite rail is less than $4.00 pp to SeaTac. Hope this helps.

  12. Why Princess? Easy it provides what I am looking for in a cruise line. It has the destinations I want during the time frame I want. They also provide a clean ship with a friendly staff that seems to go out of their way to help passengers. Also you get to meet some great people from many places. All together a great product that seems to stay that way.

  13. I do not think just a shirt and tie is acceptable on formal nights. I have seen the maître d exclude men because of this. Also for those people who advocate wearing a dark suit rather than a tuxedo because they have to worry about the weight. Can someone please explain to me how a tux weighs more that a conventional suit?

I never wear a suit and have never been refused admittance to the MDR on a formal night. On ehat Princess ship and when did you see people be excluded? Would be nice to know.

  14. As has been said many times and that is a long sleeve shirt with a tie is acceptable. Anything else is a personal choice and is up to how much you can get packed into your allowable luggage without incurring higher fees from the airlines. Only you can determine how much or how little you want to bring. Have a great cruise. Do not let the fashion police dictate your choice.

  15. Ok here is how they do it. You take a small boat from the ship to the shore. There you will board a ferry, with about 300 other people where you will take a trip to the Pacific through the other locks. When you get to the Pacific end you will then board a bus for an approx 1.5 hour trip back to the ship. A buffet lunch is provided on the ferry as well as drinks during the trip. It is along trip and there is no A/C on the ferry so it can be hot humid (and wet if it rains) . Hope this helps. I did it a few years ago and thought it was a great experience. Probably the only chance I will get for this.

  16. I have used walkie talkies on ships for YEARS. Love having them when we split up from a group. great with kids who want some independent time but them want to meet back up in a bit. great on shore when splitting up instead of cell phones. Mine even reach ship to shore to communicate with someone who wanted to stay on ship in port.

Be aware that different countries have different regulations on use of transmitting devices. some require special licenses and some are only allowed on certain frequencies. the walkie talkies bought in the states are approved for use in the US and not necessarily in another country. Some countries call for high fines and jail time for illegal use of transmitting devices.

Also they make ear pieces, sold at Radios Shack, that will keep all your conversation to yourself. Or else use a standard set of headphones/ear buds to keep others from being bothered by your use.

  17. I try and conform to the dress for the night in a way that looks good. I would prefer only one night instead of two on a 7 day cruise. I like two on a longer cruise but the shorter cruises could do with just one. have only worn a TUX once just to have some pictures taken. That was the first time I had been in one since the 11 grade and that was a long long long time ago.

  18. Sorry I willnot reserve a cruise if it has staggered boarding. I know it doesnt hurt the cruise line but I think it is time yo tell all these travel providers enough is enough. If it means no morecruising then so be it. I didnt miss it for 55 years of my life and can find adifferent way to enjoy mytime and travels. I absolutely refuse to ho anyfirther with travel. I know it wont matter one bit but I am tiredog beingconsidered cattle by travel providers.
