  1. I am so pleased you find this funny. Your first post clearly said no scooters or walkers. Presumably your latest post is intended to be funny. We have friends and relatives who have been in wheelchairs from birth. Others who fight a daily battle to live life as normally as possible. My comment on longer itineraries is based on experience. We regularly due the Transatlantics which can be 15 days add on the time needed to travel from the US to join the ship and then get home again and this brings it to 17 minimum. For many younger passengers being away from work this long is not a viable option.
  2. It makes no difference, for the crew the ship. If you intend to bring some Euros rather than change them back in to πŸ’²use them at the end of the cruise for tips and top up with πŸ’²or anything else if you need to. Once off the ship any cash tips should be in Euros.
  3. Thank you. Just to be clear using a walker or a wheelchair doesn't make you older or less lively either. The main reason X's passengers are older is more to do with the length of the itineraries.
  4. Perry Grove is still going strong. You either love him or hate him. We are in the former group. A word of warning unless you are seated right next to the exit door never leave one if Perry's shows before the end. If you get a chance to see him on the main stage do it. A totally different "act" to his cabaret performance in a smaller venue.
  5. If you do too many in quick succession your card will be frozen in the casino for 24 hours.
  6. Sorry pushed to soon. AI Celebrity has now dropped compolsary AI for all cabins except Aqua and Suites. For all other cabins it's now an option. Importantly in Celebrity speak AI does not mean All Inclusive - it now means All Included - the all being tips, classic drinks package and basic WiFi. Drinks and WiFi can both be upgraded. Is AI good value? Depends on 2 things the amount you drink and your Captains Club status. For new passengers who drink alcohol and speciality coffees/teas almost certainly yes. For passengers who don't drink more than a couple of alcoholic drinks or speciality coffees a day and don't need unlimited WiFi probably not. For anyone Elite + and above who don't drink alcohol definitely not. Other X benefits, more space per passenger, no need to book any shows, great coffee shop (Al Bacio). Dancing/music in Sky Lounge continues late into the night. All comments exclude Edge Class as we haven't cruised on that class. Favourite ships Silhouette and Eclipse.
  7. Just for balance. Celebrity is our preferred choice. However in holiday season there can also be lots of kids. There are passengers with walkers/wheelchairs. My wife uses one and we travel with friends in chairs.
  8. We always play them both at the same time. I play Black the boss (Anita) plays Red and always on a wheel with a single Zero. Perfectly acceptable as we are different people.
  9. Don't worry about Viscount it's a chocolate biscuit with a mint centre (center) - absolutely delicious.
  10. Still not a phrase I had ever heard of. Mind you it came in useful a year later when the door panels in our rental were loose and I confidentially asked for a "swop out" ( my English accent it's an "o" not an "s") πŸ˜‚ and got exactly what I wanted. The guy at the Rental Office was amused that I had used the phrase.
  11. I love the confusion caused and have had many amusing incidents. It also causes great hilarity at dinner with our many American friends. However your assertion that American English is always more logical seems a little optimistic Restrooms? The last place I would rest. Comfort Stations? Even more confusing. or an our last excursion our guide offered as a "technical stop". Jelly ? We have Jelly with ice-cream not on bread. And when we damaged our hire (sorry rental) car and asked for it to be changed the guy from AVIS insisted what we wanted was a "swop out".
  12. You mean butcher (not meat shop) and garage (not auto repair shop). Don't get mad our grandson is Texan and we have exactly the same issues when visiting him. In fact some of my stories of confusion have now been taken up by a local observational comedian on the North Dallas comedy circuit who has included them in his act. For example the fact that there is no "S" in Lego. Kids do not play with their LEGOS just with LEGO. The "S" if needed is added to the bricks.
  13. If you booked with AI pricing that includes basic WiFi, classic drinks and tips.
  14. Also remember that if you order a drink over the Classic limit you only pay the difference in price plus the gratuity on the difference not the full cost. Depending on what and how much you drink it is often much cheaper just to pay the difference on the odd drink rather than pay for the full premium package.
  15. This is the regular conundrum with the Card. On some ships it's one punch for any size of drink. On others it's 2 punches for the bigger drinks. If it's the latter it's cheaper to pay for the drink. Check before you buy.
  16. Obviously your DH is still in training. After 50+ years the answer to all the questions posted on this thread are " I put everything exactly where the boss (Anita) says ". Now all that's left is to enjoy the cruise. Geoff
  17. Yes. However on roulette you have make sure the Croupier gives you cash chips for winnings not more promotional ones. In May we had an issue because when we went to cash out the Croupier refused to give us cash chips insisting that any winnings made with Promotional Chips had to be with more Promotional ones. We asked for the Manager who apologised and said the Croupier was new and he would refund our πŸ’²40 as cash. We pointed out that we had won πŸ’²20 over our original stake. The Manager went off to review the CCTV and when he returned said we hadn't been πŸ’²20 up but πŸ’²25 up! Laughs and handshakes all round. The Slots seem to work differently and there have been numerous posts claiming that people put day πŸ’²50 on, just play a couple of dollars then cash out the remaing πŸ’²48.
  18. Only the electrics in the suites were upgraded. No extension leads. Basically you have to charge everything on the vanity top or the fridge/ safe housing. We ditch the kettle ( we never use it) into the wardrobe to create more space. Also, if you have the bed by the window configuration, you can create a lot of extra space by moving the oval table so it stands half under the dressing table/vanity unit - longest side against the wall. You will have plenty of room to use the chair and you can use half of the table. Geoff
  19. X's excursions sometimes have these odd terms as well. On one cruise there was a tour that included a 2 mile walk along a flat path. The tour accepted accompanied children but no adults over 55. All due to we were told to "insurance issues".
  20. 150, in theory you shouldn't but you will. However if you make too many many small downloads and keep cashing out your card will be frozen in the casino for 24 hours If you want to get most of your OBC as cash and have fun at the same time our preferred method is to play roulette. Buy πŸ’²40 in chips - these will be promotional chips that can't be cashed out. Choose the wheel with a single Zero and a πŸ’²5 minimum bet. Bet the 5 x πŸ’²1 chips each spin with each chip covering 4 numbers. Ensure you don't cover any one number twice. A win gives you πŸ’²8 This basically gives you a 50/50 bet. Keep the winnings separately as these are real cash. Continue to bet with the promotional chips until they are gone. Cash in your winnings and walk away. Repeat daily or however many times you like. Never chase loses. We play this system every cruise and over a whole cruise have only lost once. You will never make a fortune but will have a lot of fun.
  21. A pleasure. I also have the full list of the items we discussed with Gabriella and I would be pleased to email it to you . I gave her this list at our first meeting and she said it helped. The other thing we did, although it may not be practical for you, was because we were B2B, I talked to Gabriella on behalf of the actual organiser during that cruise so everything was fixed before the TA started. Although I said the group size was 40 my notes show it was over 50. The whole Roll Call was very active including 2 book groups, 80 on the Slot Pull, a huge cabin crawl and lots of other things. My email is geoffanita at hotmail dot com. Geoff
  22. Sorry in my earlier post (6) I missed the question about a drinks waiter. The ship was unable to provide this service. We also asked for a chocolate fountain but this was also refused. The ship chose Blu because it doesn't serve lunch which meant the staff had ample time after 4 pm to get the restaurant ready for dinner service.
  23. The box shown in Jim-ians post is not in a normal balcony cabin on Silhouette - only in suites. There are 3 sockets all just above the vanity desk top next to the safe/fridge housing. All 3 are of the 2 pin variety: 2 flat and 1 round. You will adapters for each for your plugs. There are no outlets next to the beds
