  1. About two years ago, Carnival offered $200 OBC under a limited time ES promo. That was the only time I remember Carnival went above and beyond the usual $50 ES OBC perk.

Yes, I have not seen this $200 OBC offer since then. That was a great deal. I booked 2 cruises under this offer. One I took last year in April. The second cruise under this offer I will be taking in April finally.

  2. My Elation cruise last April missed Half Moon Cay and Carnival substituted Key West. Unfortunately our ship departed KW in mid afternoon. I would have liked to stay longer. I walked around all day. Shopping, drinking, eating and getting some sun at the pier. I went to Amigos Tortilla Bar. Great food and beer. Try the frozen chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick at one of the tourist stores. That was really good. This is one of the best ports to just walk around and explore. Just get an early start since the ships do leave early. Have fun.

  3. If you haven't done it yet, look at our Cruise Director's facebook page"Marcelo Marshmallow" and drill down to the Carnival Fascination 2.0 video. Marcelo posted video of the new venues from the status of last week. It gives a great view of what we can expect. Take a look if you have not already. Thanks for the update Marcelo.

  4. Soo excited to go on the ship. Glad to see it getting upgrades.

Does anyone know if all of the palm trees are going, or just some? I love the look of them by the pool.

In CD Marcelo's facebook page, it shows a video of the palm trees being taken down and they would be trashed. He did not say they would be replaced. Hopefully they will be replaced. It did give the deck a tropical feel.

Go to the Marcelo Marshmello Facebook page to check out all of the Fascination videos.

  5. The CD, Marcelo Marshmallow, has been posting videos on his facebook page if you would like to see the upgrades.

I saw Marcelo's Fascination videos on Facebook. It will be great to have Marcelo's video updates. Thanks for letting us know.:):)

  6. I booked my Fascination cruise at +500 days out. It is now at 113 days. I did take a Conquest and Elation cruise in between. I am certainly looking forward to my April 2018 Fascination cruise. April is a great time of year to cruise in the Caribbean. I have one excursion booked so far which is the Snorkel between the Pitons from St Lucia which will be a new Island for me. Everyone, enjoy your Fascination cruises.

  7. Arrived in San Juan this morning. Staying at Hotel Casablanca in Old San Juan until we sail on the Jewel on Sunday.

No issues at the airport. Shops and restaurants open. 2 minute wait at the taxi stand and we were on our way. Our taxi driver Carmen still has no water or electricity after 80 days but she was still in good spirits.

We got to Hotel Casablanca at noon and it was too early to check in but they held our bags so we could walk around and get some lunch. They have power' date=' AC and running water. Most restaurants and shops were open this afternoon. Some places still running on generators. Looking forward to our time here!

Glad to read things worked out. What was the taxi fare from the airport to OSJ? Enjoy your cruise!

  8. I posted this in another hotel thread:

We had booked Hotel Milano for Nov. 23 & 24 and they cancelled us. We had paid in full and never received our money back after several unanswered telephone calls and emails. We stayed at the hostel two doors down from Hotel Milano, so we went in to inquire about getting our money back. Yes, they said they have electricity...but they only have 2 rooms available and they have had problems with those rooms. We were told to come back in the morning when the manager was there to ask about our refund. The next morning we went in and got the run around again. Were told to email the manager.

Once onboard the ship our friends ran into a couple who actually occupied one of the two rooms, There were problems in the room and it was not clean. They wished they had never stayed. I’d be careful in believing that they are fully functional. I think it will he a battle to get our money back.

Sorry to read about your refund issue, Hopefully that gets worked out.

I'm book at Hotel Milano in April. Hopefully these issues are straightened out by then. I was wondering if I should just book at another hotel because there was no word if they would re-open. I will keep the reservation for now and see what others say as it gets closer to April. I am looking forward to sailing the Southern Caribbean itinerary, especially now since it is our first snow of the season.

  9. Only problem is there have been reports that the sandwiches have been premade. Prefer them made to order so I can get it my way.

I like them made to order also. Maybe they are doing this to reduce the lines at the deli. They should also figure out something to reduce the lines at the pizzaria. They never have enough pizza ready and this leads to the long lines like the deli.

  10. I plan on taking this cruise in Oct 2018. I have never done a river cruise but reading the itinerary, what included and the reviews, it looks like it will be a great cruise. I haven't booked it yet but I hope to soon.

Definitely come back here and let us know how you liked it. Enjoy your April cruise and your stay in New Orleans.

  11. I was looking at those cruises that call putting you up in a hotel as one day of the cruise, and found it, frankly off putting. I like to make my own choices of a hotel and actually live close enough to New Orleans to easily get there with a short flight the morning of departure, Being forced to pay for a hotel room you might not like, want or need is the reason I decided against the river trip.

No need to be off put by the hotel. You can apply for a credit if you don't use the hotel.

  12. I have this itinerary booked on Anthem in March. I did a similar 8 day itinerary a few years ago on Carnival Splendor in January our of NYC. It did start to warm up on the second morning when we were off the coast of the Carolinas but not really warm enough to sun bathe comfortably. Even our day in Florida was very cold (for Florida standards) and windy. It was not an enjoyable day at Port Canaveral. The weather in Nassau and Freeport was really nice and warm and the water was warm enough to swim. I expected it to be a rough cruse but it was nice and calm both directions.

Have a great cruise on Anthem.
