  1. I'm not sure where you get your info but I just posted right before you that I just paid $289 for 10 days on Getaway! My sailing is in 34 days.
  2. I was thinking about this for my wife and daughter but maybe I won't mention it now. Lol 😂 Thanks for a terrific live review!
  3. I just paid $289 for 10 days on Getaway.
  4. Not me this time! Lol 😂 I didn't respond to you. I think kalypso confused things.
  5. Thanks for setting me straight, from the other side of the pond. You have enlightened me with your kind and inspiring words, from the other side of the pond. You have convinced me of NCL's shocking demise of quality on all fronts, from the other side of the pond. My sincerest apology for sharing an opinion in your thread, from this side of the pond. Thanks again, Oh Superior One! (I will be trying to convince my wife and daughter to call me this now) PS I thought the hospice care comment was pretty clever. Maybe it doesn't translate to your side of the pond. Cheers!
  6. I have read and heard only outstanding things about Maya Chan! We were booked there for a sailing we were supposed to take in January, 2022 on Joy. Unfortunately that cruise was cancelled and we received a refund from the very friendly folks at Maya Chan. We will try again at some point in the future. Have an awesome day!!
  7. That's my plan in 36 days!
  8. I would have loved that! While the Who was my first concert of a major band, Fleetwood Mac Rumours was the first album that I purchased in 1977. I remember buying Tusk too. Good but bloated album! Lol 😂 I've seen them at least a half dozen times over the years, along with Stevie solo many times. Just recently too! I'm kind of a live music nut. While many on here have been on an incredible amount of cruises, I can confidently say that I've been to more concerts than probably anyone on here. Lol 😂 😂 Sailing Getaway in 36 days and Syd's, with the Rumours show, is something I'm really looking forward to.
  9. My first real concert and favorite band! The Who - September, 1979 @ MSG
  10. We came back from a sailing on Encore, right before this in January. I remember people on the sailing talking about "coronavirus" and it was a bit of a joke onboard. The day we returned to Miami, we went straight to the airport, but had a long wait until 5pm for departure. We immediately noticed some things. People wearing masks and people wrapping their luggage in saran wrap! We kept our distance all day. The day will not be forgotten easily because, also that day, we went and grabbed a bite at one of the airport restaurants and noticed a buzz with everyone looking at their phones and chatting it up. It was the day that Kobe died. I did get a letter 2 days before a sailing on Joy in January of 2022, cancelling our cruise. That was so frustrating as NCL was kind of pressured to shut down for 2 weeks due to an uptick in covid. We would have enjoyed the 40% full sailing.
  11. I've been following this thread since it began and the title gets to me every time. Norwegians shocking demise of quality on all fronts Everyone, of course, is entitled to their own opinions of what quality is or what the demise of quality is but a shocking demise of quality on all fronts. I just think that's a bit over the top and I agree with what you've posted above. There have been cutbacks and changes. These cutbacks and changes could be a detriment to veteran cruisers that would know the difference and it could negatively impact their experience. But "shocking demise of quality on all fronts"? I haven't seen it in my limited experience and I don't believe it to be true. Demise definition: the end of something that was previously considered to be powerful, such as a business, industry, or system It basically means the death of something or someone. Is that what the op and some on here are saying? That NCL is at the hospice care moment in their existence? Lol!! Again, I don't see it and reading a couple of the live reviews that are taking place right now on Bliss and Breakaway, I'm more confident that it's a terrible description. These folks, that are obviously not first time cruisers, are describing an experience on 2 different ships, that should be instilling confidence that NCL is doing their best to bring a great product to the masses at a very screwy time in our world. It's not easy and it's not perfect! These live reviews have been describing good food, good to excellent service and a variety of entertainment. Again, it might not be for everyone so if you don't like the cutbacks and changes, go find something better that suits YOU! I and many, many others still see good value in NCL's product and I will continue to consider them in the future. I sailed Joy last July and, personally, experienced some of the cutbacks and changes. Not as much as some have as the entertainment had not changed yet, but I still saw some of it. I hate to admit it, but I did miss the turn down/2nd cleanup in my cabin. We did overcome it quite easily as we had an excellent steward who made sure we had everything we needed and was super responsive. Other than that, our sailing was really no different than the ones we took on Escape and Encore in 2018 and 2020. The food, service and entertainment quality was virtually the same and was far from the demise on all fronts that the title of this thread alludes to. And, because of that, we're booked to sail Getaway in 37 days and expect to have a wonderful time as we've done on all of our cruises. The cutbacks and changes aren't for everyone but the death of quality is greatly exaggerated, in my opinion. Lastly, if I was new to NCL or new to cruising and came across this thread, it might deter me from even looking into NCL as an option. It's a scary title and I think a bit unfair.
  12. Sorry. It was a joke. Obviously just in my mind. Lol 😂
  13. I do like their ice cream!! Lol 🤣😆😂 Cherry Garcia baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. It's one of my favorite spots on an NCL ship. When we sailed Encore in 2020 with my aunt and uncle, the big round bar was their go to bar, so we always knew where to find them. We loved the bartenders there and there was always something to snack on. Lots of quiet spots along the sides and then it gets a little more lively as you get to the front. Enjoy!!
  15. I've just noticed that Wheel of Fortune has been added to the entertainment for my sailing on Getaway in April. Nothing has been removed.....................yet, so I'm hopeful that MDQ won't be touched before my sailing.
  16. My wife brings some kind of drink mix with her too, but we bring yeti or yeti like cups with us. We have a bucket of ice brought to our cabin every day and load up our cups with ice and water before leaving the cabin. Makes it easy for my wife to throw in her mix whenever and I usually start using my cup to keep my beer cold up on deck later in the day. We used to buy the water too until we realized how good and pure the tap water is.
  17. Based on this post you should definitely cancel the beverage package. Pay as you go. You'll never spend $545 if you adhere to your ordinary drinking habits. Also, I wouldn't pay for the Flow Water either. The tap water is better and can be had in quite a few spots.
  18. I've also done this at least half a dozen times. Probably not when it's the busiest of times but I've gotten bloody Mary's at breakfast time and beer 🍺 around lunchtime. And no matter whether you give them $1 or $10, they remember you the rest of the sailing.
  19. I don't disagree. I'm not a big fan either. But many on here complain about the reduction of shows and entertainment in general, so I wonder what everyone wants. Some on here disparage the musicianship of the individuals, duos and trio's that play music. I have seen many very talented musicians onboard and generally enjoy all the live music onboard. It's like the food has always been. Sometimes poor, sometimes good, sometimes really good. Can't please everyone. And, they fill up the atrium like crazy for most of these things so they are popular. Also, you're currently on Bliss so you have the observation lounge for a quiet and relaxing venue. Not to mention a great bar. Once again, enjoy your cruise 🚢
  20. So what entertainment would be better in the atrium? Or would you prefer no atrium activities? Just wondering since you're currently onboard. TIA
  21. Believe me, I know that I rule! But, I'm a guy! Lol 😂😆😂
