  1. I have booked cruises directly on the website and I now have a PVP whom I have used for my last three cruises, go on the website for some sort of info every few days and have never received a cold call from Carnival. DOn't know why some get calls and others never do.

  2. But is their a free sauna and showers in the men's and women's locker room?

It would appear from the floor plans of the gym/cloud 9 spa that the two locker rooms are indeed for the use of everyone (unlike the Cloud 9 spa on the other Dream class ships - which has separate facilities) which includes locker rooms and a sauna for all to use and thermal suites for only cloud 9 guests.

  3. Do they have a hot tub you can use for free in the spa?

The ships with Cloud 9 Spa have a weekly pass or daily pass to purchase. It includes a hot tub and thermal suite rooms. The gym has locker rooms and showers and I believe a sauna which are available to all guests, but no hot tub.

  4. Which day of the cruise was it? Towards the beginning or end? I may not have my kids bring a stuffed animal (baby) for space if it is available to do at the beginning of the cruise. Thanks again!

On our 4 day, it was late afternoon on day 2, on our longer 7 day cruises it happens 2-3 times throughout the cruise.

  5. I had ordered the kids backpack with a bear through the Funshops but they ran out of them and just credited my on board account for the 25$ for each of the backpacks so we used them to build a bear. They actually chose a dog and a penguin. Two boys aged 2 and 5 and they both loved them and loved the experience. It was about mid-cruise however.

  6. In Galveston, wheelchair assists board right after Faster to the Fun, so unless you need the other benefits of FTTF, it is not necessary for faster boarding. In Galveston, in the area where you pull up to drop off luggage there are benches every 25 feet or so, so after dropping off your luggage there will be a place to sit while the porter sends for wheelchair assistance and all will be smooth sailing after that!

  7. She will debark at the front of the pickup drop off area - just have her text the relative which "Letter" sign she is waiting near and then she can watch for him. WE have had friends wait near the port and give them a call when we are nearing the exit for them to drive into the waiting line at pick up.

  8. Thanks for the clarification. We'll check when we are on board. Some folks give out bum dope on this site but there are more helpful people such as yourself. Thank you again.

The Italian restaurant will be your best bet, table service and delicious food choices if you like pasta!

  9. Thank you all for the information! I know she will love it! Can't wait only 3 more days!!!

The forms that can be filled out in advance or at the time of the registration are available with your forms in My Cruise Manager. We do the forms in advance and have them ready when we go to the orientation with the grandboys - we had two in that age group in March and they both really enjoyed the activities and always had stories to tell, and crafts and medals won for contests - dancing, telling jokes, coloring, games, etc.

  10. You insert your sign and sail card and follow the instructions to set up and account - leave your card in the machine in order to get credit for your play time. You can then insert cash or draw from your sign and sail account. after you play and win hopefully you can put it on the card and go to the cage to cash out that casino account (different now from your sign and sail account as it only has the money you played with on it).

  11. I have the same addictions as your family! I have cruised on the Triumph twice, once with two friends and this last trip with my daughter, her husband and three boys ages 3,6 and 12, my son , his wife and adult daughter, and two friends. It is a great ship to get a start on cruising. The staff is friendly, there is plenty for the kids to do and you, your wife and MIL will love the relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to get a handicapped cabin for your MIL - so she can have a scooter - I travel with one and love the freedom it allows me. We did the dolphin encounter in Cozumel and booked through the ship - they indicated that I could not take my scooter, so I used a wheel chair - when we got to the location to meet the guide, he said that if I had called I could have taken my scooter - so lesson learned. That experience was incredible for all of us - there are steps to climb down and up from the water line but well worth the pain in my knees to do it.

  12. Howdy folks, first time poster here so please forgive me if this is not the place for this.

So I'm taking my mom on a 7 day cruise on the Breeze, out of Galveston on November 13. It a near-whole family cruise: her and my dad, two of my brothers, and a SIL with a couple nephews sprinkled in there.

Here's the problem: My mom has severe rheumatoid arthritis that is pretty debilitating at times. So I'm trying to figure out how best to make this a relaxing experience for her.

If you guys wouldn't mind me posing a couple questions:

    1) How is wheelchair accessibility throughout the ship? She can walk, but a ton of walking will cost her dearly in pain. so I was thinking of purchasing a wheelchair to help get her around the ship. Are there chairs for rent on the ship?

    2) Is the 7 day pass for the Cloud 9 worth it? I am interested in getting her into that salt-water pool. I know there are hot tubs everywhere but the idea of a bit more of a secluded place where she can avoid a ton of people pushing there way around the hot tub would be nice. What else is included that may be of benefit to her arthritis? Is Cloud 9 crowded too?

Honestly, I'm hoping just getting her in the sun and off her feet will allow her to start feeling better. I know I don't have too many more years left with her and I want to spoil her rotten. Hoping to take to to Europe next.

    Any advice is appreciated!

You are basically describing me! I travel with my own scooter and I purchased a wheelchair from Overstock.com for $100 that I take and use on shore excursions where I can't take my scooter. A wheelchair is much more comfortable and easier to push than a transport chair so look into that - I was able to buy one for less than the rental fee for the week and it has now been used by a number of friends for their travels as well.

I discovered the Cloud 9 Spa on my first Carnival cruise and have bought a spa pass or reserved a spa room every chance I have had since then. The pool is wonderful, the stairs are a pain but so worth the effort and the therapy rooms and loungers make my cruise!! Do IT for your mother.

  13. When we went on RC they had I believe 30 something handicap staterooms. One thing I liked about them is that ON their site they actually have a list of accessiable features by ship I REALLY liked that, but I could not find out on the Carnival.

Additionally, because they are cheaper it may be the case that it harder to get a room because there are BOTH fewer rooms and more people wanting them.

I always book at least 6-9 months or more when I want to take a cruise - I work with a PVP and I am not picky about what kind of room I get - I am not a balcony person because I prefer to be out and about on the ship. I have had several ocean view rooms (which on some ships) are listed as interiors or OV with obstructions at the front of the ship. There are more choices of locations with interior and OV but hardly any Carnival balconies that are fully accessible because they were not built to allow wheel chairs to have access out to the balcony and thus cannot be labeled as fully accessible.

  14. I have traveled on several Carnival ships with my scooter and find them very accessible and the staff to be very helpful - I have been able to get everywhere I wanted to go - only in one area on the Triumph did I have to choose to use a different exit door to the outside deck because of a lip on that particular door. Once I knew that, I always went to a door just a short distance down from the first. I always book very early to get a fully accessible cabin. I am ambulatory with a cane but cannot stand for long or walk long distances.

  15. I've had my debit card info hacked twice, both were caught quickly at the bank when it happened and I was never left fighting to get my money back. They instantly put a freeze on the transactions, called me to verify and the whole thing was hassle free. Not sure why everyone thinks you are out the money with a debit card, as long as your debit card carries a Visa or mastercard seal on it you carry credit card type protection. You need to change banks if your bank is giving you a hassle when you have issues with a debit card.

Once I was using my card in one state while someone else was using it across the country with my pin #. How anyone could possible get my pin is beyond me, unless it was in one of the big data hacks that went on at the big stores. I never run it as a debit at a gas station and don't use ATMs to get money so no way someone skimmed it there. It had to come from inside a company terminal/system. While I was buying groceries they were renting construction equipment. Not smart since they had to put their ID and everything on file.

My bank contacted the company they rented at and alerted them to the fraud and took it from there. Returned the money to my account immediately, they took care of the rest. I had a new card the same day. The other time they called and said they saw odd activity, asked if those charges were mine, I said no, they froze them, credited my account and again I went in and picked up a card the same day.

Dh had a charge hit his account that wasn't his and the dispute process was very easy on that too. You all need new banks.

This is exactly how mine works as well. Been with the same credit union for 20 years. The only time mine was hacked someone was trying to buy tires in Alabama when I was getting groceries in Texas - they stopped the transaction in Alabama and gave me a new card as soon as I drove across the street to a branch of the credit union.
