  1. We had gelato for dinner one evening in Rome when we weren’t very hungry. Highly recommended!
  2. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily updates. While I can’t celebrate bald day I did just enjoy a slice of homemade apple pie for breakfast! Hats off to the incredible edible egg, one of the hardest working ingredients in the kitchen. The Letterman quote is equal parts funny and true! We’ll be having leftover meatloaf this evening. Think I’ll pass on the drink. Thanks for sharing your photos of today’s port, it’s on the bucket list. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to those of you who are celebrating happy events today!
  3. Good morning everyone, a gorgeous fall day here in Boston, the kind you wait for all year! Fun collection of days, as a skeptic I’ll celebrate. Silly sayings can be a lot of fun. Eye checkups are so important for maintaining good eyesight. I like the quote and the meal suggestion, I’ll pass on the drink. Finally a port that I have photos of from, our Corfu hike excursion on the Oosterdam last month. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events! Olive grove planted by the Venetians. Door for @StLouisCruisers Some beautiful vistas along the way. Tasty snack at a local restaurant. A shrine with an offering of olive oil. Finally, our reward at the beach!
  4. Good morning everyone! A nice collection of days although I won’t be facing my fear of spiders anytime soon. The drink and meal suggestions sound good to me. The wine sounds nice too, we’ve been experimenting with pinot noirs this year in anticipation of our visit to Portland OR next month to spend Thanksgiving with our relatives. I haven’t been to today’s port yet. I’ve never suffered from jet lag traveling from Europe but after sleeping for 14 hours straight last night I hope it’s been conquered. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today. Happy _________ to those of you celebrating happy events!
  5. Good morning everyone. We arrived home last evening safe and sound. I’ve learned one thing on this trip, I’m a terrible journaler! Between the time change, the not so great wifi preference to enjoy the moment, I gave up. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends. I like the quote and the collection of days. The drink and meal suggestions even sound nice. I think I’m glad to be home! I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for those on our pray list. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!
  6. Hello from Dubrovnik. Our port stop in Kotor got nixed today because of weather concerns so we’re overnighting here. We have friends who live in Split who picked us up upon arrival today and we drove to Kotor. We were very impressed with the beautiful old town where we had a delicious seafood dinner. As we were getting ready to leave the restaurant the winds picked up, the skies darkened, a spectacular lightening show started as did a driving rain! I guess the captain got an accurate weather report, but we made it to Kotor after all. Each stop seems more beautiful than the next! Due to less than desirable internet connectivity I haven’t been using the ship’s wifi nor would I pay for an upgrade. I’ve been using my AT&T data and roaming when in port and I’m not sightseeing, that’s my excuse for being MIA lately. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today. Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events!
  7. Hello everyone. It seems I’m too late for Tuesday but still too early for Wednesday. We’re in Taormina today and have just begun tendering IMG_1475.mov . We plan to take the ship’s transfer to Taormina and tour the Grecko Roman theatre. Pompeii and Naples were fascinating topped off with pizza and beer in Naples. The weather has been warm and slightly overcast which makes it nice for sightseeing. Well it’s time to start preparing for our visit, I’ll leave you with a few photos of yesterday and this morning. Cheers.
  8. Good morning everyone from Florence! Sorry I haven’t been a more astute poster but it is what it is. We diverted from Cannes yesterday due to the weather and visited Ajaccio Corsica instead. Birthplace of Napoleon. The Oosterdam is in fine shape, we’re in a Neptune Suite so the complimentary laundry is a huge plus. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers for now. PS Kazu, Casa Camper is a find as is Bar Lobo! IMG_1221.mov
  9. Hello everyone. It seems with the change in time zones I’m either very early or very late; today it’s late. We arrived in Barcelona last evening and checked into our hotel Casa Camper, thanks to @kazu’s recommendation. We love it and would most definitely stay here again. Today was a guided tour of La Sagrada Familia and a self guided tour of Park Güell. I have to say that I’m blow away by the genius of Gaudi. After a late afternoon siesta we had tapas at another recommendation by @kazu Bar Lobo which was excellent, thank you so much for that. Tomorrow we board Oosterdam. Since we’ve been on the road for two weeks it doesn’t seem real yet. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list especially for the victims of the dam failure in Libya. Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events! Following are some photos from today.
  10. Good afternoon everyone. Thanks for the daily report. I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday, I hope that I never experience anything like that again. I’ve been absent as we visited the mountainside pueblo town of Mijas and the beach here in Marbella. Tomorrow evening we fly to Barcelona for two nights before we board Oosterdam. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events!
  11. Good afternoon everyone. Hats off to teddy bears. We’re currently waiting at the Bilbao Spain airport for our flight to Malaga. Fingers crossed our luggage arrives with us this time 🤞. We spent a wonderful afternoon in St. Sebastian Spain where we were greeted first with a parade and the a bride and groom leaving the church, all within the first ten minutes of arriving! We’re learning lots about the Basque region and culture. I guess the warm weather must be universal as it’s 92F and humid here. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list especially the victims of the earthquake in Morocco. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today! IMG_0925.mov
  12. Greetings everyone from Biarritz France. Neither rain nor snow here, instead it’s sunny and in the 90’s, perfect for having lunch overlooking the Atlantic with a glass of wine. We flew here on Tuesday from Rome via Zurich. The flight leaving Rome was late and we barely made our connection, sadly our luggage didn’t. Fortunately, on a whim I had purchased Apple air tags for this trip and we were able to track our bags from Zurich to Geneva to here. The baggage folks in Biarritz insisted that no rush luggage was on the only flight to Biarritz this afternoon while the air tags indicated that they were in the terminal. The air tags won and have already paid for themselves. We had purchased trip insurance and since our bags were almost 48 hours late we’ll get reimbursed for our little shopping spree this afternoon. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events! Day 2 of the same clothes. One of the beautiful beaches here.
  13. Hello everyone, happy Labor Day. Thanks for the daily report. We had a very early morning with a small group tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica all before opening to the general public. Needless to say we’re pooped! We fly to Biarritz tomorrow so it’s early to bed. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to those celebrating happy events. Following are some highlights of our day.
  14. Good evening everyone from Rome. We had great flights yesterday via Icelandair. Arrived in Rome yesterday and hit the ground running this morning with a Coliseum floor small group tour with a great tour company called Roman Vacations. We also toured the Forum and Palatine Hill. After the tour we had, what else but pizza and beer for lunch and then toured St Clements, nearby the Coliseum. It’s three churches built over each other, all built over a first century Roman home. All of the structures are intact with the upper level still an active church. It makes me feel very young! Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today and cheers to those of you celebrating happy events! Oh by the way we had gelato for dinner, does that make me a bad person. I’m attaching a photo of our entire tour group I’m wearing the hat.
  15. Good morning everyone. Thank-you for the daily report. We like to eat outdoors when we can. Might buy a bag of trail mix at the airport today. While we’ll read them occasionally I wouldn’t go as far as saying that we love them. I like the quote. Today’s meal suggestion sounds like a nice side dish. I’d try the drink. I haven’t been to today’s port. We fly to Rome on Icelandair this evening and will be there until September 5th. Following that, we are meeting our friends in Biarritz France for a few days and the we all head to their other home in Marbella Spain for some time there. My DH and I head to Barcelona for two nights there before we board the Oosterdam on September 14th. Based on @kazu’s report we are staying at Casa Camper, I figured if they took such good care of our Daily friend during her visit they surely must be a class act! I’m not a very good journaler but I will try to give updates here, hopefully with photos! Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to those of you who are celebrating happy events today!
  16. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists. We should pay attention to the grief process and let it happen, it’s something that shouldn’t be bottled up. Gloomy and rainy here, today’s no beach day for sure. I think it’s a much better day for touching a heart. Luggage Forward picked up our bag yesterday and the air tag says it’s at JFK Airport. I guess our travels have begun. I think Ms. Held was right with today’s quote. The meal suggestion sounds great, I’ll pass on the drink though. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for all on our prayer list. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events!
  17. Good morning. Thanks for the daily update. It’s nice that bats have their own night, they work hard while we’re asleep. More herbs and less salt is a goal that everyone should aim for. I need to work on being a more patient motorist. The meal and drink suggestions sound tasty. The quote sounds like someone didn’t like paying his taxes. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list, I pray for a miracle for baby Murphy. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events!
  18. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report. My mouse will be resting today, he raced around the icons for years. I think of my cat Max often before his crossing rainbow bridge. I’m sure some of us will happily celebrate red wine. I like the quote. The meal and drink suggestions sound good to me. Haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on the prayer list. Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events! Another day of packing and organizing. Our neighbor came by yesterday so that we could show her the plants that will need to be watered etc… Hopefully we’ve not forgotten anything important. We’ve never been away for five weeks before so it’s a little nerve wracking!😬
  19. Good morning everyone. Thank-you for the daily report, recipes and lists. Nice collection of days, it’s always speak kind words day here. Good day to play music on the porch and drink lemonade. The Pony Express provided an amazing service. Interesting quote by Poe. The meal and drink suggestions both sound good. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for all on our prayer list. Cheers to all who are celebrating happy events today!
  20. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily updates. Another gloomy morning here. Interesting group of days, every dog must have it’s day! How fortunate that women have been achieving equality over time. What is there to be said about toilet paper that we don’t already know? Fun quote today. Think I’ll pass on the meal and drink suggestions today. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on the prayer list today. Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events! I need to start getting serious about packing for our five week trip to Europe coming up on Thursday. The Luggage Forward folks will be here to pick up the garment bag on Tuesday and all I’ve done so far is look at it!
  21. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists. Kiss and make up is a great way to end a dispute. I haven’t had a banana split in years, maybe I should end that dry spell today? Hats off to the National Park Service founders we are grateful for their efforts. The meal suggestion sounds very good but I’ll pass on the drink. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for all on the prayer list. Cheers to those who are celebrating happy events today!
  22. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily updates. When I think of iconic American restaurants Big Boy comes to mind. We’ll see the results of Vesuvius’ handiwork next month in Pompeii. Another strange song that I remember from the 70’s was Telephone Man by Meri Wilson. Think I’ll pass on the meal suggestion but the drink sounds tasty. Love today’s quote. I have not been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to those celebrating happy events today!
