  1. You're welcome. I have done all these variations to get to and from Cape Liberty with luggage. I just haven't tried Uber yet. Leaving Cape Liberty the taxi dispatcher offers a $6 shuttle to the light rail station, but you might have to wait for the shuttle to fill.

Great information. I guess there is no shuttle from the light rail to Cape Liberty? Why would the shuttle only be for the return? Is it a security issue? I would rather deal with a shuttle than Uber.

  2. Thanks for the info! The package I'm looking at also has a bottle of champagne and two flutes so it seems to cover all of the bases.

I purchased a similar package and everything was great quality. The champagne tasted good and I am usually not a fan of champagne. The flutes were a good weight and came in a box to protect them. The shirts were a good fabric weight but ran a little small so order one size larger if you want a looser fit. The towels are not as nice as the beach towels in the cabin but are colorful and also a good weight. The sun visors are sturdy and made well. My package also included a $25 bar credit and a Carnival tote bag. Overall I found this Carnival package to be a great value for everything I received in it.

  3. Carnival use to have solo rate. Those are gone. Try to score a 1A cabin for the cheapest rate. You will still pay double but it is the best rate. I have always cruised Carnival, 12 cruises in total. But now I have my first cruise as a solo booked with Royal Caribbean. They have some great solo rates out of the NYC (Bayonne, NJ port). I hate to not cruise with Carnival but Carnival is forcing me to cruise on Royal Caribbean for the first time for Carnival's lack of solo rates. I'll see how I like Royal.

  4. The $20 medium rare sirloin I ordered on Paradise came out very well done and tasted like pot roast. The maitre d comped the steak. On another night I ordered a medium rare flat iron. It came out medium but was tender enough and had a really good beef taste. I guess it is all in the cooking process. i will order the flat iron in the future.

  5. 90 minutes is a long time for a meal!!

If you're by yourself, you can get your food, eat, and get out in 30-45 minutes or however long it takes you then get out and go on with your evening. That's one of the reasons my family doesn't sit with anyone else. An hour is long enough for a dinner.

So true. If I want to see a show then I dine alone and get out within 45 minutes.

  6. Great review so far. I like the idea of ordering peanut butter with the warm melting cake. I also enjoy the butter pecan ice cream. It is full of pecans. Next time I will have to give the fried shrimp with the fried rice. That looked really good. Carnival did not have the seaday brunch on my last cruise. Due to weather, our seaday was cancelled and we had a port day in Key West instead. I will have to remember to get the steak and eggs the next time.

    Thanks for posting your review.:)

  7. Be careful of buying bottles in the Steakhouse for the whole cruise. Some Steakhouse managers insist that every bottle must be opened when purchased at the discounted price. This happened on the Miracle. YMMV

I was told the same thing on Conquest but they did not open them anyway I think because I had a reservation for the steakhouse later in the week. The different steakhouses seem to handle this differently.

If I don't finish a bottle I will take it with me. One time they disposed of it in the steakhouse by mistake when they offered to store it for another night.

  8. I can never figure out why people would stay on board in Nassau. This is one of those great ports that has so much to do within walking distance. Beaches, shopping, restaurants, bars are all close and very nice. I have enjoyed Nassau every time I have been there. Definitely get off the ship in Nassau. I may give the British Colonial Hilton a try the next time I am there. That sound like a fun day.

  9. Great, thanks for all your thoughts! I would just hate to miss a port because of an engine issue that comes up at the end of 2018 and them not wanting in invest in fixing it that close to when she leaves Carnival. I have heard great things about the Splendor, so I am very excited, just a lot can happen in 18 months before we sail on her.

If you really are that concerned, then you should try another ship. It is not worth stressing over this so far in advance with so many other options available. Enjoy Splendor. It is one of my favorite ships.

  10. I did the Elation Bahamas cruise out of Jacksonville in April. I had a great time. In Freeport, I booked an excursion directly with Paradise Cove. Carnival did not offer it. It is a beach/snorkeling excursion. Paradise Cove picked you up and dropped you back at the ship. You have the option to snorkel or just lounge on the beach. You also have the option to purchase food. Check out their website. I highly recommend this excursion. It is not very crowded and the staff was very nice,:)

  11. We made our 940 am flight . They start letting folks walk off at 7 am .

My last 2 cruises out of Tampa and Jacksonville both had hold ups at customs on debarkation. I did not get to my airport pickup van until 9:30am on for both cruises and I had self assist. Tampa was really slow and Jacksonville only had 2 customs people handling the debarkation. Good luck with that.
