  1. I've seen you post these locations before. Do you have a vested interest in these two places? First of all, the link to Jacqui o's is not valid. Second, turners beach bar she's NOT attract hoards of cruise passengers.

  2. No need to post "to share a taxi". Just take a shared shuttle minibus from the port, there will be many going there as it is a destination for the Cruise Herds and tours. Outside the port gate will be many taxi Captains touting for business. Ask for "Turners". If you do not wish to be part of a mass migration, there are better options.

Just curious which beach(es) you would recommend over Turner's Beach Bar, and why?

  3. DD and I will be in Antigua for the day in early January. I want to take her to Turners Beach Bar for the day. I've posted on my roll call to invite others to join, but so far no interest.

Do you think it is safe for my daughter and I to take a cab by ourselves to Turners?

  4. You only get the perks and prices that are part of a group booking. Another reason to compare ALL details of a booking before you commit. You may have received a better deal. Just ask your TA, since they would have to contact Celebrity for you. Enjoy.

Nah, I got a Great deal already. Just never realized what perks I got with Classic until now.

  5. Please explain this to me. I was reading over the "Classic" member benefits and it states that I am eligible for one category upgrade with my Classic membership.

I book through an online travel agency and the cabin I received was part of a group. Is this still eligible for an upgrade, and if so, do I ask my travel agent to check on it or do I need to call Celebrity directly?

    Thanks!

  6. With the excursions, it depends on how adventurous you are. Hubby and I never take the ship's excursions. We prefer to venture out on our own and either book an adventure through a local tour company, or just taxi cab it to wherever we want to explore. I am not a person who enjoys getting herded on a bus with 50 other cruise passengers. MUCH cheaper to do it on your own, and you get more of the taste of the location you are visiting that way.

  7. Venice, Dubrovnik and Greek Islands any day, then try Barcelona next time!

We did the Classic Med cruise on the Equinox 2 years ago. Started in Barcelona (NOT to miss. One of my favorite cities ever) and hit Monte Carlo, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Rome (loved Rome, but wouldn't do it from a cruise again), Greece, Dubrovnik, and ended in Venice. In our opinion, this was a perfect itinerary.

  8. Do they still serve a small buffet in the Sunset Bar during sailaway from each of the ports? There was always music accompanying, and this was the highlight of our last cruise on the Summit.

They did not do this on the Equinox, however and we really missed it.

  9. So glad to hear this. DD is an absolute fanatic for cheese (especially bleu cheese). When hubby and I were on the Equinox in the Mediterranean two years ago, there was NO bleu cheese to be found anywhere. I kept having to ask someone and then they'd go hunt some down.

Where might we find this yummy cheese station on the Summit?

  10. Thanks for the review. Two quick questions:

Did you notice if Cafe Al Bacio had Black and White cookies?

Did the Sunset Bar have a small buffet set up for sailaway from each port? Was there entertainment in the Sunset Bar during sailaway from each port? We sailed the Summit Southern Caribbean one time before, and this setup each day we left port was the highlight of our trip.

    Thanks!
