  1. What is the extended menu????

quote=splintz;55638201]i wish the pride had the extended menu like they have on the vista

here is a link to the carnival vista bonsai menu they have on facebook.

i can tell you the noodle bowls are incredible especially the ramen. also the shrimp tempura was great. we went 2 nights in a row. first night had sushi and miso soup. second night i had the ramen bowl and shimp temura.

  2. Used CCL transfers once, never again as we spent too much time waiting for a another flight to arrive before heading to port or waiting for bus to fill up before heading to airport after the cruise. Found it easier to grab ride from either ends.

exactly my same experience once and never again. flew into FLL got luggage at 9:30am. went directly to carnival shuttle check in at 9:40am and checked in for the Glory out of Miami. sat and waited and watched other people line up to get on carnival shuttles for other ships. finally all the people waiting to get on a shuttle for the Glory were told to line up and it was 11:40am. never again what a waste of my time and money. it is much cheaper to just grab an uber.

  3. i went on the vista last January and we had a Havana inside stateroom. we loved it! when you have access to the Havana pool area it is almost like a totally different cruise compared to if you don't have the access. there are plenty of chairs and loungers available at all times even on sea days. there are hardly any people in the pool or the 2 hot tubs during the day. you get to know the other cruisers in the Havana pool area because you see them every day. i also liked the rest of the ship including the thrill theater and the sky ride and the rope course. the only downside of the Havana area is that it was so great we didn't see much of the rest of the ship because we just hung out there all day and relaxed.

  4. I will be on the same cruise. It will be my 6th cruise on the pride. Always take the kids on a spring break cruise. I live in md so I always drive to the port. But I do know they will let drop off’s onto the property long before they open up the parking lots. Not sure exact time to get into terminal probably around 9-10. But you won’t be able to board ship until around noon usually. They do have a platinum check in room with pastries and drinks. As a teacher I hope you don’t expect to get away from kids on this cruise the ship will be overrun by them. Loads of kids on the pride during spring break. The aft serenity area on the pride is great though. It has a hot tub, a pool and a bar but gets crowded and is hard to find a chair. The sports bar is great and we spend a lot of time there. But the sports have always been limited to the few channels they get. Hopefully they still get network channels in the sports bar and casino even though they stopped broadcasting them in the rooms. We will see soon. The pride is a great ship and one of our favorites.

  5. What is the "secret" in booking a Havanna Cabin? How far in advance does one have to book, they seem almost impossible to book.

We are booked on Vista for Southern in March 2018 in a cove balcony which we really enjoy the cove balconies!

when i booked the vista last year there were no Havana rooms available so i booked an interior on lido deck. as the cruise got closer i checked everyday and did a mock booking. about a month before the cruise a couple of Havana rooms came up as available. 1 inside, 2 with the patio's, and 1 aft balcony. i quickly called and took the inside 5214 and at the time it was only $200 more for the booking than what i had previously paid. i switched my reservation without a problem and i was booked under early saver. i loved the Havana area. we got up whenever walked around the corner to the Havana area and never had any problems picking any type of lounger or chair we wanted.

  6. Thank you for all the replies!!

    I'm going to budget $30 + 15% + $2 tip. $36.50 per bucket max

We love getting buckets of beer during the movies. They stay iced down and we don't have to keep searching for a server when we're done with the first.

You do realize the 15% is a $4.50 tip.

  7. Which brand beer is 12 oz?

Corona. Dos Equis. Sierra Nevada pale ale. Probably most of the imports except of course fosters. Also they usually have local craft beers from port you sail from. I forget the one they have in Miami. We sail out of Baltimore a lot and they have Heavy Seas beer like Loose Cannon.

  8. My opinion is, the "discount" in buying a bucket of beer is nil. The winner is the server who sold it to you. (Good for them!)

The discount is basically 50 cents off a beer. So $2 savings on a bucket. Not bad I’ll take anything I can get for a discount. And you can mix beers. We always get 2 beers my wife wants and 2 I want.

  9. How does the access to the Havana Pool work? Do you need to swipe your room key to access?

you exit through the bar. you have to wear the bracelet that will come with the room. there are pool attendants who work the area all week. if they don't see you with the bracelet they will ask to see your sail and sign card which will have a Havana sticker on it. basically they know who is there everyday. and if someone comes in that hasn't been in the area all week and doesn't have a bracelet they will go over and talk to them to see if they should be there.

  10. when we went on the vista we tried all the specialty restaurants. we always go to the steakhouse so that was no surprise it was good. but the one that surprised us the most was JiJi's it was really good. and don't forget you can go to JIJI's and cucina del capitano are open for lunch and are free for lunch. definitely not the same menu but a good alternative for lunch on the ship.

  11. I'm scheduled for the Vista Feb 4th. from Miami and haven't been on a cruise since 2004 when I was a teen and my dad organized and paid for everything. I know ships have changed a lot since then so I have a few questions:

    1) For specialty dinning can everyone pay separately or is the person who made the reservation charged for the entire bill?

    2) I read that for birthdays you get a $50 gift certificate for the spa. Do you get that on your birthday or on your first day? My birthday is on the last day so it would suck to not have enough time to use it.

    3) Did anyone wait until the shore date to buy excursions (Cozumel and Ochos Rios specifically) from the guys selling them on the dock? If so, were they much cheaper than Carnival rates or about the same?

As far as the specialty dining at the end of the meal they will collect your sign and sail cards. Everyone can pay for their own meal or you can tell them to put someone’s meal on your card.

As far as the birthday gift certificate I never cruised during a birthday so not sure.

We didn’t do an excursion in Cozumel. And in ocho Rios we did the bob Marley excursion we bought through carnival.

  12. Are the drink prices and/or menu the same as on the ship? If they don't allow use of Cheers is it safe to assume they don't allow Bottomless Bubbles either?

the drink prices are the same as on the ship except if you buy a bucket of beer you don't get the $2 discount like you do on the ship. also they have to haul all the liquor off the ship in the morning and back on the ship when they leave. so they don't have a full bar menu. they will have a few beer choices to choose from. i drink miller lite and every time i have been to HMC there was no miller lite on the island. usually it is coors light, red stripe, and a few other beers. same with the liquor and wine you will have a few choices and that's it.

  13. the ship will have whatever games are available out of the market the direct TV feed is using. it's a good bet it will be the Miami feed. so you will be limited to the NFL blackout rules for the Miami market. i looked at the dolphins schedule and they have an away game at 1pm on Christmas eve. so because they have an away game they will show the dolphins game on CBS at 1 pm and should show the regional national game on fox which should be an NFC game at 1pm. for that week it looks like CBS has the single schedule and fox has the double header schedule which means there will be 1 4pm game on fox. don't know what team you are trying to catch. but the week of the game(usually around Wednesday the broadcasting map will come out) you can go to a site like nflspinzone.com and look at what color Miami is on the broadcast maps and it will tell you what games will be broadcast in that region.

  14. After 11 Carnival cruises in the last 4 years we finally got a email from the upgrade fairy. We booked a 7 day cruise on the Magic for April 2018. We justed booked a basic interior. Well we got an offer for a deluxe oceanview for a total of $70.00. We love the extra bathroom so pretty excited.

those are great rooms. i have stayed in them on the dream. just want to make sure you know that the extra bathroom does not have a toilet. it has a sink, a small sized bathtub that also has a shower head in it. they are great when everyone is trying to get ready for dinner.
