  1. You normally do not get ANY change of freebies with ANY upgrade

Not following this was a CAS comp based on casino play. So value of original booking was used to determine rebook/upgrade. I was already in a suite but when I originally booked suite guests did not pay tax and gratuities on perks now they do so had to pay that and 50 per person difference in price but OBC increased to 600.

  2. Hi fellow cruisers

Ater researching shore excursions for Cozumel, I've noticed that quite a few places are closed on Sunday, Nov.12. However, NCL'S website is showing these excursions as being available. I'm somewhat confused. Since there will be 3 cruise ships in port that day (NCL Pearl, Disney Wonder and Regent Seven Seas) does this mean that the cruise lines have made private arrangements for excursions? I don't remember ever being in Cozumel on a Sunday on previous cruises, so I'm not sure how this works. Any help would be much appreciated.

  4. Andy,

CAS offered us a comp for a balcony category for our Epic cruise in December of this year. I upgraded from the balcony category to a 2 bedroom villa (H4).

3 days ago I received the 'upgrade advantage' email offer to upgrade from the H4 to an H2 ( Deluxe Owners Suite).

The minimum allowable bid was $750.00 per person ($1500.00) total. I did not bid.

On a whim, I called CAS and spoke with a representative and explained that if I went online right now and booked an H4, an upgrade offer to an H2 pops up for $50.00 a person per day ( $700.00) total.

She offered me the upgrade for $700.00. That was a no brainer. No bidding and having to wait and see if the bid is accepted.

My wife isn't a CC member, so she and her parents (our other guests) are in for a nice surprise !

So my advice for anyone that booked through a CAS comp offer is to not bid through the advantage program, but call your CAS representative first and see if they can 'upgrade' you for a better price.

This method may not work on all sailings, as cabin availability may weigh heavily in regards to what CAS can do.

I feel very lucky, as I got the last H2 (there are only 8 on the Epic).

Of, and I did NOT lose any of the perks or the OBC from my original booking in December of 2016.

    Enjoy your cruise !

    Regards,

    Vinegarjoe

I've been upgraded through the advantage program from a CAS comped minisuite on the Escape to the Aft 2 room Penthouse. I've also did upsell twice to Haven Penthouse on Epic and 3 bedroom garden villa Dawn. I have called CAS as I currently have a forward non-Haven Penthouse comped and bid on a 2 bedroom Haven Penthouse min bid is 1200 totalI called and to upgrade would be 2400 not worth it at all. Not sure the 1200 is even worth it on the Pearl 9 day

  5. For $400 each, it's probably worth it just for the extra bathroom and bedroom. Although it will probably be a cheaper bid if you get the non-Haven 2-bedroom.

We're on the same cruise 16 days later and it's also $1200 total to bid on the Haven 2-bedroom from our 2-bedroom suite. There's four of us in the room, and we can't justify $300 each just for the Haven pool deck when we could book the spa pass for half that price.

Spa is not that great on Pearl. No thermal pool and individual separate whirlpools There is a non haven 2 bedroom open but smaller balcony and not sure if I wanna give up the huge forward balcony for the added space. 400 total but there is only one right now[emoji15]. Decisions.

  6. I've been upgraded 3x 1x time through the bidding on Escape to Haven Aft master bedroom Penthouse. I've now bid on a 2 bedroom haven suite on a 9 day pearl cruise 11/10. We are already in a nonhaven SE forward Penthouse. I'm on the fence if it is worth it on this six port intensive trip and smaller ships Haven have no restaurant or haven lounge so all we are getting is the pool and sun deck. Bid is minimum but they have 8 open so we have a good chance at 1200 total. Now I see bids being accepted early. My experience and most others is you do not get accepted until 3-4 days before. See bids for haven being accepted 3 weeks and longer. I guess I better figure out if 1200 is worth it go move from a non Haven suite to a Haven suite. There are 3 women in the room.

  7. Enjoyed your review possibly going on Allure through a casino invite after 16 comped cruises through NCL CAS. How would you compare NCL casino and casino reward program? Did you get any credit at the end and would they comp or discount in the future? How did RCL compare to NCL have gotten spoiled with free drinks and free specialty dining - not sure if they offer any perks like this? Since I'll be an invited casino guest would we get drink cards like NCL? Would like your thoughts on comparing your experiences.

  8. Thanks so much for the review. I did not know they offered suites outside of YC similar to Nonhaven suites but part of Haven. I'm still confused on what suites are offered in YC on Divina. We are sailing in July in YC and was only offered YC standard suite on 15? Having cruised NCL 16 times in 6 years this will be our first experience away from NCL. But the MSC website is difficult to navigate and suite choices are not clear for YC probably because it is mostly sold out!!

  9. You're welcome.

Your husband will be fine with the low carb; just order whatever you want and how you want it, they bring it. If you want an item 'without a sauce or specific component, just tell them. We met SO MANY DIET special cruisers; Vegan, Vegetarian, Low Carb, Mediterranean, Gluten Free and watched Le Muse bring meals based on requests. Again, there can be a communication issue if you get a strong Italian language waiter weak in your language; so just get that taken care of up front. There are so many European cruisers that it should work for everyone.

I believe that you will have a really nice time and I'll be interested in your take on the Haven comparisons.

I do wonder if, being a summer cruise, there will be a lot more kids. There was barely a noticeable group of related families on our second week, but they have lots of other things to do outside the YC. Not a problem at all.

We also noticed much better blending and conversation with a large number of other cruisers, couples or groups on our B2B. Maybe we were just lucky. There really was a nice balance of other cruisers; maybe the great weather or everyone enjoying the YC.

    Re: the CASINO.

Well, my life skills and professional expertise have been NO MATCH for casinos. Whether it be in Vegas or on cruise ships, I always snuck $500 (she knew anyway) to try the casinos a couple of times knowing full well the money would be gone fast at the tables. A couple of years ago, my wife just said "why don't you just walk through the casino and throw the money away in tens and twenties." I considered it (she was right, it was a pure waste of money for me, although two of my three sons are avid players; one responsible one not so much, and I've met a lot of cruisers who LOVE IT and it is a big part of their cruise).

So I can't help you with the casino. I believe it is non-smoking. It also didn't look too large, but a lot of YC passengers were casino go-ers based on conversations.

I still sneak the $500 for the standard cruise, however, we do something we really, really like to do that makes us feel good. We surprise tip anonymously to unsuspecting crew (not just those taking care of us). That feel good story for another day.

    Have a great cruise.

    Thank you!
