  1. There is hope as it has been reported that China is trying to pressure Iran into calling off the Houthis. China is probably the most affected by ships sailing via the Cape instead of through the Suez. a\Already seeing huge increases sending containers to Europe. On top of that China buys 90% of Iran's oil so they have a bit of clout. "Basically, China says: 'If our interests are harmed in any way, it will impact our business with Tehran. So tell the Houthis to show restraint'," said one Iranian official briefed on the talks, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/china-presses-iran-rein-houthi-attacks-red-sea-sources-say-2024-01-26/
  2. The first Moon cruise showing on the Australian site is Singapore to Hong Kong but it is waitlist only. I think the Cochin cruise is a backup but backup for what. Could it be they anticipate cancellations on the Mumbai cruise -note Australians can force a full refund under our consumer laws but it would take some time. But is it a back up in case the Moon can't make it to Mumbai on time. In which case a lot more cancellations would probably occur as they officially cancelled the Mumbai cruise.
  3. Actually the hotel is about a 5 -10 minute deviation from our direct route to the restaurant at most so we are more than happy to pick you up at the hotel. Unfortunately I don't have a chauffeur's hat so I hope you don't mind.
  4. We will pick you up at your hotel. Is it still the BW North Lakes? From there just 20 minutes to Bee Gees Way and 10 minutes to the restaurant. The boyhood home of the Bee Gees would be a drive past and is only a 100 metre deviation from the direct drive. So pick up at 6.30 if you want a half hour at the Alley but we would be happy with 6pm for an hours visit or a bit longer drive.
  5. Booked for 3 at 7.30pm. Upper deck of course.
  6. As I said Silversea decreased the price of our Singapore Mumbai 2025 cruise for new (and old) when they shortened it by 2 days and we got an extra 15% off if we didn't cancel. Though they wouldn't put us up at a hotel. But the discount worth far more than the hotel stays.
  7. Agree. Which is why we book our own air. Quite often using points.
  8. Well that settles it. not a fancy place but gets good reviews and is in Scarborough. https://www.scarboroughharbourbc.com.au/ They have bookings available on Saturday from 4pm until 7.30pm. So decision one is how early you would like to eat. But there is another thing to consider a little further on in this post. We can visit one of their boyhood homes on the way to the restaurant. https://www.mustdobrisbane.com/visitor-info-arts-culture-history/bee-gees-house-scarborough But the second decision will impact on the first decision. Would you like to visit Bee Gee alley before dinner or after dinner when there is a sound and light show. We might have to miss lunch! https://www.mustdobrisbane.com/features/bee-gees-way-redcliffe
  9. Just looked at the Trident hotel. Unsurprisingly it is booked out on the 12th-15th Feb. Yes already booked out on 14/2. however from 15-18/2 prices are $US272 basic room and $US363 for a club room. And booking a whole lot of rooms SS would have got them cheaper than that. Seems a lot less than what was paid for the 3 missed nights on the Moon.
  10. Well DW we are now at home. happy to drive down to old brisbane town on Saturday night. Findit hard to find a half decent restaurant near North lakes so am making a few enquiries with the locals. if you have any preferences let us know. My hotmail account is dr_ronnie.
  11. Interesting that for our shortened cruise in May 2025 and delayed onward cruise they would not put us up in any hotel but gave us OBC on our second cruise reduced the price by the 2 day per diem amount plus an extra 15% off. The funny thing is that putting us up in a hotel would have cost SS less than that amount. As well we cancelled the second segment. I wonder why they didn’t give the option of reducing the price of the cruise. Obviously I presume because it could cost more to do that.
  12. You really should try Japan Airlines in First Class. We did 3 weeks ago and the champagne was Salon 2013.You could have tried Dom as well but I stuck with the Salon.
  13. BA. But the cheese plate was good. Certainly better than Silversea.
  14. But then very tough lamb. And Rojaan’s potatoes were black in the middle.
  15. Then came the canapés. Hainan chicken, grilled scallop.and Tandoori cauliflower. Actually quite nice. Then a nice Tom Yum soup. Served Silversea style with solids in the bowl and fluids poured over.
  16. Coming to you from 38000 feet on our way back to Sydney. Couldn’t help myself and started off with a Red Snapper. A Bloody Mary for gin drinkers. Not bad at all.
  17. Well if you are you would be an anaethetist who posted on AFF.
