I'm on my 12th cruise. The thought of it never really appealed to me. My DS is on his 3rd and wanted to check it out. I heard they give away a lot of stuff, so we'll go.

We have never been to the Welcome Aboard Show. We are cruising with our son and family and they want to go to this show. Is this on embarkation night and what time?

What do you ladies put in laundry bag?
Butterbean1000 replied to living at the beach's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We'll be flying to the port this cruise, so I will be downsizing my packing. So I will be trying the laundry service. Lots of good info here. I won't have to pack two sets of traveling clothes. I hate wearing shorts on a plane. -
Hahaha, that's South Carolina to the unwashed.

Sad news today on our Miracle cruise
Butterbean1000 replied to tree.critter's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I can't imagine to horror. Praying for strength and peace for all affected. -
Before I was platinum, we would get it, but it was only $50. The price for FTTF on our upcoming 7 day cruise is $140. There are no tendered ports and your cabin won't be ready. The only benefit is the GS line, but even that is not worth $140.

Just off Freedom, 2 out of 10.

The Hubs really likes the meatball sandwich. I liked the old deli. Some of the best sandwiches I had on a Carnival ship was on the Fantasy. -
It's a crap shoot. We booked our upcoming cruise about a year ago. FTTF appeared a few months later and was available for a very long time. It is now not showing. When we used to buy it, we would check around the time of final payment. Sometimes it would come available then. Other times, it would be available a couple of weeks before embarkation day. Once we were able to buy it at time of booking. As stated before, I think it is based on how many Plats/diamonds are booked, but who really knows? Just keep checking periodically. Good luck.

I love a good Reuben and heard how good Carnival's were. I tried one and it was mostly fat. This was a few years back on one of the Conquest ships. I would like to try it again on my upcoming cruise. Are they still fatty? -
Is there any shopping at Half Moon Cay?
Butterbean1000 replied to Megan_Strick's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Yes, there are the usual port gift shops. -
Gotcha, thanks.

So you're saying even though I put it on my credit card, they will apply it to my S&S acct, with tip and then remove the amount I put on my cc leaving the tip. We're using gift cards to fund the S&S acct. I'm guessing the service will be deducted from that. This just sounds so convoluted to me.

Just off the Magic (Mar 30 - Apr 6) (writeup)
Butterbean1000 replied to Sabalon's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Great review, thank you. The Magic is one if our favorite ships. We are booked on her next month. The last time I was on her I was pre-surgery and had to get around on a knee scooter. I'm really looking forward to being able to get around on the ship. I have heard that the Magic is in poor shape and needs some TLC. How did you find her, other than the bathroom issues? Also what terminal did you leave from? BTW, we're on Lake Lanier and Go Dawgs! -
I booked a service for 159 that goes for up to 199. My card was charged 159. So what I'm wondering is the 18% tip at the time of service. I'm guessing that will be applied to my S&S card. Like I stated before, I've never booked anything pre-cruise.
-
OK, I just spoke with Carnival. The price that states starting at......is the discounted price. When you go to book, it will show times and dates with a red flag. Those are the "up to 33% off" times and dates. I have never booked pre-cruise before so I never noticed this. I always wait to book once on board. I was expecting to have to put in a promo code

We received an email today for up to 33% off spa services on our upcoming Magic cruise The link does not work. Has anyone received this offer? How does it work? We are booked in a spa balcony. I plan on calling Carnival, but they have already closed tonight.

I can handle loud kids having fun (as long as it's not in the hallway late at night😉)

That's a good question. I have never used a Brita, we have a reverse osmosis filter on our sink.

We will continue to buy their water and pay their prices. I have drunk ship water and it tastes fine. However, even though it goes through a desalinization process, there is still a lot of salt in it. I swell up noticeably when I drink it. I still think it is worth the hassle it used to be bringing on your own.

You're braver than I am. Good luck and have a great cruise.
