We have the plus package and we are elite.   This cruise is the 14 day Caribbean circle on March 9th.  The only way to book it was a 14 day cruise.   We received $250 OBC when we submitted for our shareholder credit.   That is what made me question two minibars.

After the first 7 days does it return to FLL?  If no then you will get the one set up, if yes its considered 2 segments and then 2 setups.

At least that was my experience on the 20 night Enchanted Princess.

  2. I know you said you’re done but have you tried the chat function?  I’ve had some success with different issues there.

We are in Canada and it’s about 6 days from the time we get the email saying they have been shipped until they are in my mailbox.  And they can be ordered up until 13 days before your cruise.

You’re completed everything in the app, accepted the terms and conditions and entered your CC number and everything but your medallion has a green checkmark?

  3. No way would we use the Princess shuttle.  The Uber will pick you up right at your hotel and take you directly to the ship.

Just looking at the pictures posted above makes me wonder why people subject themselves to that when its so easy to call an Uber and go.

Good advice.  The other person that had problems with this went around and around with loyalty and customer relations for four days.  His PVP finally straightened it out.  I can't find his post.

If the loyalty manager remains confused and refuses to give me elite benefits tomorrow, I'm just going to let it go.  I can't spend four days beating my head against a wall and let it ruin my cruise.  It's not worth it.  I get the feeling that she thinks that I am a travel agent and am trying to pull one over on her. She wasn't exactly the warm friendly type and there was no apology for the hassle.   I'll just put a detailed statement my review so that maybe they can fix the glitch in the system.

When I went to Platinum from Ruby on a B2B guest services gave me a new sticker but maybe that has changed.  I see no logical reason that you would be ineligible even if you were a travel agent.  Do you have your Summary for your next cruise it should tell you on there how it was booked?

And I hate to even put this out there but your cruise is still active?  For a while the casino department was notorious for not paying their portion and people myself included had their cruises cancelled.

I hope that that's all it is.  Guest services will not give me an elite sticker.  They said that loyalty had to do the status change.

This really should not be an issue, people level up all the time on the ships.  Patience is key here I think honestly so just wait until your cruise is completed then see about updating to Elite level.

  6. Log into the website and look at your cruises sailed.  It should show 2 credits for the cruise you are currently on, and 2 for your next cruise if booked separately. It won’t actually update until you complete the one you’re currently on.

Part of the issue could be that your medallion will be active for both cruises so I’d make a trip to guest services tomorrow after you’ve done the in transit portion and ask for a sticker that shows your Elite status.
The system probably just needs time to update.

  7. It was almost a week before I received the second email, just a few questions to answer and I received confirmation it was applied shortly after.

They represent many different companies so I’m guessing that’s why the process has changed.

  8. You scan your medallion when you find a slot you want to play, your login is your month and year of birth.  The machines take cash no problem just remember to cash out when you're finished playing or switching machines.  The money goes into your bank and then wait until your information is gone and the machine resets back to zero before leaving it.

You can go to the cash cage and retrieve your money each time if you wish, but make sure you've collected it before the casino closes on the last night.

Interesting. Yes Medallions to Canada is new territory. I received notice that my Medallions were shipped a couple of days ago (Saturday) and today I have a notice of delivery from UPS for Tuesday. I thought it was spam as I've ordered nothing and the only other thing it could be besides spam would be the Medallion.  But that would be a 4 day turnaround, and not realistic from what I've read on these boards.  Supposedly this "item" is from SAIN Store. I triesd googling it but got nothing. If it's the Medallions, I'll let you all know.

The only notification I received was from Princess, and our medallions arrived a couple days later.  Here in BC I was unable to track them through UPS which is ok since they arrived by Canada Post.

  12. I honestly had to google this as I wasn’t positive which test you were asking about.  Have you thought about taking your own kits and self testing?  My husband has a standing order at the hospital but I’d be looking at alternatives when on an extended cruise.

But if your Dr prefers you test at the medical center it should be available.  Costs vary widely for onboard services but hope someone who has had to do this can answer that.

  13. Does your Mom drink at all?  Specialty coffees, bottled water, juices etc all included in the Plus package as well as the gratuities and wifi.  2 casual dinners also included as well as no extra charge for room service.   Cost breakdowns have been posted many times and 3 drinks puts her at about the break even point.

It can be bought onboard but both must purchase as stated above.  It is well worth it in my opinion to have the option to order whatever I want wherever I want and not have to worry about a huge bill at the end.

Good luck most people just focus on the included drinks and not all the other inclusions.

Flying into LGB, the Golden Sails is still pretty much out of your way.  Another consideration might be staying at one of the hotels near LGB (maybe the Hampton, Homewood or Courtyard, all just north of LGB).  That area is really not all that exciting either, though there are a few places to eat.  You might find a decent hotel price and a free shuttle from LGB  airport...and then just the one 16 mile Uber ride to San Pedro the next morning.

Hampton     $437       all in Canadian $$

    Marriott         593

    Homewood   510

    Courtyard     372

    Westin          576

We're booked at the Westin for December rate is $152  so quite a difference.  Maybe its just too soon but I booked the Westin months ago.

I generally agree with Scott here.

I don't know which cruise line you are on, but, from your signature, it looks like you consistently cruise on Princess of late.  If so, you will be cruising out of San Pedro, not Long Beach.  The only real reason for you to stay in Long Beach is to enjoy the Convention Center area restaurants, shopping and attractions (Queen Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific).  But, Long Beach is a big city, population of half a million, and spans a wide area.  The Golden Sails is nowhere near the tourist area of Long Beach--it's about six miles from Downtown Long Beach and 12 miles from the World Cruise Center in San Pedro--so, traveling from LAX, you'd be going an extra 12 miles in each direction past where you really need to be and getting almost nothing in return.

If Downtown Long Beach has something going on which has driven prices up...and if you don't want to be in the more convenient San Pedro (Crowne Plaza or Doubletree), then best to stay between LAX and San Pedro...and, as Scott noted, Torrance and Redondo are much better choices for you.  Redondo has a nice and scenic little area centered around King Harbor--though it might, soetimes, get a little pricey...and Torrance, specifically the area around the Del Amo Mall, has often very reasonable priced hotels in a very convenient location and near lots of shopping and restaurants.  Either will save you quite a bit over the Golden Sails in terms of transportation costs and travel time...and, dependong on your choices, put you in a nicer hotel.

Just to clarify I am driving across the border and flying into Long Beach.  We have stayed at the Westin previously and love it there but unless their rate drops I can't justify what most hotels are charging for Valentine's Day.  One was over $700 US and our dollar keeps dropping ugh.

Crowne Plaza is starting to look a little better price wise so I will probably double book and watch the rates.  I may even look at using miles to fly Alaska Air into LAX and staying at an airport hotel and Ubering to San Pedro in the morning.

Thank you both for the replies gives me something to consider.

Great review! I know you mentioned the Good Spirits at Sea, were all the drinks there priced at the premier level?  We are on the Grand in April with the plus pkg. so hoping some of the drinks there are included  in the plus.

You'll be fine lots of drinks to choose from included in the Plus, if you do want something over the $15 you only pay the difference and tax on that.

  17. Leaving on Sunday for the Coastal out of San Francisco, this will be my 6th cruise on the Crown since August 2022 and so far 71 days on board.  We are also booked for 16 nights to Hawaii in December.

Love the Crown, the crew, the food, Good Spirits, and all the venues especially Skywalkers are outstanding.  Enjoyed your review and pictures thank you.
