The final payment date is clearly on the invoice, which one receives after booking or making any changes. I’ve never received a reminder and have never missed final payment. I don’t think there’s any hard and fast rule about it. I’m fine with the way it works.

Either interpretation is correct. I just made final payment on a cruise and didn’t get any reminder email from Royal. I feel it’s up to me to remember and with belonging to the roll call, many are talking about it…and it’s on my calendar. I would be ticked at myself for forgetting, but of course..some catastrophic event could occur…so it’s possible to miss the date. I’m happy it worked out for her despite the lapse.

Perhaps the beverage is mis-named. Should be called very low alcohol content wine. FYI I don’t drink it, so it makes no difference to me what happens.

They may or may not. But if they do grumble, I would pull out the bottle and show them the zero alcohol content. I did it before when I had a half bottle size of something non-alcoholic. Also, if it’s one person with one bottle, they shouldn’t be checking anyway because one is allowed to bring one bottle at least.

I would think that non-alcoholic wine would have the same status as water or soda in the carry-on.

I had the Chef’s Table meal on Celebration in November, 2022. All the pictures looked very familiar. Chances are that your meal will be the same. It was excellent!

I’m not delusional, thank goodness…it must be..cans only for Carnival, and plastic only for Royal. I cruise mostly on Royal, but honestly couldn’t remember who took my plastic bottles of Pepsi. Now that Carnival serves Pepsi..I don’t have to think about bringing any. But will have to on Royal…and I’m not trying to start a Pepsi vs Coke war, so please don’t comment on my choice. Thanks for everyone’s help. 😊

Sure not like that coming into Canada. One is allowed one 40-oz bottle of liquor duty and tax free….but anything extra with alcohol in it is taxed up the ying-yang. Not worth it really…might as well buy it at one’s local liquor store. Mind you, if you’re lookimg for a particular liquor not sold in Canada, then it’s like you bought yourself a souvenir.

Maybe, if you can somehow trade that US OBC into Canadian $$. If you spend it on board, then it’s worth the same as if an American spent it. I know what you’re meaning, but it’s really not worth any more for a Canadian. Only refundable US OBC is worthwhile to me. I can take it home with me.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. One has to respect the culture and livelihoods of places we visit. I’ve never visited a place that had absolutely nothing to offer. One can always find something. Sydney and Charlottetown aren’t ‘hubs’ of the tourist industry like Paris or London..but they have their own beauty and personality. I hope you enjoy your visits!

That’s your opinion. ‘Down East’ as the Maritime provinces are called are not wholly money driven. It’s a typical conservative part of the country. In fact, they only just allowed Sunday shopping not that long ago. Their idea of Sunday is for church and family times. Not working on Labour Day is the best way to show appreciation of one’s workers. Not everyone pursues the almighty dollar. It’s a different culture than what you are used to. I doubt if they mourn the loss of tourist dollars on one day.

I’ve done the Highland Village tour. If you like the ‘good old days’ and want to see an old school house, a general store, a horse shoer shop, and other original buildings…its fairly interesting. There are people in the building in period clothes to help with the history and use of the buildings. They are fairly spread out, so you get some exercise too!

I wouldn’t think that getting change for a $100 bill first thing in the morning from a small time vendor would be easy. Keep us posted. Trying asking on your roll call board for a fellow cruiser to bring small bills and some coinage to exchange your large bill on the ship before docking in the port. Maybe guest services can exchange it for you too.

Labour Day is meant as a celebration of the labour force and its accomplishments. If anything, stores, etc. should be closed to give the workers a day off to celebrate their hard work. Arriving at a port on a Sunday is poor planning, if you consider it that, of the cruise line, not the city.

Also, there is part called Open Your Planner where you’ll find how many days until your cruise, a small description of each day of the cruise re: port days and sea days, a check-in page, etc. then there is the heading of Categories for the different types of purchases…spa, drinks, shore excursions, photos, wifi, etc. Hope that helps. 😊

It’s a wise idea. I reserved a hotel room in Copenhagen a few years ago with a ‘pay now’ plan that discounted the price. 3-4 months later I show up at the hotel….sure, they have a room for me but I owe them….they never did take payment off my card. I verified it, but wasn’t planning on that $400-$500 expenditure at that time. Such is a lesson in the details. Now I verify large purchases, and small ones should be checked too.
