@Firefly74, @yorkshirephil. Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it. My husband has already purchased his books and they have downloaded to his device; he even opened one of them up for assurance. I am assuming that the next thing he should do is put his Kindle in "airplane mode" so he can read his books while on the ship and not worry about incurring any charges?

My husband would like to use his Kindle while on our cruise; we have quite a few sea days. We will NOT have an internet package. What does he have to do in order to read his books and not be charged internet fees? Thanks in advance from two technically challenged seniors.

I don't know what Princess is doing this year. Last year I was able to book the excursion well in advance of the cruise. This year, the Whittier glacier excursion is not even showing on their website. If nothing is offered for Whittier, there are going to be a lot of people roaming around a place that really doesn't have much to offer.

I always make my own reservations when we go to Whittier. However, since we had a lot of OBC last year, we decided to book the 26 Glaciers tour through Princess. The excursion was at full capacity. It will be interesting to see what it will be like this year.

Very interesting -- does anyone know why Princess is not offering any ship-sponsored glacier tours in Whittier this year? I always book my tours independently when in Whittier so I am good. Just thought it seemed rather odd that there was nothing being offered for turn-around day.

Thanks. We did 2 Discovery cruises last year and had a heck of a time swapping out. First cruise cabin steward said to contact room service (we waited two days and nothing was done even after a couple of reminder calls). Cabin steward asked if the situation was taken care of and we said we are still waiting. Cabin steward was not happy that room service had not done their job and he personally switched things out. Second cruise, room service came to our cabin about 10 PM when we were just getting ready to go to bed. Since we cruise in a couple of weeks I was just trying to get an idea as to what we might be in for this time around when it comes to swapping out the liquor.

For those that recently switched out their mini-bar on the Discovery Princess, who did you call to do that? And, how long did it take to accomplish the task?

Thanks for the good wishes regarding the cabin. Our final payment for our May cruise was due at the beginning of February. Since it was only a few weeks away, I went ahead and made our final today.

Thanks. My trip is a true 14-day cruise to Alaska. I am thinking my cabin will have to come from the inventory that Princess is not showing. I went in to the 7-day northbound and 7-day cruises that make up my 14- day cruise to see if there were any cabins that were identical to both cruises and there were none. Hence, the cabin will have to come from the "secret stash" I am assuming.

Did you hear from Princess or did you just look at your Personalizer for your room assignment?

Thanks for the detailed response, I appreciate it. Since the sale is still on, we decided to go from an inside to a guarantee delux balcony cabin.

Thank you for the prompt response, I appreciate it. Our cruise will be May 18 of this year. I was also wondering how a guarantee would affect the medallion if the cabin was not assigned in enough time. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

If you have a guarantee cabin, does Princess notify you when assignment has been made? I know the timing can take a while, I am more concerned about the notification process. Thanks.

Is anyone booked on the 9-Day Katmai National Park Tour 03S? If so, I have a few questions for you.

Agree with Coral, Glaciers and 3rdGenCunarder with regard to Alaska excursions. It definitely is important to do your excursion research and see what works best for you. In Juneau you have a lot of options when it comes to whale watching tours. For us, we have enjoyed our experiences with Jayleen's Alaska.

I have been looking at the Katmai excursion for the 8/19/24 land tour/cruise. I believe it it something new. Below is the name of the tour: 9-Day Katmai National Park - Tour 03S. When I looked at the excursion to Katmai, it looked like the excursion was part of the tour. I would have included the link but didn't know if it is allowed.

Whenever we request Military OBC and Stock, I put my name for the Stock and my husband for military and have never had a problem with getting credit.

We did a couple of pre-cruise stays at the Holiday Inn Express in Seward many years ago. Loved the convenient location.
