Thanks for review. We are considering Divina and YC. I was curious about the pool in YC - how big is it? Was it crowded? We would be traveling with a 5 y/o, just eying to see if it would be fine for him, or if we would need to go out to main pool area.

Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app

Here's a few of pics from the Pool in the Yacht Club

  2. I put my information on MSC's websight with terms that I will listen to a representative if there were good deals when I want to cruise. I keep getting calls from people who speak very little English. If I can't understand these reps, I will not talk to them. It seems they are outsourcing to India or Pakistan.

They definitely aren't from here, so I guess I won't be sailing on MSC.

I just have them send me a newsletter containing all of that information. I don't need a translator to read them. :D

  3. omg!!! I had plans in November to make this my last stop. Good Lord! And we have 5 ships in port that day. Oh well. I can always watch you tube to see the planes land :)

Jean,,try contacting the Sunset Beach Bar and or a traveler who might be going there closer to your sailing date. The beach may have returned by the time you sail in November. I was told that they do not dredge to replace the sand,,they let mother nature do it for them so you might get lucky.

  4. I will definitely have a great long weekend, in fact a great long 2 weeks in the (hopefully) lovely yacht club. I say hopefully as I've never sailed in the yatch club or MSC for that matter. You all make is sound so great, that I can't wait.

    I know we'll have a ball ;);)

JPR61,,,The experience is everything everyone says it is and then some. Loved waking up in the morning and having our local newspaper hanging on the door handle in a little Yacht Club bag,,having our mini bar restocked,,2,,3,sometimes 4 times a day with our requested beverages. I wasn't allowed to bring my own Caffe Mochiatto to my stateroom,,a butler was waiting to carry it for me. Even after you disembark the ship,,all Yacht Club luggage is pulled off the baggage belts and set aside for you in a special area, and a porter is there to help you get through customs with it. These small details are why we love the Yacht Club so much,,besides the incredible food and service of course!!:D

We are also booked for the TA next Oct as well in YC ,did have a TA booked on the Vision ,but the dates work out better for our yearly trip back to the UK

We are looking at flying to Milan for 3 nights ,then taking the train to Genoa

Hope to see you on board for a drink or 2

Thanks for posting all the pictures and detail of your cruise

    Regards

    Paul & Dawn

That's awesome FL LION,,,I'm going to have to start a roll call for this sailing it seems. We met a guy who lives here in Florida who booked this same cruise while onboard last week. So glad we became friends,,,now I'll have someone to play Extreme Texas Hold Em' with!!!

While you're onboard,,make sure to purchase a future cruise voucher for $10.00. If you plan on sailing in the Yacht Club for this trip,,you'll receive a $400.00 on board credit,,only available for a YC1 category though, which is ok, because that was all that was available when we booked.:D

  6. Mike

We sail also next sat ,and are staying in YC ,can you please tell me where the muster took place for YC guests?

    Regards

    Paul & Dawn

Sure FL LION,,,Our stateroom was on deck 16. Our muster group was "D". Where we gathered for muster was at "La Luna" which is located forward on deck 7. Make sure everyone brings their life jacket and room key,,everyone's room key is scanned as you enter your muster station. I would suggest trying to beat the muster signal that is broadcast over the speakers. The lines going down the stairs are very long.

  7. So the beach will return in months, I could be dead by then. LOL I'm glad we're on a tour this time and we'll only spend maybe an hour at Maho. I've been there many times with the undertow and the 2-3 foot drop getting into that water, it's not fun but I'm used to the Jersey shore being rough and with the undertow.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and be optimistic for September. We'll be back again in November so hopefully the beach will be back to normal by then.

Thank you for the update and that picture of the not so beach.

No problems Love,,I do have one more pic of the beach a little further down. We just returned home yesterday, so I'm trying to get everything loaded up to Photobucket now,,I'll post it here in this thread once it's done..

  8. Yes you can for a fee. Somewhere in this thread the cost is mentioned. I think it is $100/pp/pd that would include all YC venues including the restaurant. They are very strict about YC guests bringing non YC into the areas, but this does make it possible.

I have you covered Cruiser!!! To answer that question,,yes you can. You would pay the $100.00 for the day which will entitle your guest to all the benefits of a Yacht Club member including access to the Top Sail Lounge, the spa, The One Pool and Bar, unlimited drinks, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner at LeMuse.

You can have dinner with non Yacht Club members anytime without purchasing the day pass for a $50.00 fee per person.

  9. Wow, I know the beach comes and goes with different sea conditions and have seen the beach small and have seen it big but never as small as your picture. I'm hoping to have somewhat of a beach when we go there in a few weeks.

Do you have anymore pictures of the beach you can post? Wondering if the beach gets wider a little further down. Did you go in the water, was it rough?

Life,,,That's about all you're going to have. The beach does get a bit wider but not enough to lay out a towel. There's just to many rocks protruding everywhere. The water was a bit rough and there is some undertow, so if you do venture into the water,,you'll need to be a strong swimmer. We saw maybe 3 people in the water during the 6 hours we were there. We were told by our driver that the beach will usually return in a few more months. We were thinking about heading over to Orient Beach,, but then were told that it was littered with seaweed,,,not a good beach day for us at all,, but hey,,the Carib Beer was cold and we were able to see KLM land and takeoff so all wasn't lost!!!:D

  10. Will also be on the divina next Saturday - can't wait. We're in cabin 15029, one or the sqarer cabins in the YC I think

Bon Voyage JPR61,,,I want to hear all about your Yacht Club experience when you get back!!! I think you'll come back with the same conclusion as we did. Once you sail in the Yacht Club,,you'll never sail anywhere else on the ship!!! It will take just a one minute walk through the buffet area on deck 14 to come to this conclusion.

I took this pic just in front of the door to your stateroom,,,sorry the quality isn't so good,,I haven't figured out why my GoPro shoots such lousy indoor pictures,,everything outside looks good though:confused::confused:

  11. Thanks Mike for the pictures.

I have plenty more Riclop. I'm waiting for photo bucket to upload them all. I think I snapped close to 3,000 pics with my Canon, and close to 750 with my GoPro along with 20 or so videos. I did a walking tour with my GoPro of the One Pool area which will give you all a better idea of the space,,it may be a bit jerky because of the walking motion, the gimble I had ordered for my GoPro didn't show up in time,,so mad about that,,or else the video would have been smother,,hopefully Youtube can correct it for me.

  12. We just returned from our trip aboard MSC Divina and reserved a large cabana on GSC. When we reserved our cabana there were only two of us on the reservation. Once we boarded the ship, we immediately went to our concierge and had requested cabana #1. The night before we were due to arrive at GSC, we were pleasantly surprised to have received cabana #1. Once we arrived on the island, we were told to pick up our tickets for the cabana at the information hut. Our reservation was only for two people, but along the way we had added our cousins and nephew, along with a family of 4 from Manchester England we had met on the ship. Our group went from 2 to now 9 and the folks in the hut never blinked an eye and handed us 9 wrist bands.

Since this was our first time to GSC, we didn't know what to expect. Having the cabana with the refrigerator, hammock, floaties, and most of all, the privacy away from the masses on the beach,,really made this stop very enjoyable for all of us!!

I'd like to thank those of you in this thread and the others I have read for recommending cabana #1,,,we're definitely reserving this one again for our sailing back there in April!!!

  13. Pluca,,,you had asked me about the dress code in LeMuse for normal and gala nights in my Live Review. On non gala nights, the dress code ranged from suits, to button down shirts and pants for men,,and for the women,,skirts and long dresses.

Formal or Gala Nights, Tuxedos and suits for the men,,ball gowns and dresses for the women.

We never seen anyone dressed in shorts for dinner and I'm not sure they would even allow them into the restaurant.

Breakfast and Lunch are much more casual, shorts, t-shirts, etc. are all acceptable,,just no swim suits, unless you wear a cover up. Hope this helps Pluca!! :D

  14. We were on the MSC 3 weeks and loved it. One thing we never were able to find was the infinity pool. Is it on a private deck? We went as far aft as we could go and the elevator only went to deck 15. We saw a pool there but it was being evacuated because a child had defecated in it. Was that the pool? Is the garden pool the same as the infinity pool? How do you get to the water slide and what does it land in, a pool?

Loved your review. You write in the style of "Celebrat" a cruiser we met on the MSC Orchestra about 5 years ago from Celebration Fl.

    Marsha:D

The "Infinity Pool" is actually the "Garden Pool" Deck 15 Aft. They don't fill the pool to create the infinity edge effect because the water tends to leak down onto the balconies of the cabins below. The water slide entrance is also on deck 15 starboard side between the Garden Pool and the entrance to Garffiti's teen club. The water slide ends in a trough of water at the end of the slide, no pool.

  15. Ok, I'm pulling out my biggest suitcase right now!

I have to say I'm a very easy going sprain and have very low expectations as to how to enjoy a cruise .. I've never had a bad cruise and I sail low budget carnival cruises most of the time, so.. I know I'll enjoy it!!

As for the pool crowds and rude people, I just ignore it all and have a good time!!

Good for you!!! Claim your own little piece of the ship and enjoy it!! If you want to get away from everyone, try deck 16 just behind the large television screen. They have loungers there and it seemed to be less crowded than around the Aqua Park on deck 14 and 15 and the Garden Pool area. If you want to avoid the crowds at the breakfast time buffet, show up early,,our cousins brought our nephew there around 7:00am and she told us it was a ghost town at that hour.

Enjoy the shows as well,,they are fantastic!!! Beware of the Starwalker show though,,there will be 4 guys with red noses on following you down the stairs, imitating your every move. I got caught and I knew about this before but was running late, but it was all in good fun, the video of it is even funnier!!!

  16. Thanks for your great live review!! It looks like you had a wonderful time .

Next Saturday I will be sailing away on her sadly but I won't be on the yacht club. I'm sure it will be a great cruise even without the yacht club!

We had a great time Dog,,,we met some fantastic people, made some new friends, and shed some tears along the way. You'll have a great time no matter where you stay on the ship however. The pool decks can become crowded during the day, the buffet lines can become hectic,,and some people can be downright rude, but if you can take all of this in stride,,,you'll have a great time just as we did. Enjoy your cruise Dog, and bring an extra large suitcase so you can smuggle us back onboard!!!:D:D

  17. If the cruise lines want to truly get ahead of these viruses then they will place crew members outside each bathroom as well and spray the hands of each pax as they exit. Esp the children. Sorry. Don't want to get Gambees review off track. :)

As we walked from the Black and White Lounge to the Pantheon Theatre, there was a bathroom attendant at each public restroom area we passed. We counted 7 during our walk, and this was just on the starboard side of the ship. I can tell you that the restroom on deck 15 aft which is located just outside the entrance to Le'Muse was constantly being cleaned as well. My girlfriend had to wait 3 separate times to use the bathroom while it was being cleaned.
