  1. I'm talking with someone now and on hold. Nothing is showing up for me either, the excursion is still there. The credit would be nice for their mistake, but only if I can get Atlantis back! And right now the (sold out) price is $100 more pp than I originally booked at.
  2. I am waiting on a call back right now. They should honor it. That was almost a WEEK ago, and the price was available all day. Not our fault they undercharged and didn't discover their mistake. I am going to fight to get the excursion back and at the original price I paid if they won't honor it. That is the only excursion we have booked on the cruise and the one place we wanted to go. Now over $300 AND it's sold out for our cruise! So now we lose it altogether? The OBC doesn't help with that
  3. I already had it booked at $208 pp. Took the chance and cancelled that and rebooked. Saved $572 😮 Hopefully they honor it! Price for 4 was barely more than the original price for 1.
  4. Thanks for the review! We're on deck 9 in May with connecting insides. How are you liking the general deck location?
  5. It's crazy. No way would we drink that much. We all got the soda pkg + Internet for 22.99 on sale. We have $400 total OBC. We'll use that for any other drinks, alcoholic or not. Not sure what else we'd spend it on anyways, other than the Escape room if we can get it.
  6. Forgot to add...depending on dates, either of these may come in BELOW your budget range.
  7. Can recommend both the Hampton Inn Times Square North and Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central. Have stayed at both, and both have room options with 2 beds. We did not have a City view with the Hampton but they may be available. We had a Times Square "ball" view at the Hilton which was fun. Both are very clean, nothing too fancy. Hampton has an included breakfast, Hilton does not (sooo many great cafes and bagel places that we didn't find this to be very important but it might be nice to grab something quick before heading to the port on that morning). Both are very walkable to both Times Square (right there really, especially for the Hilton) and Central Park. Also to Rockafeller Center, St. Patricks, Grand Central Station. Both very convenient to the subway to get downtown (9/11 Memorial/Museum, Statue of Liberty) or other areas. I would stay at either again for sure.
  8. Sorry you and your daughter suffer the same! My kids have it more mildly, mainly my son. He’ll be taking the Bonine preventatively like me. My husband is the lucky one who has never experienced it in his life!
  9. No competition at all. But I think most motion sickness sufferers know the difference between constipation and being motion sick. Maybe some who are new to it do avoid food and drink, but most who have it lifelong know an empty stomach is the worst! I think motion sickness on a cruise hits long before constipation would be an issue. oh and I agree on the water slides- forward is fun- backwards is a disaster! Sorry the drugs don’t work as well for you!
  10. surprised by the posters insinuating that seasickness is not real, is “in people’s heads” or is really another issue (constipation?). I assure you that many people truly do get seasick and often have motion sickness in many other areas of life. It is actually insulting to suggest that people are talking themselves into it. I have dealt with severe motion sickness my entire life, some of my earliest memories involve getting carsick. Most amusement rides were never possible, even a playground swing makes me dizzy. As another poster said…floating on a raft in a backyard pool. Lazy rivers I have to have my feet touching the bottom. Cannot ride in the backseat of a car, buses are bad. I have to look out the windshield of any vehicle at all times. I also had hyperemesis gravidarum during both my pregnancies and had to be hospitalized/medicated, seemed to be related. None of this is in my head, it’s a physical ailment and is for so many others as well. count yourself lucky if you do not suffer from it instead of not-so-subtly degrading those who do. We know what it is. You clearly do not. That said, Bonine is wonderful and has allowed me to cruise!
  11. I have heard yes and no. I don’t think we’ll risk it. Hoping for maybe a President’s Day sale with a discount in the excursion
  12. Well I certainly didn't comment on if the food was good or not! Was just pointing out how funny it is how differently people like to vacation. I'm sure there's things I spend money on vacation that others think is just plain nutty too. That's all I meant!
  13. Funny you say that...... to each his own but I've wondered about paying extra to eat "fine dining" in the middle of the day on a beach. I don't eat seafood to begin with, but I also don't really want a steak or "fancy" food for lunch, and especially not in a bathing suit. I prefer more casual food for lunch anywhere and especially on a beach. But again, to each their own!! I can see it being an "only on vacation" kind of thing.
  14. Have stayed at both the Hampton Inn Times Square North and the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central. Would recommend either. If you just have one afternoon/evening, I'd recommend staying near Times Square. Walk to Central Park while there's still daylight and explore there. Times Square is fun to see at night. Also highly recommend one of the night open-top bus tours. These are the ones that usually do hop-on/off during the day (I've seen these NOT recommended) but we did a night tour and it was great! With your very limited time, this would allow you to see some other areas/sites- like the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, Brooklyn Bridge, Flat Iron building, etc. Check Groupon for cheaper tickets for one of these tours. If you have more time, using the subway was easy for us to get around. The Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island ferry is great to do once. Other times, we've done the free Staten Island ferry just to get a look. You may get a look from your ship though?? 9/11 museum is wonderfully done, but takes a lot of time and impacts your mood of course. If you want to do an observation deck I'd recommend Top of the Rock during the day or Summit One Vanderbilt at night. If you really only have one half-day or less, I'd recommend: head to a Times Square hotel, check in and drop your stuff, walk to Central Park and see what you can while it's still light, walk back to Times Square and grab a bite to eat, maybe just a slice of pizza to save time. Do a nighttime bus tour. And if you still have energy, walk over and do Summit One Vanderbilt, they're open late, til midnight maybe?
  15. Only been to Baltimore once but we stayed at the Homewood Suites on the Inner Harbor. Highly recommend. Close to everything, including Fells Point which we enjoyed. D.C. - spend a lot of time there as that's where DD goes to college. Being right on the Metro is important unless you stay right near the Mall. We always stay in Rosslyn, Arlington VA which is right across the Potomac from Georgetown, D.C. Safe area, affordable and very convenient. Metro is right there which can take you to the Smithsonians, monuments, White House, etc. Also, Georgetown area is not on a Metro stop, but you are a 1 mile walk over the Key Bridge or you can take the $1 D.C. Circulator bus over the bridge right to M street (main "drag" in Georgetown). Great neighborhood for dinner and shopping at night after touring all the "DC stuff" during the day. We've stayed at both the Residence Inn and the Hyatt Place in Rosslyn and recommend either. Depends on bed needs and price which one we choose. As Princeton recommended above, with only 2 days...I'd choose D.C. So much to see and do and most of it is free! October is a beautiful time to walk and explore. You'll have to pick and choose which museums. The Holocaust Museum is fantastically done, but very difficult subject matter of course. Takes a few hours and will impact your mood (as it should) for at least the day. In my opinion, save for a longer trip. Natural History Museum and American History Museum (probably my favorite) are great. We did the U.S. Botanical Garden this past October, just beautiful. Definitely walk and see the White House and all the monuments. If length of walking is an issue, there is another DC circulator bus that does a circle around the monuments, again for only $1. The zoo we went once just to see the pandas since you can't see those at most other zoos. Old Post Office is a good place to get a free "view" of the city. Lots of info, sorry! Feel free to ask more specifics as you get planning. If you decide on DC...I'll be there at least 2-3 more times before October, so if I don't know....I can try to check!
  16. This is making me reconsider about how I want to book our Atlantis day. Was planning to do the Comfort Inn but the cancellation deadline is 2 days before arrival. Excursion through the ship is about $250 more but I’d assume would be refunded if the ship can’t dock?
  17. Thank you SO much! This is very helpful! I think we'll skip KSC for now. Just seems like not enough time. That UberX plan to the pier, some beach time, stop for a snack and some shopping sounds like an ideal plan. We'll probably do lunch on the ship before we dock, go spend a few hours and then head back to the ship for a later dinner. Thanks again!
  18. We will be on the Oasis of the Seas on May 21, out of NJ. First port is Canaveral, but from 1 pm - 9 pm. We are interested in Kennedy Space Center, but guessing that doesn't make any sense with how late we arrive? Do they close at 5 pm even in the late Spring? The other excursion we'd consider is just the shuttle to Cocoa Beach. We'd likely enjoy some beach time and just some wandering around. My daughter would probably like to go to Ron Jon's. Is the shuttle the best way or would Uber be better? Any other suggestions for other activities at this port? I think we'd like to get off the ship for a few days at least. We have 3 full sea days already plus hoping for an early embarkation so 3 1/2. Thanks for any recommendations/advice!
  19. Not renewal but my husband and son go today for first-time and when I made the appointment, I was told to expect 9 weeks.
  20. I think that’s only for same-day bookings. Ie. You can’t walk up and book and get the Atlantis passes. You have to book in advance…and bear the cancellation risk
  21. We’ll be in Atlantis in May on Oasis of the Seas. My family of 4 (2 adult kids) would like to do Atlantis. There’s currently about a $200 difference between booking the day pass shore excursion and booking a night at the Comfort Inn to get the passes. I’m wondering if I’m missing any benefits to still booking the more expensive excursion? I’m guessing the biggest difference would be if the ship couldn’t dock for some reason. Royal would refund our money I’m assuming while the Comfort Inn room has a cancellation deadline of a few days before. Transportation included with the excursion but likely only one way. It’s only listed as 5 hours and I doubt we’d want to head back to the ship that early. So that’s almost negligible difference. Just want to make sure I’m not missing any other benefits to the excursion and/or cons to the Comfort Inn. Thank you!
  22. Can I ask....did the lot near abandoned warehouses seem safe to leave your car? Were you worried about it at all? I just got a new car that I had to order and wait months for...I'm still sort of "babying" her lol. Also, was there transportation or did you walk the half mile? We're going in May so hopefully nice weather
  23. I don't have any info on using this ferry on cruise days, but my daughter and I have used the ferry on two trips to NYC in the past and we love it. Inexpensive, great views, very convenient. Highly recommend it for travel in/out of Manhattan. We'll be sailing out of Bayonne in May, but want to come a day early and tour Manhattan. My husband and son have never been. We'll be driving from Ohio so thinking of driving to Port Imperial and staying at the Envue (need a room for 4 adults) for the night prior to the cruise. We'd drive to the Bayonne port in the morning. So thank you lx200gps for that info!!
