  1. Hi Jim, 

        I have many cruises with X like you. I will make a long story short. I used a big TA for many years off and on. My experience is the following when asking for a lower price even after final payment is that they rarely grant a price reduction or obc. The times that I used X agents I have always received a credit or OBC. What they told me is the difference is that TA companies have block rooms and manage those. X has no control over their decisions. It is a complex issue and frustrates us all on this subject. Good luck.

  2. We usually ask room attendant to empty. Month ago we did not. We never used anything and when we got home we had a bill for $16. I called and got them to drop the charge. It took a month to get the credit back on visa. The same thing happened in Sept. Both times on the Edge. Just a hassle. I wish they would let you know before you leave there will be a charge. Over the years we have only had it done three time out of 62 cruises on X. So, we will always ask for the fridge to be emptied.

  3. Your dh will see Fox New, MSNBC, Sky news, and another British news station. Think CNN but not sure. I was on Silhouette and Edge recently. The sports stations are Spanish ESPN and another sports station. There are several special stations that they use for events like NFL and MLB and then there are several ship station that are standard.

  4. send email to special_needs@celebrity.com to order distilled water and extension cord. I have done in Oct and Dec. If you forget you can just ask your cabin steward. I always send email just in case that do not have enough. That happens when capacity increases. 

  5. Last week we cruised on the Silhouette and prior to cruise we tried to use our discount to upgrade to premium thru home computer and then tried to call twice. After spending many minutes on the phone on hold, I decided I would try on the ship. Usually we go to Cafe al Bacio and do it but I decided to go to Guest Services and use the discount of Elite plus. I found out like many of you that you can do only prior to boarding by calling CC. (Hard to believe with wait times when calling so long while you would force people to call) Anyway, I asked the Guest relations person on board anyway. Well she listened and she then upgraded us by billing regular price and said she would take our story, give us our upgrade, and then she would ask her supervisor and he would decide whether to grant the discount. Well like most Celebrity problems that have happened with us if you bring your problem to someone of authority on the ship they take care of it. Days later we got the discount onboard. I still do not understand why they do not set up their computer system to give discount on line in the first place. Then it would feel like a perk.

    By the way the cruise was outstanding and one of the best in 62 cruises. It is nice with only 1300 people on board.  

  6. We just got off the Silhouette on Friday and the edge last month. The Silly went to the ABC islands and the internet surf was terrible throughout the cruise. We went to ILounge and the tech there explained that if you are elite or higher you can use your minutes and they are as Jim said earlier they are the Extreme and can be used even when you have a surf package. We wanted to FaceTime with the family on thanksgiving with our surf package and could not, but we could have with our minutes if that makes any sense. On the Edge we had the package that came with the retreat which was the extreme and we could do anything and coverage was great. So, every voyage and every ship is different and even packages can vary on quality. 

  7. We just got off the Silhouette today. We were only checked once for our papers on the test and the vax card. The whole process was very fast and no lines. We boarded at 1200. Our time to check in was 1230. 

    Very few masks seen whole 11 days. Only to board and get off. We were told masks were needed in ABC islands but after off ship none were needed. 

  8. 99% of my gripes have something to do with the IT department at X. I spoken to many IT people at X including the Head who happened to be on a cruise with us and President. They just do not have the people and resources and desire to fix things. Every change makes something else worse. Once on the ship all is ok. We leave Monday for an eleven day cruise. 

  9. This will not make you feel any better but I have the same situation. On November 5 I booked a cruise for November 22. I have received e docs and they show no anything. I asked TA and she said we have al. Like you I have been trying to upgrade Classic to Premium but have been unable to do so. I do not mind waiting until boarding but there is so my anxiety trying to find out if we will have AI or not. This should not happen. 

    We have had this happen in the past when using a TA. X takes a week or so to show the AI package anywhere. 

    So, what I will do is wait until Monday and if nothing shows anywhere I will ask TA to investigate again and find out again if X will affirm our perks. 

     

  10. I finally went on today and I could not find the country tab. After two weeks of trying like you, today I finally went on site and completed all the tabs. Then when I filled in my email address country and then state appeared. So I think I will get tags. 

    Last month I received my tags upon return from my edge cruise. Oh what we do if there was a good IT department on Royal and X. Good thing cruises are excellent.

  11. We had a recent Edge cruise. I tried to luggage tags and said not available. Then we printed them at last minute. Funny thing is we received in mail when we received our held mail the day after we got home. I do not even remember put the information in so they could send. Wife and I laughed when the opened mail.

  12. We just got off the Edge. We had 1400 dollars of OBC, 800 refundable. We bought two bottles of Alcohol and did lunch at the bistro twice. Then went to casino and did the roulette table three days and spent 400 and took home 375 in cash. The 800 was credited back to my X card, not our visa that we used on the ship checkin process. That was strange, but I understand why(to save money). Weird thing I did not give that card to anyone. Enjoy.
