  1. LOL....you said it was a soap floor....so I was imagining a weirdo place to wash your feet....just my imagination.

I fall, slip and stub my toes too often....

Can you tell us specifically where this is...so I can avoid it....

    Thanks

MsTabby,,there is an area on deck 14 near the Le' Serene pool where the surface can be a bit slippery. It seems to be some sort of a synthetic tile rather than the pool deck material. I was able to simulate cross country skiing on it in sneakers so it is quite slippery. This is definitely an area that needs to be addressed when Divina goes into dry dock.

  2. Mike any pictures of the yacht club room and areas.

    I'm glad you asked Riclop:

I'll take you on a guided tour of the Yacht Club "One Pool" and "One Bar" Areas First:

There are 4 entrances to the Yacht Club "One Pool" Area on deck 18. The first is the entrance port side forward. There are two ways to get to this door. There is an elevator which is located on deck 15 and 16 port side, just across from staterooms 15013 and 16019. There is also a staircase which will take you to this entrance which is located near stateroom 16027.

  3. Hmmmm, dare I say, Americans who expect food on a European line catering for Europeans to match their idea of what the basics are, should perhaps cruise with a line that caters for Americans? I'd bet your idea of the basics and mine would be vastly different. Neither of us are right and neither of us are wrong, we are from different countries with different customs and tastes.

I'm from the UK, traditions here are different from those in Spain and Italy. Heck you get very many regional variations of Italian food. I get almost nothing that I'm used to at home on MSC and for me that is a positive and the fun of going overseas. However if you want spicy, you will need to bring something with you to add to the food. Italians don't really go for spicy. I personally love the pastas and risottos (far too much actually as I pile on the pounds each cruise!). Don't like the buffets but I don't like buffets at all, any where. I like slow food and leisurely service. If I have to go then I like the sale bar and ethnic corners.

Divina in the Use is an exception. A significant percentage of passengers are North American so they should be (and from what I've read they are) making adjustments for the Use tastes. A TA on the Divina will be a different kettle of fish perhaps, regardless of whether it is sailing to or from Europe.

Mondo,,on our sailing this past week aboard Divina, the mix was 60% International and 40% American. There was a large contingency of Asian pax onboard as well. I was told,,by an unnamed source, that Divina Is here in the states to provide the European pax with another Caribbean option. She is not here to compete with the American Cruise Lines. I have also learned that when Divina goes into dry dock, carpets, as well as some other wearable items will be replaced, and that there will be little changes made to the dining venues.

  4. That may be true, but the facts are the Divina, and MSC are the only major cruise line sailing out of the US that hasn't had an outbreak of disease (noroviruses, etc), or had any violent crimes reported!(rapes, assaults, etc.)

Just my opinion, but maybe if the other cruise lines did such a good job of 'continuous' cleaning like you see on the Divina, instead of just cleaning for an inspection, they wouldn't have repetitive outbreaks of disease!

Exactly American!!! Divina under went a USBH inspection while we were in port in San Juan on Wednesday. Divina scored a 96 out of a possible 100!!! Every crew member does a deep cleaning of everything each night before arriving to an American port because they never know when there might be a surprise inspection. To add to this,,,there are hand sanitizers in front of every dining venue, as well as a crew member squirting some on the hands of every passenger returning back to the boat from a shore excursion.

  5. Boarded the Divina this morning @ 11:45. Very smooth embarkation! :DThey would not allow us to have lunch in the Villa Rosa , something about a private party for travel agents! The buffet was okay & overall it was enjoyable. Went to customer service to inquire as to the possibility of an upgraded cabin to be closer to our friends that we invited along & were told three different stories! The last person told us to come back after 7pm. We have a balcony cabin with an obstructed view. Our daughter came with us, so three of us to a cabin. The sofa pulls out into what appears to be a queen size bed, when open, it will block access to the balcony. There is not as much closet space as what we are used to on Princess, it's going to be a tight fit with the 3 of us putting clothes away. Our cabin adjoins w/another one & we can hear the neighbors thru the adjoining door. Looking forward to a great week, not going to let the little nicknoids get to us. Here to relax & enjoy. :D

JBmom,,,hope everything works out for you!!! I will agree that there is very little storage, even in a YC3. I had 2 out of the 6 drawers,,my girlfriend had the rest,,so I had to put some of my clothes in the night stands and in the cabinet under the tv in the living room. We managed quite well,,,but we are in a YC1 for 19 days in October 2015, and not sure how we will deal with less storage areas,,

  6. Well folks,,,we are finally home after another fantastic MSC Divina experience. Saying goodbye to our butler Johnny turned out to be an extremely emotional time for my girlfriend Kim and myself. We have become very good friends and the thought of the possibility of not seeing him again really hit home once we made it to the gangway to disembark. Johnny assured us that he will try and do his very best to be reassigned to Divina in December when he returns but unfortunately, he doesn't have the final say. He did give both Kim and myself a very nice gift to bring home with us though:(:(

  8. I like a rusty nail, drambuie and whisky- perfect nightcap. First tried it on my last MSC cruise. Allegrissimo is a great way to try all the drinks.

Mike I have to thank you for giving us all this information especially that the MDR is open for lunch on boarding day. The week went by so quickly though.I board next Saturday.

Would love to sail with you one day also with Maureen the Nutella Queen. :D

We would love that!!!! We have 4 sailings booked "so far",,,,so funny,, I was playing Extreme Texas hold 'em next to a guy I met in the yacht club and he booked a cabin next to us for the genoa to Miami repo in October 2015,,,definitely buy a 10.00 voucher for obc,,you can apply it to any early booking category other than a yc2 or yc3

  9. Good evening Mike,

I would just like to send a big thankyou for taking the time during your vacation to provide some very valuable info to us all.

It seems this week as gone by so quickly, but brings me ever closer to my turn:)

    Enjoy your final evening:)

    ANNE

Thank You Nevergrumpy!!! We have made some fantastic friendships this week, and it will be hard to say goodbye to some of the crew that we have became friends with over the past couple of cruises!! Our butler Johnny will be heading back to Madagascar in September and he isn't sure if he will be back onboard Divina,,,we love him dearly and hope this won't be the last time we see him!!!:(:(

  10. Hi Mike,

This should be an easy one.... on various MSC threads I see conflicting info regarding whether or not ice water is provided in the MDR's. A few say that only the USA departures DO give you free water, while others just say MSC doesn't give free water anywhere except the buffet and that only bottled water is available for purchase. So were you given plain ice water at dinner?

    thanks again

Moon,,we are in the Yacht club and have our dinners at the LeMuse restaurant. We have a choice of either sparkling or regular water before dinner. I'll stop by this evening and see if I can get that answer for you though.:D

  11. Can you please have a look and see if there are rowing machines in the gym. Many thanks

Aza,,I didn't see an actual rowing machine, but they do have two areas in the gym with workout machines(weight training). All of the treadmills as well as the elliptical machines have television, Facebook, youtube, twitter,,etc. built into them. Here is a link to the manufacturer of the equipment used in the gym:

  12. Seriously? That's a bit off :/

When I did the tour on the Preziosa we were told we could take photos on the tour in all areas EXCEPT the Yacht Club - and it was reiterated before we went in - as it would be a breach of guests privacy.

Ahhhhhhh,,you are probably correct Kat!!! We were at the One Bar having breakfast and noticed a group of about 10 people taking pictures of everything!! Never even gave it a thought about the kitchen, crew, laundry areas. You managed to get some pics though right Kat???

  13. Nutella is available for purchase at la Carmella the candy store by the black crab dining room.

    Send from Danny

Yes you are correct, and I apologize for not seeing the tiny jars of Nutella wedged between all of the M&M's, Pringles,,Oreos,,etc......The store isn't open yet so I will get a jar size and inquire about larger sizes as well for you all.

  14. Glad to hear you're having a great time! Has there been any info on the water slide--height/age requirements? I'm just trying to prepare in case DD (speed/thrill seeker) doesn't meet any requirements (so we can let her know in advance & steer clear onboard).

flhokie,,,there is no height requirement but the minimum age to ride the waterside is 9. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver for those individuals between the age of 9-17. You'll need to register and then you'll receive a wrist band which must be worn to ride the waterside.:D

  15. JimW

I'm not quite clear on the situation you described in Falmouth...They don't have you put your stuff through the x-ray scanners when you re-board the ship? Were you just carrying the bag with the bottle? Inquiring minds want to know, LOL!

    thanks

All of our bags have been x-rayed each and every time we've come back from port. If they find something they think that might be alcohol,, security will send you to another table where they'll ask you to open your bag for them.

  16. I am leaving next Saturday for our awesome cruise!!! But I did see on here someone mention a behind the scenes tour. Is there one on the divina and how much does it cost? Oh, and can you take pictures on the tour???

They did this tour today as we were having breakfast up in the Yacht Club Dogchopper. Lot's of people taking pictures!!! I believe the price is $94.00, but I'd have to find the advertisement in my stack of papers I'm bringing home.
