  1. Hi Steve,

The policy was purchased at the end of January so this wouldn’t qualify for the look back period, if I am understanding you correctly.

Tomorrow I will comb the policy very carefully to find the above quoted provision and if there is nothing about a refund I think I will call them and inquire. If there is no chance of a premium refund, I will probably file a claim for a medical issue that has arisen. Ugh. I don’t enjoy tussling with insurance companies.
Thank you for your thoughts. I much appreciate it.

  2. You needn’t be apologetic. Cruising is great for people who have some physical limitations and want to have vacations, see the world a bit, eat well, and enjoy ship activities. Cruising is often the only viable option.

Those folks who are so robust and rip-roaring and just can’t stand those slower fellow cruisers? What the heck are they doing on a wussy cruise ship anyway?

  3. Thank you for your response, Papaflamingo.

l know the insurance doesn’t cover anything to do with the virus, either the fear of or the contraction of it. I was just curious if the premium would be refunded if the cruise line cancelled. It doesn’t seem right to me that they would keep 100% of that premium. That premium could be well into the thousands.

I have frequently rolled over premium payments from one cruise to another when I change my mind. Now the FCC is way too risky for us.

I always have purchased insurance two weeks after deposit for the pre-existing coverage. Too much can happen between times! As we all know now. 😢

  4. Yes I believe the March-April cancellations were government mandated.
Since  Canada has closed their ports it seems ethically dicey to wait until the day of sailing to cancel.  The FCC is not an option for those who may be medically at the end of their cruising days.

Thank you for your response. Appreciate it.
