  1. Berumda is stunning. Where we went Horseshoe bay beach it was soft but there were sharp stunning rocks to climb. We went past the busy section and to a small cove type spot that our taxi driver suggested. I wore flip flops and climbed the rocks thankfully my uncle climbed up and traded me shoes since i am uncoordinated. If I were to do it again I would bring my Teava sandals with a sturdy thick sole

  2. Just used Tours Plaza a few weeks ago, could not have asked for a better experience. Just ask for Aldo, he was the best at showing us the island, from stops at a chocolate factory where we actually made our own chocolate to take home, a tequila factory tasting stop, lunch at a beautiful restaurant on the beach and stops and info on the amazing island. We had been to Cozumel twice before but never like this! Tours Plaza charges the same for two people as for four but you will get your money's worth and be safe and enjoy a great day!

Thank you so much. Did the chocolate tour take long? Do you remember the price?

  3. Used them many times for parties of 2 to parties of 6, with ages from 3-90!

Booking is very efficient and easy to find your driver at the port. You will sit down with your driver before you set off, look at a map, and discuss what you want to see. They can make suggestions, or you can have your own route already decided.

Go to their website for further ideas or look for the long running thread on this forum, "hiring a driver for the day".

Thank you. I looked at trip advisor and their website and it looks great. Just when theres only two of us I get a little leery. Everything I have read sounds awesome.

Any particular places that are must sees?

  4. The Mayan ruins of Tulum are very impressive and the beaches there are gorgeous. To get to the beach the ruins overlook requires using a long open stairway, but if you have no mobility issues that's not a problem. The beach draws you to it because of the beauty of the water...

The ruins are definitely worth a visit for folks vacationing along the Riviera Maya or on Coz. For day visitors to Coz it is a full day excursion, so whether it's worth the trek there depends on your time in port and how interested you are. If just mildly interested you may want to just watch YouTube videos and documentaries, but that doesn't do the site justice. A guide also makes a difference, there are usually guides there offering their services, but with a group tour (independent tour or through the ship) you will have a good guide.

Booking through the ship never guarantees that the ship will wait for you, but it is safer in that regard than booking an independent tour.

Thanks. I think we'll probably book through the ship and go see it. Maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity.

  5. The ferry ride on the day we went was bumpy but not too bad. It was worth it to see the ruins at Tulum. Magnificent site and well worth the long ferry ride. Just my opinion.

Can you tell me about Tulum? I am not a big history person but love natural beauty. Do I need to be a history buff to enjoy?

  6. The Tulum ruins are fantastic but I would not recommend that excursion with your child being so young.

My wife and I did it a few years ago, but we enjoy seeing Mayan ruins. We have seen Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Kohunlich, and Lamanai. The ferry ride was bumpy but we enjoyed it.

You might enjoy seeing the slide show my wife made for her website from some of the pictures she took on the Tulum shore excursion. The ferry can be seen in picture 4. We booked our excursion through the cruise line. We were on Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas on that cruise.

A cruise is a great way to spend your time together. Have a wonderful cruise.

Did you do the tulum and beach excursion? If so how long is spent at tulum and how much on the beach?

  7. I bring a waterproof pouch for money and that sort of things. My camera is pretty old so I just tuck it in my coverup and leave it on the beach. I take the memory card in my waterproof pouch. If someone really wants the camera and i loose it I will be bummed but will still have pictures from the trip. But if you have a nice camera invest in a good dry bag.
