  1. Exactly the same rules in Europe and indeed worldwide . Basically if the ship starts and ends at the ports advertised regardless of what happens in-between it's the same cruise.
  2. What does the booking confirmation from your travel agent show?
  3. The variations and options are almost limitless and always in X's favour.
  4. Almost as your quote says "approximately" which gives X another way out and a reason to cancel if only 15 book. Or they can sell 28 and still meet the "approximately. Better would be a minimum and maximum figure. Whichever still way to big for us and you are still stuck with a fixed schedule to which you have no input.
  5. Sorry not false advertising as X never clarifies it's definition of "small". Our definition is maximum 6 ideally 4. Lots of words like this in advertising another example from cruising "classic ships" I.e. " old".
  6. As always the “small print” gives X the options to change /cancel anything depending on local conditions. We had similar issues when the gangway off the ship would only allow 4 passengers or 1 wheelchair to disembark at a time. The lines were very long and X immediately suspended all priorities.
  7. Before doing that I would suggest that you just check with the person directly ahead of you if they also have a reservation. Are you sure you pre booked for every night as this has to be done for each night individually ? Did the same issue arise every night?
  8. We always have Select Dining and have cruised Silhouette many times including 4 times since the restart. We always book for every night and have never had the situation you describe. Occasionally they have had booked through the left hand door and walk ins through the right but usually 2 lines for each door. Are you sure you booked for every night? What happened on nights 3 and after?
  9. Nothing that X offers meets our definition of small (except their Private Journeys). The only way to guarantee this is to book a private guide and to share with one or at the most 2 other couples from your Roll Call. Price works out about the same as going with X but the experience is so much better. Lots of company's offer the service, our choice is Toursbylocals.
  10. No contest Silhouette. Did the Fjords last June. Used our "real" balcony every day. Sky lounge, with its great forward views, enhanced seating and rocking chairs was fully utilised all day, every day. Spa Pool also now has rocking chairs and great views. Sorry a cabin with a window that drops down is not a balcony. The tiny, low, straight backed chairs are no substitute for the recling chairs on real balconies. If Infinity balconies are so great: 1) why don't the Suites have them? 2) why doesn't X feature them in any of the TV commercials running in the UK.
  11. If you have any Euros left don't change it back use it for all/part of your onboard tips.
  12. Except in Suites on the ships that have been "revolutionised' no S class cabins have USB ports nor sockets by the beds. There are just 3 outlets all just above the dressing table top - 2 US, 1 European and no British.
  13. I am no expert but reading the various comments it seems that booking with non refundable deposits gives you a lower overall price. Therefore your solution would increase the cruise cost. Surely the current system gives the best of both worlds.
  14. Talinn Old Town is less than 1 kilometre from where the ship docks and all flat. Of course once you get there it's very steep and mostly cobbles but the views are worth it.
  15. Non refundable deposits have applied to all bookings made in the UK for years. Only Post Covid did X started to introduce the "refundable" option. If we have to cancel for medical reasons we simply claim the deposit and any other charges from our travel insurance policy. If we choose to cancel for reasons not covered by our insurance the deposit is lost. Non refundable deposits apply to 99% of all "holiday" packages. These charges are just one reason why we have an annual travel insurance policy that covers cancellation, medical and baggage for all trips upto to 30 days each in a 12 month period (longer trips are charged extra).
  16. We always prebook a time way before boarding day. You can go down to the MDR desk (Select is on Deck 4) but now that the area is used as one of the Safety Check points it doesn't open so early. Expect a wait and don't be surprised if you are told it's too late to book and to just turn up.
  17. Has been open on every Silhouette sailing we have done. We go straight to cabin to drop off bags/ get room cards, then to Al Bacio for a quick coffee/ cake, finally Spa Cafe for a snack away from the crowds. On way back to cabin complete Safety Check at our assigned station.
  18. Not compolsary but for us it makes life a lot easier. We always prebook for every evening. How long you will have to wait on any given night is impossible to answer. It's like any restaurant if a lot of people turn up at the same time there will be lines. Always quicker if you are prepared to share - we always do as for us it's one of the joys of cruising.
  19. It's more to do with insurance than anything else. Look at the description and see if there is an upper age stated. I know this will cause debates about how fit you are or aren't but it's irrelevant if do don't meet the age requirement shown by Celebrity you won't be covered. If this is the case look at independent tours (often by the same companies ) and you will probably find different requirements. Or look at using a private guide, our choice is Toursbylocals, and share the cost with others on your Roll Call. If you go that route book early, we always book first and then look for people to share. Good luck.
  20. Sadly only the suites got new electrics so still no USB outlets or any other changes to the sockets/positions in any other class of cabin.
  21. I would try the same tactic. Separate your items in a with a note that reads " please wash only, do not put in drier and return on hangers. Thank you". You could run this past Guest Relations - I would go early morning or late evening (after 11) when the staff are bored.
  22. A simpler solution is/was to buy it on the ship.
  23. There is a much simpler solution that works for us. When you put your free laundry in add a large note on the slip saying "Please return the laundry on hangers, Thankyou." The items will come back just as if they had been pressed. Don't forget the "please" and "thankyou" as they don't have to do it but it has never failed for us.
