  1. I haven't had this to be the case recently. I was on the Navi (6 times), the Vision b2b, and the Jewel b2b in the last 3 months, and found the food in the main dining room to be quite good. I think I may have not liked my entree twice in 58 days of sailing, and they replaced it with something else.
  2. Agree. Just go in and pay for the first night, and then ask them to call and tell you what nights to show up. I've always thought the first two nights policy was not a good business decision. It could be use it any night between the hours of x and x, or any time where they usually have lighter bookings.
  3. Speaking only for myself, I am very happy I might have found a solution to not coming home sick after a cruise. I was getting very, very tired of it. Every.Single.Cruise. I cruised for 58 days from Feb-May this year, plus went to MI to see family. Lots and lots of people, airplanes, airports, cruise ships, and I didn't get a cold or anything else. Yeah, I want to avoid COVID, too. But, I like that I have a pretty good way to not make myself deliberately sick in other ways now, too. That's why I like wearing masks and using hand sanitizer now.
  4. I met someone on the Vision in March who had COVID twice, and had a COR. But, in order to not second-guess what could/would happen at the pier, he went ahead and got all his vaccination shots and boosters, when eligible. He said it was so he could travel and not worry about being denied. I mean, who wants to argue the fine print and wordsmith the policy at the dock, thus delaying getting on the ship, or worse? I have a friend who gets sick for 3 days after ANY COVID shot: vaccines and boosters. It's like planned illness, but she does it, because the alternative is not satisfactory to her. She has an OCD disabled son, and doesn't want the grief. Rock and hard place.
  5. To obtain cash without a fee, transfer money to your room account from a slot machine. Cash out the ticket at the cashier's cage. If you don't gamble 10% of the room charge, your casino account will be frozen for 24 hours. I rarely gamble except for the free play money on day 1 or 2, so this isn't a hardship for me. I also do this to cash out obc, and then use that cash to give extra tips to the bar staff, room steward, and Concierge. I'm on a more limited budget than the posters above, plus I cruise solo. If the Concierge has done something special for me, $10 - $20 tip, depending on the length of the cruise. I give my room steward and dining staff extra tips, too: $10 - $20 each.
  6. They will want to look at the test results and vaccination card even if the data uploaded to the app during online check-in. It's all good.
  7. I was on the Navi in February, and then again the end of April. In the meantime masks became voluntary, and the Windjammer became self-serve. I knew no masks at the least would bring back respiratory infections. The ones we all used to get before COVID. I went home with an infection almost every cruise for years before COVID. But, the Windjammer self-serve is what really bothered me, because it's such a golden opportunity for Noro and respiratory illnesses, plus COVID. So, what I started doing was to use hand sanitizer again like I was back in 2020. When I sat down to eat, and when I went in my cabin. Like the OP, I wear masks all the time on ships unless I'm distanced from other people, eating, or drinking. I also wouldn't get on an elevator if it had more than 4 people on it already. It's not over until it's over, if ever. Noro will never be over.
  8. This isn't the first time I've read that the COVID quarantining is miserably mishandled. All this does is encourage people not to report their symptoms.
  9. My previous post is for you, also. Heartfelt and good wishes to you while you move on without her. Keep on keeping on. When my husband passed I contacted Special Needs by email, explained my situation, attached his DC, and asked for refunds. Then, I booked when I was ready. If you have over 340 C&A points, you are entitled to the DP340 discount for solos. So, if you change the booking, it might not be much more than you paid for 2 people.
  10. Really, really, really hard isn't it? The love of my life passed in March 2021. I encourage you to sail solo. I deliberately booked cruises this year for Feb (his birthday), and March (my birthday, our anniversary, his death) to be busy and having a good time during the "bad time of year". I knew I would have my books to read, and things to do. What I was surprised about was the amazing people I met. I never intrude on other people's conversations: all the great people I met started talking to me. Dining room at my table for two next to them, Diamond Lounge. I met a group of older Cubans who immigrated to the US from Cuba between 1959 and 1967. Fascinating stories. I met my new Travel Agent. I met people who invited me to go on cruises they already have booked. We have to establish a "new life", a "different life", and embed happy memories of things we did without our love, who is gone. Bit by bit stitch our lives back together with our own experiences. Courage and look forward. Good thoughts for you.
  11. I call my OPS a "hobby"...............................😉
  12. I am probably the only person who remembers the "toga night". We were supplied with an extra flat sheet and asked to wear them to dinner that night. I had to trade sexual favors to get my husband to wear it........................................
  13. Me, too. Just now got off the call. She couldn't find a wine, then found it. They are working with a list, and not the flyer shown above, so the descriptions are different.
  14. Just remember, you might pay your budget back for some of that splurge by food, gas, and utilities savings while you're gone. (I'm a spreadsheet planner myself).
  15. I tried to say this about a ship I was on during late April to mid-May. I was chastised and told it was probably "allergies", and how did I know it could be COVID. All I know is I've been cruising for 49 years, and I know a respiratory infection cough when I hear it. I was on cruises starting in mid-Feb, and it was after the mask mandate was stopped that the coughing started. Before that: crickets. So, maybe not COVID, but definitely something contagious. I think the isolation cabins are so other people sharing the same cabin, as long as they test negative, can come and go on the ship.
  16. Yes, but when you get on the ship you can change it. I suggest using the BOGO's first, then use the 3-night package. But, check for lunches the first 2 days, also, because you can use the 3ND package for lunches, too (I think). Right now the packages are reduced, maybe, sorta, might be just the regular price advertised as a sale. But, if you buy it pre-cruise, then you will able to see if a specialty restaurant is open on embarkation day for lunch.
  17. Only if you want to change the choices. Otherwise, it stays the same until you change it again.
  18. Yes, and you can also buy a 3-night package for after you use your bogos.
  19. OP: the drink package can be used for just about anything you may choose to drink, and those non-alcoholic drinks can add up, too. Plus, it's nice to have more choices for lunch and dinner. Your family income; your choices. Be a sucker: only I wouldn't call it that. I would call it "it's worth it to us to enjoy our every so often cruises".
  20. You, too: enjoy your day, also. I mean that sincerely. Be safe, be careful. No one wants to get sick when they don't have to. I think if RCCL agreed with your opinion about the incubation period, they wouldn't be testing their crew on a regular basis and requiring them to still wear masks. I've been on 3 ships since mid-Feb to mid-May, and seen the change-over from all masks all the time for passengers, to voluntary. But, their crew must wear masks. My conclusion is RCCL still thinks passengers are getting on their ships and bringing the virus with them. I'm a little confused at your misinterpretation of my phrasing, though. I think "likely" and "just as easily" are synonymous with "possible". 'Nuff said.
  21. I wasn't replying to you; it was just the next post. When I reply to someone I quote them, like you did above. I did read the information on both those sites before I posted. It could just as easily be that passengers come on board a cruise ship already incubating the virus. It's a huge guessing game, and that's why most health related sites advise taking precautions when in crowded places. I always use Costco as an example: lots of people with few masks these days.
  22. I just squeaked in to Pinnacle status with 702 points. I found out that if you move a cruise to a different cruise, and you booked during the double point window, the double points follow you to the new cruise. I was on a 10 night Vision cruise in March as a solo, and got 40 points for it. I wonder if they will ever do that promo again?
  23. If you tested positive after an 8 day cruise, it is also likely you picked up the virus before you left for the cruise. It can take up to 14 days to show symptoms. Do you mask at home when you are in crowded places? If not, you could have picked it up before you got on the ship. You can verify this information @healthline and the CDC web site.
  24. If you are stopping in Kotor, be sure to go up high in the ship with a good view for the sail away. It's spectacular. Just a taste:
