  1. Boarded Seaside YC today 24Nov.

Had a talk with the Director of YC.

Upcharge for food  in YC dinning room was only for the Thanksgiving cruise. No upcharge on this cruise.   Going forward who knows.

Old Deluxe package is honored including gelato and Venchi chocolate martinis. However have not tested that yet. Sorry didn’t ask about crepes.

Future bookings will be Premium with the mini bar included for YC only. No gelato for YC on future booking with Premium.

YC lost the zipline being included. It was never officially listed as being included but it was.

So going forward on future YC bookings it is a loss of gelato and zipline.

MSC has answered my mail now.

The answer was that no package, old or new, is included in the YC because it's a completely different concept. Premium Plus is the most similar package to what's included, they said.

I don't really know what that means! What's included? No idea!

    Thanks for posting.

This was my guess that it would be a hybrid. They didn't want to tie the YC to a drink package so it gives them more flexibility.

This could be a good or bad for us but I think it will be good.

  4. Are there any reports of passengers currently on the Seaside in YC with regards to the drink package?  Such as is the Deluxe drink package still in effect with no changesgelato, etc included?  Is the Premium Plus package only a product of the future in YC?

Totally agree we like the Divina much more.

Consensus, Divina YC is nicer but let me ask about YC cabin size only.  Divina YC cabins look narrower and thus smaller (including balcony) than Seaside YC cabins on the video cabin tours. So does the nod on cabins go to the Seaside?  We have only done Seaside YC.

IMPORTANT: ONLY THOSE WHO HAD THEIR GLOBAL ENTRY CARDS WITH THEM WERE ALLOWED TO BYPASS EVERYONE.

It is the Princess port employees  that are responsible for checking GE cards.  They have no kiosks so they use the GE cards (which normally never get  used ) to verify that you can use the GE line. In our experience the Custom and BP agents never ask to see the GE cards.

We routinely catch 8;00 Delta flights, earliest 7:45.  If you can be at the tip of the spear head (first 10 people off) that really helps with the ultra early flights.

Of course we have back up plans if were delayed.  Also I would not recommend 8:00 flights for others, to risky but just reporting our personal experience.

  7. It's the wild wild west and it won't settle down until we get a constant stream of reports from YC passengers on or just off the ship.

Mixed feelings if we lose the gelato as I enjoyed the cocount but having high end choices would be nice.

I think people are allowing themselves to be blinded by the prices instead of checking out what the old packages included.

In the US the old packages on MSC website still do include old drink price limits so I don't think we were blinded at all.

I appreciate Bretts report that the new drink prices will not have an affect on the old packages. Next I wish MSC would say so.

Ate ... You are letting the £,$ signs blur your vision, it does not matter what the prices are if you have the previous packages, if as they say MSC honour the actual package as it was.

Sidari.... You may be correct but there is a difference between honoring the old package and honoring the old drink prices vs using the old package with the new drink prices.  I have not seen it reported that MSC will honor the old drink prices.

  10. As reported on another thread, the YC gets the Premium Plus package.  Its on the US MSC website.

Not sure if the Top Sail lounge will ask for cards when ordering to determine between old Deluxe or Premium Plus.

Seems on all cruise ships, the cruise ship workers are often LAST to be told of package and policy changes...however it certainly doesn't hurt to ask.

Maybe so, but my experience is upper level management on the ship have a heads up.  Besides I'm interested with whats happening today.

We will be on the Regal in M108 next month. Do you recall if the bedroom area had a power outlet? Assuming they are twin ships. Thank you!

There is a European outlet under the bed on the far side.

We have spent 100 days or more in M108/107including a TA.  We really like the cabin but also can relate to the criticisms.

It is true that at sea many times the balcony can be almost unusable because of the wind. However once in awhile you will find no wind on the balcony, thats when they ship has a tail wind. In the caribbean thats usually on the way back to home port.

Also the metal below the railings does restrict your ideal views sometimes when setting.  We bring 7" risers for the chairs.

We really enjoy the balcony when coming into and out of port. Its nice to have a 270 degree view from the balcony. The two room cabin layout works well for us.

If bigger is better then M107 has a bigger balcony.  M107 has some deck space to the right of the sliding glass door that M108 does not have. It's maybe 3' by 6' and is not normally used but it does create a nice buffer from the next door neighbor.

That person who has not had an issue with Venchi drinks I have sailed with before and I will take her word that when she asked in the YC there has not been any changes. Others that are presently on the ship are checking as well.

Do we have anybody else on the ships currently to confirm that there are no changes for drinks in the YC, chocolate martinis etc.

  14. We are going to use the cancel anytime clause of the Princess platinum insurance for an upcoming cruise. How long does it take to get the credits and can you use them on a pre existing booking before final payment.

Its always nice to know what to expect before making the calls,

    Thanks

  15. A very nice review and in our book spot on.

A couple of tidbits for first timers in the YC. We did not choose to wear our wrist bands and carried our cards instead. To keep power to the room for charging etc you can use any RFID card in the slot to keep power on.  There is an indicator light out side the door of the cabin that stays lit when power is on in the room.

Your cabin card does have your cabin number on it in code.  Add the first two numbers together and then reverse the last three to come up with your cabin number.

    Thank you for your review.

  16. Thanks, too bad I didn't know that sooner - just threw out a RIFD hotel key. Oh Well!

Still need to know where Bella passengers can purchase the wristbands????????

Depending Ii think on your room steward but they can give you a MSC generic RFID card to put into the slot. Ours did, were on the Seaside now. We did try the RFID hotel card and it also did work.

  17. Thanks, Glad to hear they are waterproof. Still wondering where can you purchase them? Also, know you need to put key card in to a slot by the door in your cabin for lights etc. to work. Question is....can you use any other type of card to accomplish this?

Yes, but it has to be an RFID card. Many hotels have gone to those, so we use an old RFID hotel room card.
