  1. Big research topic of ours. Here are my notes:

From the CDC: "Repellents that are applied according to label instructions may be used with sunscreen with no reduction in repellent activity; however, limited data show a one-third decrease in the sun protection factor (SPF) of sunscreens when DEET-containing insect repellents are used after a sunscreen is applied. Products that combine sunscreen and repellent are not recommended, because sunscreen may need to be reapplied more often and in larger amounts than needed for the repellent component to provide protection from biting insects. In general, the recommendation is to use separate products, applying sunscreen first and then applying the repellent. Due to the decrease in SPF when using a DEET-containing insect repellent after applying sunscreen, travelers may need to reapply the sunscreen more frequently."

We always consult EWG when making product purchase decisions. See EWG's 10th Annual Guide to Sunscreens & EWG's Guide to Bug Repellents in the Age of Zika.

For our cruise next week we are taking Coppertone Sport SPF 30 & Sawyer Picaridin Spray.

Thank you this is good info. I of course just ordered more bull frog before reading lol

  2. We were at Reggae Beach (Cockleshell Beach) two years ago and really liked it there as well. There is definitely a lot more beach there and plenty of loungers, which I think were about $5.00 to use. Swimming areas are roped off and have sand bottoms, so you shouldn't have to worry about sea urchins. We wanted to try something different and closer to port this time since we went to the fort in the morning, so that's why we chose Shipwreck. I'd return to either one.

    Thanks!

  3. We were warned about them by our cab driver and at the hostess at the restaurant where we inquired about getting chairs, which I mentioned we free to use. There are two areas, a snorkeling side (on the right) and a swimming side. They were divided by a green marker with a yellow top, which is seen in the 2nd and 3rd pictures I posted. We mainly stayed in the swimming side and had water shoes on but I didn't see any. There were a few others out there, in bare feet, and they didn't seem to have a problem either. To be on the safe side, I'd recommend water shoes. I did snorkel for a bit in the snorkeling side and saw some there but I wasn't wading close to shore in that section.

The urchins make me leery. Maybe i'll try Reggae beach.

  4. If I remember correctly you can't use OBC for the casino.

I think since its your honey moon I would use some of the money for pictures but don't pay for duplicates you can make your own at the so it yourself photo things at walmart ;)

I don't pay for cruise excursions through Royal unless its a far distance to travel and you want the return to ship guarantee

I have $100 OBC and figure I will use it for a cupcake decor class, cans of diet cokes, shopping on board and maybe a picture

  5. Lucy what cruise line will you be on?

On Royal I've noticed they are more lax on dresscode for woman. Dont miss out on the dining room where casual clothes for casual nights, for smart casual anything but denim with heels and formal it always seems to be a wide range of dresses. Worst case where a darker casual dress and accessorize with cheap but dressy shoes and jewelry.

I kid you not on my last cruise on formal night a lady (large busted) wore a wife beater tank stained with no bra and a short denim skirt.

  6. Hi ladies. I am elated to share that I've lost 40 lbs and now don't have a lot that fits!

I know some were saying they have non-formal wear that they don't need. I for one would be happy to receive some gently loved career wear.

I'm currently a size 12 on the bottom but hope to be a 10 soon at this rate :). XL or L on top. I don't foresee my chest shrinking any time soon though. :(

Just throwing it out there if anyone is recycling.

I can recycle what I kept from my plus sized collection too if there is interest.
