If you are trying to stay keto... any alcohol will kick you out

If you will consume alcohol-- things like dry sparkling, vodka are better bets than a beer which will wreck your macros

    Stay away from sodas

    You can get sparkling water

You can always pick back up being strict when you get home  Good luck BTDT 🍹

Not worried about Keto ...just want to stick to low carb as much as possible. I stay under 40 net carbs and its really worked for me.   I've been doing this woe off and on for 9 months, and have been fairly strict for last 4 months.  I actually found when I strayed over Christmas by having a few sweets that the sugar made my heart race. I feel much healthier when I stick to low carb.   I still allow myself to have a glass of wine when I want as there are only 3 grams of net carbs.

I agree - I don't try to stay in Keto on cruises - just stay with IF & EF (intermittent & extended fasting) and LCHF as much as possible - BUT that being said - I had a glass of wine last night and it did NOT throw me out of Keto!  We are all different! 🙂

  2. Thank you all so very much - we are staying as we like the location of our cabin - to upgrade to Concierge I could get the same cabin for B2B but it is not an ideal location and the first leg is 'free' but the 2nd leg would be an additional $300 -

    Appreciate all your help!  🙂

  3. We are doing B2B on Eclipse this March - 29 days onboard we have a great cabin - 8253 - at the end of the bump out - for both cruises -

We have a chance to 'upgrade to 1A (oncierge) but not quite the best location -

My question:  Is there that much difference in C versa reg Veranda?

    Thank you! 🙂

My free turkey (from work) was small, so I am roasting a few pounds of turkey thighs alongside, and will use those for more gravy. All of our turkeys are in the oven this time, but we do enjoy a fried turkey.

Our sides are: mashed cauliflower, mashed potatoes (not for me), gravy, green beans with a mushroom sauce, roasted butternut squash with browned butter, keto cranberry sauce, and cornbread dressing with sausage and sage. I will have a small portion of the dressing.

I made a pumpkin cheesecake tart on a keto shortbread cookie base. I will buy pies and rolls for the guys, and make a batch of fathead dinner rolls for myself and freeze the rest of the batch.

It will definitely be a maintenance calorie day.

    Sounds great!!! 🙂

I've been planning my Thanksgiving menu, and while I will have a few regular items for my family, most of the food will be low carb.

    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

We will be doing 2 deep fried turkeys - 1 turkey in the oven (for the keto gravy) mashed cauliflower - green salad - keto creamy-garlic parmesan roasted Brussel sprouts and for those that eat it (not me) I will be doing stuffing!  I love the turkey and the crispy turkey skin - my favorite!

You must have read reports of this from the British Medical Journal.

    Summary:

While one can lose weight on any diet, a low-carb one results, as far as weight maintenance goes, in burning more calories than a high or middle carb one.

Seems the moral of the story is to stay off sugars (worst form of carbs) and other processed carbs.

Sugar is just bad for us all around - if it was classified as a drug - it would be taken off the market - it is soooo addicting to some of us - Hi - my name is Audrilee and I am a carbaholic! 🙂

11 weeks and down 17#.  Next week I’m transitioning off till the first of the year.  We have Thanksgiving, a cruise, and Christmas.  I will try my hardest not to regain any weight although the cruise will be the hardest.  I’m pretty good at knowing how much to eat.  I got into trouble knowing what I was doing.

This is has been a journey....I’m very pleased with the loss for my age.  It was much faster then weight watchers.  I’m really now to the point I’m not hungry and today had to remind myself to eat dinner. I still have some morning nauseous episodes.   The worst side effect for me has been an increase in Migraines.  Dramatically increased.  Sometimes I’d go a couple of months but now often every week I’ll get one.  And they seem to be really bad.  Wish I could figure it out..I know that keto is supposed to reduce them but it has not for me.  This is the main reason I’m coming off for the next 6 weeks or so.  I don’t want to ruin the cruise or Christmas with migraines. My knees are better with less inflammation.

I’ll check in after the first of the year.  Keep going everyone!

Good for you!  You know how to do this now!

*a side note about the migraines - try taking in more salt - I found that if I do a couple 'salt licks' of black Himalayan salt - that does have minerals and sulfur (smells like hard boiled eggs) it helps to starve off the headaches!

  8. Home from 26 days - time to read up - unpacked but a little laundry left to finish - gained 5 POF (pounds of fat) but that is mostly drinks - not carbs!  Going to get down to business -

*follow EBAO - Eggs - Bacon - Avocados and Olives for 1 week to get back into keto and also IF and EF - intermittent fasting and extended fasting - want to lose another 20 before 1 March 2019!

Thanks to Clint and Debbie's tutorial - I am finally able to navigate the new cc - I think RCI techs are the same as cc now!  lol

In Drydock until 26 Feb - then gone for 46 days -  but way too much happening this time of year and calendar is full!

  9. Left home on 9 Oct for Niagara Falls - 4 days - Washington DC for 5 Days - drove to Bayonne - Anthem to New England/Canada for 9 days followed B2B with Anthem 7 days to the Bahamas - still 3 days left and home late on 3 Nov - Doing into 'dry dock' for the next four months so that I can do extended fasting (EF) and will do mainLY ing EBAO (eggs - bacon - avocados - olives) for the fi4rst two weeks!  🙂

  10. After 30 moths of very successful Keto-LCHF - I pulled what I might call a 'binge' yesterday - Sh*t happens - very upsetting day - but okay -

OVER THAT - get back to the basic - BAO Fast this weel - Bacon - Avocados and Olives!

  11. Just starting today. I’ve done low fat for 40 years so this is really weird for me. Yesterday I bought heavy cream, cheese and all the bad stuff I’ve avoided forever. I want to lose 20 lbs hopefully most before the end of November cruise. I’ve ordered some supplements to try to avoid the keto flu. I’m using diet doctor for recipes and am thinking of an app to get. I’ve done weight watchers most my life.

I think the hardest thing might be cooking every meal. I will make a casserole tonight and be able to freeze and eat for lunches but still not too sure about what to get to have on hand for a quick meal. I love eggs and bacon but don’t want to eat it 3 times a day. I’m also concerned about eating too much.....my calculator says 1400 kcal per day and that’s not going to be much with all the fat calories. After a few days I think I can cut down to 2 meals and eat just 12:30 to 8:30 each day. ( I’m a nurse that gets up at 4:30 and gets home at 8:00 at night so this is the best I’ll be able to do.)

You will love the freedom of this WOE (way of eating) it can fit any schedule - we usually do OMAD (one meal a day) so that the rest of the time is IF (intermittent fasting) GOOD LUCK

  12. It is also possible to lose weight an not be in 'ketosis' I just stay below 10-15 carbs per day - but most the time in Keto -

I drink vodka shots over the rocks and ask for sprite zero on the side add only a splash and a squeeze of lime - not carbs!

I also do wine with dinner - red wine!

  13. Congratulations to those of you that lost - or kept LCHF on a cruise - I just weighed and our 8-day land trip to St. Louis - visiting cruising buddies - we did only OMAD (one meal a day) - dinner out every night - ate a little off plan for first time in 28 months - did not gain - now to lose the 8 extra I have :)

  14. Just an update...

Was down 40 lbs on keto when I went on my cruise in mid April. 40 was my goal so I was pretty happy with that.

However after maintaining that weight for about a month after the cruise I decided to see if I could lose more just to see how I felt. Since then I 've lost another 20lbs. I am down 60 lbs in 8 months. Pretty much just stuck to the plan with an occasional intermittent fasting (18/6) and it's been fairly easy to lose the weight. I am now down to the weight I was in as a sophomore in high school and the lowest I've been in 47 years. This is where I will stay. I never thought I could get to my ideal BMI.

I feel good and don't look anemic like on other diets. I still haven't had any bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, or sweets in 8 months. Keto has become a way of life in my house now that my wife started doing it a couple months ago.

For those starting out, just stick to the plan, it works.

CONGRATULATIONS! that is awesome! I have eaten a little off plan but not bad - and only doing OMD (one meal a day) so getting in about 20-23 hours of IF (intermittent fasting) :)

We are enjoying a 'land cruise' with great cruising friend Roaming Retirees - Tom and Nancy in St. Louis, MO - awesome city to visit fun friends - decided that we have been going so much Monday will be a 'sea day' with time in quarters!! Bucket List - checked off St. Louis Arch - At least we did a "Dinner Cruise" on the Great Mississippi last night!

  15. So question, you say no vegetables that grow underground...I know I can do without potatoes and carrots but the idea of giving up onions, garlic, and ginger seems so sad. What are your go to spice mixes?

We eat some onions and lots of garlic!
