  1. Rethinking about checking my luggage since I don't want to really wait until WHO-KNOWS-WHEN it will arrive.

I don't fly, so before you answer by saying "the same size as airline carry-ons" or "whatever fits through the checkpoint scanner thingy" (which I have never measured so don't know what size luggage would go thru that)

can someone give me an approximate measurement of the carry on size for luggage.

I know lots of people carry their stuff on so I know someone knows.

    Thanks.

26x16x9 is about standard airline carryon...at the port you could get away with taller as long as it isn't really thick...If I remember right the opening for the scanner is about 12-14" high...

  2. So you want compensation. For what? What if you boarded on time and the ship departure was delayed for a medical emergency? Would you still think you are "entitled" to compensation?

    I imagine YOU probably would!

You might want to read the OP's original post a little closer...she was being sarcastic...along with sharing the news about the delayed boarding...I know her personally & she is a seasoned traveler who totally understands that things like this are beyond her control...the "compensation" headline was to draw attention...

  3. Carol, you have mentioned traveling with Amtrak before, so I'm hoping you can answer my question...

I am going to be taking the train from EWR to Baltimore/BWI and am worried about having enough time to board the train, find a seat & stow 2 medium suitcases...the train does not have checked baggage available...and it also say's on the Amtrak page no luggage assistance available....I have taken the train from BWI to Washington Union station and barely had time to get onboard...let alone find a seat or stow my bag before the train was moving out of the station...I don't see 1 suitcase for a 9 nt cruise & 3 nights pre/post cruise as being remotely possible...

I guess my question in all that is....Is the train at the station for 5-10 mins to allow people to board & deal with their luggage? Thanks!

  4. Not much. There are lines for suites and pinnacle, Diamond/+, all other C&A tiers, and first timers. Sometimes the line for first timers is the shortest line. Checking in 'priority' is not worth a lot.

Only suites and pinnacles get the separate waiting area.

Depends on the port,I'm D+ and have had a seperate waiting area in Port Canaveral and in Tamps...

  5. I feel like I've seen posts about moving reservations to a travel agent if they're offering perks - does anyone know how late this can be done? I booked directly through RCI, but see that if I had gone through a TA I could have obc or the gratuities covered... Am I imagining that an existing reservation can be moved? :) I'm past final payment date, so I'm thinking I'm probably out of luck though.

    Thanks in advance!

Any transfer has to be done within 60 days of booking AND BEFORE final payment...so yes...you are to late this time...

  6. But many times the waiters from Specialty Restaurants grab you out of line with a special like BOGO. How is that RUDE? Royal does it... not us...

And if we order dinner in our Suite, do they not know we can't be in two places at once.

I would really like to know how it effects other scheduled reservations???

Royal may make the offer....YOU make the choice to NOT spend 2 mins. to walk up to the desk & tell the Dining Room Staff that you will not be keeping your reservation...so yes...it does effect other people who are waiting for a table...

  7. It is the GOing Going Gone rate for this weeks sale.

Yep!! Cause a few weeks ago this was showing up even after the GGG sale should have been over...and they would NOT budge about letting me upgrade my cabin based on that price...and I called at least 4 times over a 2 week period!

  8. Did everyone that was able to negotiate a price drop go through a travel agent? I just booked directly with one of the RC Ambassadors and we have made final payment, but I'm wondering if we might be able to get a better room.

Balcony rooms are now $200 less than what we paid for interior, so I'm a little peeved, but maybe this is normal. This is my first cruise so I'm not sure how it works.

I did not use a TA...booked direct with Royal...as long as the prices you are seeing are not for New Bookings only you should be able to get an upgrade...if you have any OBC from a previous promotion you "may" lose that...but you might not...so worth a call either way

  9. A couple weeks ago on the Grand the only thing in the mini fridge was a couple bottles of water...I was surprised to find the ice bucket in there the 1st evening..never been on a cruise line before that put it there...but it did make the ice last longer...:)

  10. I went to book something else and I got that circle going around and around and around. Then when I got in, the prices were back to normal.

I just saw that now as well....finger's crossed they honor the prices that were showing earlier...my cruise planner is showing the new pricing...and the reps could see it as well...so hopefully it stays...

  11. omg glitch alert-

when you book one person in a balcony, you get 60% off that person. I had my son in an interior for $1500 and now he is in a balcony for $1000. Not sure what it works for but try it if you are travelling as a single anywhere.

Yep..both my cruises are booked as Solo's....:D
