  1. This is correct according to my experience. However, to the OP, I booked our August cruise last August and the price has steadily increased ever since.

I will be surprised if there are any significant decreases, other than for guaranteed cabins.

I agree with this! We booked our current cruise about 18 months ago and those cabins are either all gone or are priced at 7-800$ more than we paid.

  2. I have done the chef's table with grandkids on the cruise - just sign them up to eat with the Camp Carnival for their evening meal. We were through both times before the 10:00pm cut off for free camp carnival. Just have to go there immediately if the hour is close or have one member of the party leave a touch early. The last thing after the final course service is to receive the photograph and talk with the staff and servers - easy for one of you to slip out if need be.

  3. I have slept on the sofa on the Magic and Breeze in those 4 person cabins - I like it just fine - it is firmer than I prefer but they put a folded very thick comforter as a mattress pad to make it comfy. I was 66 the first time I slept on one and was 69 last summer when I was "the chosen one" again - I have no problems with it. I actually like that I then get to claim the drawers under that sofa as my own for unpacking - I just pull out a drawer and have access to all my "stuff".

  4. That is nice. However I dont feel like the ice would last a long time. I did read that you can bring up to 12 cans of soda and also a small cooler. Would it be smart to get a small cooler and put the cans in there to carry on? (Even if the cooler doesnt quite fit 12 cans, at least I'd have a cooler for the ice to last longer)

Look on line at the fun shops, they have a 6 pack of coke in a cooler that works really well - I have purchased them for myself and family on trips and they don't leak - beats having to carry it on - just take it with you when you leave and you have it for your next cruise.

  5. I had a scooter on carnival and it didn't fit in the cabin. I had no problem leaving it near the elevator area around the corner. The one prob was that carnival has NO real plugs in the halls for charging. They are all those round industrial plugs. I had to get guest services to charge it for me. I went everywhere trying to find a plug! My friend has had one on other cruise lines and they had real plugs. I would think that there must be an adapter you could get to use the carnival plugs.

I have always found regular plugs in the hall near the shops and near the doors in the main foyer - I always find one near a card table so I can play and charge - but I always get a handicapped cabin so it can fit in the room at night - sometimes I am tired at night though and forget to plug it in! Be ware of using the European adapters to utilize the alternative plugs, I ruined a battery one time using one on the Magic the final evening and my son had to push my scooter off the ship!

  6. I took mine for the first time in October. The only problem I had was riding it up the ramps. It had to be pushed. This time (Feb) my husband will push it up. I found that getting on and off the ship I had someone from the ship push it up and down as it would get caught up at the top of the ramp. Also, getting in and out of the cabin was difficult. I would push it in and out. I'm not sure how it will be in Feb. as we are in a different cabin and across from our room there is another room so there is a little more room to get in and out. The last cruise we had the stewards closet was right across from us so we didn't have the extra door space.

This should not happen if the scooter is the appropriate size and fully charged (really important - less charge means less power) for the rider - sometimes we do not realize how much baggage we are carrying in tote bags on the scooter if we are close to the weight limit. I have a Pride Victory and have no problem with the ramps. Sometimes I am carrying on the floor of the scooter all the sodas for our whole group - those can weigh a lot!

  7. I am greatly appreciating all the feedback from everyone. CC people are the absolute best.

I would never expect or allow all of my family members who paid an additional fee to board early with FTTF to wait with me until I am allowed to board. They paid a fee to be allowed to board super early, explore the ship and have access to their cabins immediately. I can merely wait until my assigned boarding time and I will then meet up with everyone later. One of my main concerns was I am traveling by myself this cruise and with having lupus I need additional time and sometimes assistance walking up the ramps to board the ship. My sister has always been my travel assistance buddy so I will be winging this on my own. I am sure she would offer to stay behind with me but I will not allow that. She needs to get on-board and start enjoying her cruise. I am hopeful that Carnival, with whatever proof they require (permanently disabled placard, note from my doctor stating my permanent disability due to lupus, cane/walker, etc....) will allow me to enter the check in terminal early so that at a minimum I can sit and/or board the ship with all of the disabled or special assistance people.

I have sailed on Carnival many times but I have never had to request special boarding due to my disability because I have always had family traveling with me to help assist me. It is very embarrassing having to ask for help so I am hopeful that they will just let me board early so that I can take my time and draw attention to myself. I have sent an email to the Carnival Special Assistance desk to find out what is needed.

Thank you all for your help. Please keep the advise coming as you all are always to helpful to many by answering these questions.

Your best bet is to ask for wheelchair assistance when dropping off your luggage. The porter will arrange for a wheelchair to pick you up - then no one is rushing or shoving you. It is a service they are glad to provide - it is a much safer way to board because unless you wait until after 2 pm, everybody is in a hurry and are pushing their way on to the ship.

  8. We haven't been on this particular ship, but have had my 2 year old grandson in Camp Carnival. He really enjoyed his time there - every session, they had a variety of activities - he loved winning medals for dance contests - also had several craft projects, decorated a T-shirt, had story time with Dr Seuss Characters, we participated in the Dr Seuss breakfast and the afternoon parade and story time.

  9. Just curious, If a person has 10:00 to 10:30 check in time, what time usually does a person get on board? Would it be better to get a later time and not wait as long?

You will have about an hour and half wait from the 10am entry - depends on how long the laggers take to leave the ship and have customs clear for boarding. We have always started boarding in Galveston at 11-11:30, the earlier your check in time, the earlier # zone you get - but boarding goes pretty fast once it starts.

  10. Good morning, Just found out the Triumph will have staggered boarding for our sailing as well. The 11am time slot is available, so do we need FTTF? We have already purchased it, wondering if I should cancel.

    Thoughts?

If you don't think you will need any of the other advantages of FTTF, I would cancel it. We had it for one cabin on a Triumph cruise because we had small children and a lot of stuff to carry on that we wanted cabin access to get rid of, but if you don't have much stuff to schlep around until your cabin is ready at about 1pm, and you don't think you will need the other advantages then save yourself some $$ and cancel FTTF.

  11. I have cruised twice with my grandsons (3, 5, 12) most recently on the Triumph. They all love to cruise - we have done Alaska and the Cozumel route - my oldest grandson loves to play ping pong and could always find a table and another kid (or one of us) to play with him. I also got him a soda card so he could go to any bar and get a coke whenever he wanted. As someone else said, unlimited pizza and ice cream is a plus. the Triumph is a really smooth ride - we did the dolphin encounter in Cozumel and everyone enjoyed it - even the three year old.

  12. My questions were based on the reviews and also some youtube videos I've watched. Having said that, I do not agree with your analogy when you compare it to what they would have make in their country. They are not working in their country so that should not be basis.

If you own a business, would you pay people from poor areas different from you would pay people from the richer areas? would the state they come from determine how much they should get paid?

Have you noticed the difference in salaries in the US from state to state? Cost of living is a greater factor than "wage" - I can live quite cheaply in some states and not so much in others on my teacher retirement salary - couldn't survive in California or New York. So yes, businesses that are national in nature do pay less in areas that have cheaper cost of living than those same companies provide in more expensive areas. Part of their salary is that food and housing is provided for these employees meaning all their salary is profit to be used for themselves and sent home to help out the family.

  13. My grandson who was 12 on our last cruise, always picks out an out of the way bar and makes friends with one or two of the bar tenders who always remember him after the first day - they often give him his drink and one for his younger brother, who is with him sometimes but doesn't drink enough soda to warrant getting him his own package because he is usually in kids club. The first cruise I took him on was at age 9 and he insisted on getting a $10 bill the last cruise evening so he could tip his favorite bar tender - he was pleased to be able to do it and the bar tender acted like it was a $100 bill when thanking my grandson!
