  1. Can't wait to see the dailies also. Considering this itinerary in Feb 2015.

Tom, by Feb 2015 dress code will probably what u are looking for. More relaxed every year. P.S. Mailed the dailies to Carol last Mon, she should have today depending on the weather up there. Stormy

  2. Wow, what was the group??? Any WHY were they banned from Carnival??

The group was aprox 700 folks brought together by several travel agents whom sponser annual events. Don't know all the particulars. Never asked why they were banned from CCL. But it sure looked like a CCL cruise.

  3. Guess I may draw some enemy fire on this, but this whole "dress code" thing on Celebrity is one of the few detractors on my upcoming first cruise this June. I wear business attire all year long and in the warm months like to wear shorts and polo, Tommy Bahamas or button down shirts along with the occasional flip flops (Gasp!!!) almost everywhere I go. With the exception of the flip-flops, I'd put my evening summer shorts wardrobe up agains most any "smart casual" wardrobe.

For example I go on an annual week long golf tournament in Mexico and there are two or three evening events that have "golf/warm weather attire" dress codes. The 400+ golfers all know what this means Shorts or slacks and Tommy Bahamas, with the occasional polo golf shirt. These are wonderful events for a tropical climate and every golfer abides by the rules. Wish Celebrity would take into consideration the climate and time of year in similar fashion.

With that said I am fully aware of Celebrity's dress code and will follow it. It's one of the reasons we chose to sail AQ class so we don't have to "dress up" for the formal nights. I think at some point the Cruise industry is going to have to reexamine the formal night events, especially on warm weather/summer cruises. Just my .02.

    Cheers

Formal nites are usually all indoor events. What has warm weather got to do with the way we dress. I would like to see a ban on ball caps, flipflops and tank tops in any indoor venue. I started cruising X for the attire most people wear. On last weeks cruise found out their is no longer a dress code.

  4. Over the years we have been on the same page about X and we are here also. We who sail X often know this was not a normal Celebrity sailing. But the cruisers who are new to X do not, they think it is the 'normal' and go, Meh! What are all the long timers talking about. I too hope they give X another try.

I do too "hope they give X another try" because I will be on some other cruise lines.

  5. On the same cruise and not in a hurry to go on another with X. Actually thought was on a Carnival cruise. Only CCL would have been more to my expectations. First time on X seen so many men in MDR evenings in work in the garden looking shorts, tee's and rubber flip flops. Some of the group even told me they were banned on Carnival.

  6. Really?? I have been cruising since the 80's. This stuff never used to happen. It is just in the recent years that you hear of this and it is getting more and more common. The cruise lines have cut back on everything. When you have thousands of people confined to a ship there are going to be germs and Yes, it is the cruise line's responsibility to prevent these germs from spreading around all over the place. Have servers at the buffets, disinfect more often, do what ever it takes to keep your customers safe and happy.

Been cruising since 1978. This stuff has been happening, just not reported as much as in the past few years. Tell me, why don't the cruise lines just cut back on Noro?

  7. Just returned and upgraded onboard for $11.50. Drink limit was upped to $13.00. Had a glass of wine at Cellar Masters that was $13.50 and BT charged the 50 cents. First time that ever happen and I gave a $2.00 tip. He was apologetic and said the company was watching very closely. Told him no problem. The wine was nasty, couldn't even drink it.

  8. At breakfast and lunch, yes. Dinner they won't let you in if they notice. I have seen the crew turn away passengers in shorts at dinner. Also at the elegant tea they would not allow shorts.

I am not the shorts police. I could care less. I am just telling it as it is.

Just off the 1/20 Constellation and men in shorts, tee's and flip flops in the MDR everynite except formal. Probably some then but did not notice. And by flip flops, mean the rubber ones for shower or beach. Might as well sail CCL or NCL. More fun. IMO

  9. Sorry no menu's from AQ or MDR. Don't want to throw a wet blanket on next X cruise for anyone but not in a hurry to sail again on X. Did the Constellation 12/9 when aprox 300 Celebrity personel on board. All very well dressed and mannered. Big boss onboard probably why. On 1/20 Connie, a group of 701 and many told me they were banned from Carnival. Need I say more...

  10. Phone is ok, but scanning will get a better resolution......but I'll take anything I can get!!!!

    Thanks to all!!!!

Will mail them to you after my 1/20 cruise then u can scan for everyone. Will advise my email so u can advise mailing address. Stormy Looked but only can find 2 from my 12/9 sailing.

  11. i guess i'm not alone here when it comes to cds. I have been an official "grumpy old man" for many years (no comments about dw) and have never had a desire to participate in organized activities on land, sea or air.

After 23 cruises i can only remember 1 cd and that was an extremely capable and talented, incredibly beautiful young woman named shannon who was the acting cd on the norwegian crown.

The rest simply did their jobs and were either more or less annoying than normal. Jmo, but if i needed organized activities i would go to summer camp.

    like!!

  12. For the last time, to upgrade from classic to preminum is $11.50 per day inc luding tip. Where do peeps come up with $5 to $10 a day more if done on board. Show me. It costs more to buy a pkg on board then b/4 u cruise. Must be purchased 4 days b/4 cruise.

  13. We've been on over 20 cruises and I couldn't for a million dollars name one Cruise Director we've had. I know we see then introduce the stage act's and stand next to the Capitan at social events but I don't get the idea of falling in love with them. We've been on enough cruises to be able to figure out what to do and when to do it so we don't need an activity coach.

Would someone tell about people who follow them from ship to ship and why they dole on about them.

Sorry to sound bitter but I think this cold weather is getting to me.

    J.

Been on over 70 cruises past 35 years and could care less about who's the CD. Never had one make or break a cruise for me.
