  1. I also agree with the above responses. I’ve been bringing my own scooter on cruises since around 2012. My last cruise in March of 2023 on Anthem of the Seas from Cape Liberty was pretty easy to navigate. Elevators take a little longer, but no worries, you’ll get where you want to go eventually. For me, everyone was very helpful if there was a time I needed a door held, or if there was an obstacle in the way. One thing you should try and do is let Special Needs know you will be using a scooter. Definitely check with Maitre’d on first day to see your table location if you’re dining in MDR. Enjoy your cruise!!
  2. Wow, we sailed on Anthem in March 2023. I don’t think we were ever asked for a “10” in any venue.
  3. Answered my own question. Trying to delete my post, but having difficulty. Didn’t realize Odyssey is similar to Anthem so my questions in post were answered.
  4. We are looking at Royal Caribbean’s the Odyssey of the Seas for a cruise this year. If you have sailed on the Odyssey with a mobility scooter were there any difficulties getting around? We’ve sailed on Empress, Grandeur, Anthem, and there were no issues for the person with the scooter, but the Odyssey will be the largest we’ve sailed. Can you drive into dining room with the scooter, and will waitstaff take it away and park it? Can it be parked in a balcony cabin. We were able to drive into standard balcony cabin on Anthem. Is it easy for shows if you go early for seat? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. Yay, being able to sail from Philly to Bermuda is great for us, suburban Philly folks. Not fans of sailing from the Big Apple.
  6. Beautiful photos. Bermuda is definitely Another World!! We will board the Eclipse in a few weeks. It will be my 18th visit to Bermuda. Although there have been many changes since my first visit, it’s still remains top on my list of places to visit. Thanks for posting and getting me more excited for our upcoming cruise.
  7. Wilda, thanks for a very funny description of your Venezia travels. I can’t wait for the next one.
  8. We are leaving from Cape Liberty/Bayonne in a few weeks on the Celebrity Eclipse. If you have sailed from Bayonne with Celebrity, is the gangway long, and is it steep? Thanks in advance.
  9. They had things in place for the 7 times I used my scooter on the Carnival Legend; a designated lounge for muster, a designated lounge for debarkation. We always book close to elevators, and leave early for dinner to avoid crowds at the elevators. I notify the Special Needs Dept. beforehand. They need to know the passengers who are disabled or require assistance, in case of an emergency. I’ve never encountered what you describe. I hope things work out better for your next cruise.
  10. I use a Pride GoGo Elite Traveller 3-wheeled scooter. PRO’s, I am able to drive it into our cabin turn it around, and drive it out. It also comes apart in 5 pieces when we need to put it in the car. CON’s, I chose the longer distance battery, and it’s very heavy. It’s the heaviest part of the scooter. I hope to order the lower capacity battery eventually.
  11. I use a scooter that I could push manually if necessary and guide it into the cabin if my husband is not with me. We tried it once to see if I could do it. After that practice, I only had to enter the cabin on my own once. That time, I was able to actually push open the door, grab the door stop to keep the door open and very slowly drive my scooter into the cabin. Honestly though, I really should have manually pushed and guided it in as it would have been easier. I can’t really walk without the cane, but pushing the scooter I’m leaning on it so that’s how I’m able to push it through the door. Maybe you can try that if the scooter allows for a manual mode.
  12. I think I just found my answer. Thanks everyone, not certain how to delete my topic/question now.
  13. Haven’t sailed Celebrity in a number of years. Question—-If you have ordered the Water package, I believe the description says Acqua Panna water comes in glass bottles and when I try to enlarge the photo of the bottle I think it says 500 mL,or about 16oz.,is that correct? Also, some threads mention cans. Is it cans or glass bottles? Thank you.
  14. Thanks for telling me about the previous thread. We’ sailed with other cruise lines and have done the “once a day” service, but it’s been a number of years since we’ve sailed with Celebrity and I was curious to see how folks liked their program. Thanks again!
  15. If you have signed on for the “Go Green” program for your Celebrity cruise, how did it work out for you. We will be cruising shortly, and we received a form today explaining the program and the online form if we wanted to choose it. I’m fairly certain we will choose it, just curious if you were pleased with it. Thanks in advance
  16. Just saw this today and I need to catch up. Here I go again, your descriptions of some things are so funny, I’m again, laughing out loud. Looking forward to your thoughts on Venezia. We were on her in Oct. 2023. Enjoy your NY adventure and the Venezia.
  17. Thank you for taking us along. We appreciate hearing about Eclipse. We’ve been cruising since the late eighties and the majority had been with Celebrity, mostly in late eighties thru mid nineties. More recently we chose other lines, as we like the smaller ships. We always enjoyed sailing with Celebrity, and are hoping that things haven’t changed too much. Thanks again, and glad you had a nice cruise.
  18. Looking forward to following along. Our last cruise with Celebrity was many years ago (zenith, Horizon, Galaxy). Many changes with Celebrity Cruises since then. We sail on Eclipse in July 2024. Beginning to feel a little apprehensive, reading some reviews, but glad to get back to Celebrity and Beautiful Bermuda. Enjoy your cruise.
  19. We’ll be on the Celebrity Eclipse later this year. I’ll be bringing my mobility scooter along, and while we have cruised with Celebrity back in the Zenith, Horizon, Galaxy days, I didn’t need a mobility scooter. Unfortunately, I need one now. I’ve used it on other cruises, but this will be the first with Celebrity. If you have used a scooter, can you tell me if I can drive scooter into the MDR and have DH move it to wherever Celebrity stores the scooters while guests have dinner. On other cruise lines we’ve been on, the waiter would take the scooter and parked it someplace, then bring it back after dinner. On a “sisters” cruise on Royal last year, one of my sisters moved it each night. The waiter said that since Covid, they would ask a traveling companion to move it, which I understood completely. I posted here instead of disabled board because my question was specific to Celebrity Eclipse. I’ll be happy to move it if necessary though. Thanks in advance.
  20. Yes, absolutely must meet guidelines. I brought my scooter (GoGo Elite Traveler 3-wheeled scooter) on the Venezia in October. It was the 7th or 8th time I took it on a Carnival cruise, but can’t comment on Mardi Gras. I drive it in and out of the doorway of a standard balcony cabin, park it in front of sofa and we have no issues walking between the parked scooter and the desk. I use my cane to get around in the cabin, so I don’t need an accessible cabin yet. My scooter doesn’t fold or collapse, but if ever I had to fit it someplace, it comes apart in 5 pieces. My scooter size fits Carnival’s scooter requirements for fitting through the doorway so it doesn’t need to fold or collapse.
  21. I’ve taken my own scooter on our last 8 or 9 cruises. We book a standard balcony cabin, and always inform Special Needs department with info regarding size of scooter, etc. My scooter fits through the entry door fairly easily. If necessary we remove the armrests. I’ve managed steering my scooter into the cabin, continue steering it very slowly toward the corner of the bed, and back up and turn around so my scooter the faces the door. It is parked in front of the sofa. We just move the table a little toward the door. It fits very nicely and does not block us at all. We have plenty of space between the scooter and desk to walk by freely. I use my cane in the cabin and don’t require an accessible cabin yet. I would never park scooter outside of cabin. Most folks familiar with scooters, understand that is a safety hazard but some using a scooter for the first time may not know, so hopefully Carnival will really enforce their rules for wheelchairs, scooters, etc.
  22. I bring my own scooter on our cruises. It’s a Pride GoGo Elite Traveler, 3-wheeled. It comes apart in 5 pieces also, if necessary. This summer I’ll bring it on the Eclipse. I’ve had my scooter for a number of years but only in the last 7 years have I had to bring it on our cruises. I would strongly recommend some time before renting one for the cruise, that your aunt has some training on a scooter. That is very important. Because I’ve had my own scooter for a while, I’m very familiar with how to operate it safely. I don’t need to use my scooter in the cabin, and don’t need an accessible cabin. I use my cane for getting around in the cabin. We always book standard balcony cabins and I haven’t any problem getting into or maneuvering it inside the cabin yet. I think our cabin is slightly smaller than most cabins on other cruise lines though, but I know my scooter will at least fit through the doorway. Scooters cannot be kept outside of cabins for safety reasons. It’s a good idea to ask your steward for a door stop if there isn’t one in your cabin. I believe the scooter rental companies use the same, or a very similar scooter as the Pride scooter for the cruise ships. I’ve already notified Celebrity that I will be bringing my scooter. All the info they needed was the overall length and width. Other cruise lines also require advance notification if one is disabled, in case of emergency. That way they can let the cabin steward know.
