  1. With Starlink coming, I can probably work from ships and would love to do this.
  2. They're still having issues with LAX 😞. They got 2 of us flights, out of 6. Then their LAX bookings went down again and they canceled the 2.
  3. It wasn't too bad last time I was on deck 1. However, what sucked was they literally closed most cabins and the floor due to COVID and we were right next to the isolation cabins. That really bothered me. They moved infected passengers down to deck 1 and closed the doors to the aft section.
  4. I didn't even think to ask. She managed to get 2 of 6 of us a $320 flight to Rome from LAX, but she said her system errored out after 2.
  5. Hi all! My sister wants to get married on the ship, but I don't think we can make it happen. It's $1800. There's 8 of us (Sister & fiancé, two kids, mom and dad, me and my partner). I am ordained so could totally perform anything. However, it looks like you cannot book any private events in any small rooms (even as small as the library) on embarkation day. The only option are the wedding packages. My sister is very low income and my dad paid for the cruise for her. Does anyone have any ideas how we can do this cheaper on the ship, or near then Long Beach port? I looked at Mexico but don't think there's enough time to do all the courthouse thing. Legally, as long as we're within 2 miles of California's coast, anything I officiate would be legal. Everyone just wants something simple, no reception, nothing extra. Sister and fiancé are sober, so they don't even want alcohol. We don't need any local officiant, photographer, DJ, etc. On the bright side, this will be my first trip that I haven't been in school for after 28 long years of schooling! (K-12, BA, MA #1, MA #2, and doctorate).
  6. My PVP heard back. Apparently Carnival isn't supporting LAX any longer. I was told I'll need to go to Las Vegas airport. She said she thinks its dumb but reached out for someone to fix it.
  7. I just go to booking order details and pay them. I always prepay it because I don't want a surprise bill at the end. At this point of time I consider the gratuities as part of the fare.
  8. I had a good laugh too! I got an unusual panorama room that has a small window, not really a real oceanview more of an interior. But, not paying to "downgrade" to the COVID floor. The best upgrade I ever got was 10 years ago to Alaska, from an interior. Carnival wanted $80 to upgrade to a balcony.,
  9. Got contacted by the "upgrade fairy" today. Their offer was a worse cabin for double the price it's currently listed on the website. 😂 Currently on Panorama deck 8 ocean view Upgrade offer was deck 1 oceanview... Deck 1 is often turned into the COVID floor still, don't wanna be on deck 1. They also want $500 for the upgrade... I found this amusing. I declined it.
  10. Gratuities increase I have no problem with. The internet, ****. Wow. My internet for my next cruise is going to be $467.5. I hope Carnival can actually improve their internet. They renewed their contract with their current provider. Their rivals moved to Starlink. You can even watch Netflix on some cruise ships now. Carnival has the worst wifi of all the lines imo
  11. My dad's on this one! He's hoping he can see Puerto Vallarta this time. Last time they canceled that stop due to the hurricane.
  12. Has anyone used Fly2Fun? It gives me an error when I attempt to use it "Unable to book flight for your cruise. Please call 1-800-764-7419 for assistance." I'll probably call next week. My next cruise, a 25 day cruise, is 300 days away now.
  13. Fog horn almost the whole day back. Look at this lovely sight the horn woke us up to 😍🤩 we made it to San Francisco. I’ll write a bit more shortly. But this basically concludes my trip! Internet was horrible so I couldn’t do a lot of updates 😭
  14. The miracle has it too! It’s been too cold and windy to use it. But i might try tomorrow if it’s warmer.
  15. I did! Smells like dog 💩 lots of service dogs in this ship. Seen about 8 or so. the first few nights they were painting and it smelled like fresh paint. They closed it partially for a whole. Then it was great for a day. Then today dog 💩
  16. The theater production are fantastic. The floor seats aren’t raised. So be careful of what seat you get. It’s a great theater for the space it is in.
  17. The best place to study is NOT THE LIBRARY! Wow! This ship schedules everything in the library. The JavaBlue is next door with open doors. So it’s hard to focus. Most of the mixers, meetups; game clubs, etc are for the library. There’s only 4 tables for a full ship. the quietest part I found for studying was third floor next to the city view art room.
  18. As of today JavaBlue has some changes 1) milkshakes no longer count for the punch card 2) hot chocolate no longer counts for the lunch card They also stated the punch card they gave me on day one is no longer valid because somebody used a different hole punch on my card. Here’s mine (top) versus my cabin mates.
  19. I wanted to take a moment to recognize the cruise director of this cruise, Georgia. She is something else. I’ve been on several cruises and none really have stood out. Georgia is definitely a character. She is showboaty like most cruise directors. However her personality stands out. Kids run to her and love her. She stops and talks with people throughout the day. On my past cruises most directors just brushed people off and rushed event to event. She doesn’t make you feel rushed. one thing I want to say is her and the entertainment team is excellent. On most cruises the cruise director is the one doing all the events, or always has to be at every event. I see the other entertainment staff handling events that usually have the main cruise director. I don’t know who manages the team, but it’s nice to see newer entertainment members engage with the audience instead of always being the help. They even recognized people behind the scenes which is a first for me.
  20. Icy Strait / Hoonah is beyond gorgeous. I absolutely loved the outdoors vibes, the hikes, and more. Am a bit sad not a single stop we’ve been to had stamps for postcard. I’m gonna mail my stack from back home. we loved it. We did the $200 whale watching tour. It was not worth it. We were seated by a pillar where we could barely see out the window. They oversold it as too many people were a bit on the “larger side” and needed multiple seats. I understand this can’t be helped, but, I had to share my seat with someone else. when the whales came we barely got to see them because all the sides were packed. Basically paid $400 (2 tickets for this, two people) go see the tail of one whale. the internet is still having a lot of issues. It was down for over four hours. I understand it’s a satelitte issue, but, it’s still a bit frustrating. I missed a big part of my IRB review with my professor today. This ain’t gonna reflect we’ll for me. I emailed her saying I can’t control the internet. the weather at icy strait was gorgeous. Highly recommend this stop.
  21. Hey all! It's been hard to post updates. The internet has barely been working (even on the Premium package). I haven't been able to get into my schools websites all day. The weather seems to be taking a turn for the worse.
  22. Today they canceled the Miracle’s port of call to Skagway. Firstly, let me say I’m glad they did this safely and canceled the stop. The seas look a bit rough, and the miracle isn’t the best ship for these seas right now. Safety first always. many are upset about this. Carnival didn’t handle this very well in my opinion. 1) we knew about the rockslide effecting the port the Miracle is assigned to for months. 2) we knew we would have to water tender for months. 3) the prediction was for rough weather for almost 45 days. The weather forecast barely changed since it came out. Our Facebook group for this has over a hundred members. Several reached out to Carnival with weather and rockslide concerns and were assured Carnival is prepared for it or will look into alternative ports. for a while we were going to go to Sitka. Carnival stuck with Skagway. When it got canceled: 1) carnival didn’t tell anyone. 2) guests waited in line almost an hour after the ship turned around and left before they were told it’s canceled. 3) the staff waited 1.5 hours to tell people. the backup plan is a sea day. there’s no alternative ports like Sitka, even Haines would’ve been good, or a longer stop at Hoonah or Juneau. just poor communication from carnival. But, not a surprise to anyone honestly. safety first always of course. But, this could’ve been handled so much better.
  23. As expected, Skagway is canceled. We knew this in our Facebook group for months. Carnival kept saying no no well go. Today they told all excursion guests waiting for tenders they’re canceled. The ship turned around and left. The captain waited 1.5 hours to make an announcement. The winds are too rough to lower the tenders. The rockslide stopped the port from being open to the actual ship. what bothers me the most about this, is this weather prediction was known for a month. The rockslide known for months. They could have possibly found a second port for a day. This is the last trip for the Miracle. The splendor has 2 more. The other lines are in their last week too. There’s other options like Haines, or go back to the capitol and tensor there as the waters are calmer. we passed by Haines and there was only one boat; Holland there. safety first of course. Always. But, my entire group; and many in the ship are basically facepalming. We knew this port was unlikely to happen for months. Carnival could’ve cruised another fjord, another stop, something.
  24. Usually the second day. It’s called the ladies pamper party or fun party. Usually the second day. It’s called the ladies pamper party sometimes or the fun pamper party I attached the planner event below. The only expensive thing is the capsules at $103. They reduced the price of the fire and ice pedicure and manicure down to $93.
