  1. 2 bags a day, heard of people doing 1 bag a day but not 2

Two bags a day but usually they are only a quarter full or less. Even though I keep a collapsible hamper in the closet I like to get dirty clothes out of the cabin as soon as possible. Its nice to keep a cabin smelling good, you know with sweaty workout clothes, etc.

  2. Just curious ... 2 bags a day, each day???

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320A using Forums mobile app

Yes twice a day starting with embarkation before dinner and ending the morning before the last full day. We were lucky this season, nothing was damaged. As a precaution I do not put in collared shirts (except tux shirt) and slacks anymore. I am still looking for the pin holes in my tee shirts that a lot of people talk about but I have not seen any, maybe my eyes are the problem. :)

  3. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Royal Princess laundry. We are Elite and have taken a 10 day cruise on her every month from NOV to MAR this season and the Royal has virtually gotten the laundry back to us the next day. I would always put out a bag in the morning and a bag before dinner. Yes I realize the number of elites onboard is factor but we have had several 700 elite numbers on the Royal this season.

We did 2 Regal 10 day halloween cruises the last 2 years and the laundry took several days.

  4. Be careful with this because your ID needs to all match with your passport and drivers license

I am not changing a address for loyalty OBC, just pointing out that information on the profile like an email address will not automatically transfer.

Also since you brought it up, a U.S. passport does not have an address listed.

  5. It didn't work to me. Perhaps it has to be don't prior to making a booking.

    .

Did you change the address in the guest information for the cruise in addition to the profile information. Changing it in the profile will not automatically change the guest information for a specific cruise. We found that out when we did an email change

  6. We were told it's because they don't want to move the other 2 lounge chairs out in front of the cabana, not enough room. All 4 can be in the cabana a the same time, they just won't move the lounge chairs.

They try to book the loungers in front of the cabana next to the glass for the other two people that are going to use the cabana. Four people fit comfortably inside the cabana.

I just mentioned the fact that the other two people have to have loungers in the sanctuary to illustrate that two couples can not book the cabana and then split the $220 to save money.

  7. I am confused about the headsets too!!!!

This would be for the loungers, not the cabanas...

I see the things like pods that stand there with the chairs.

    How are they involved?

So, it sounds like you get a individual free-standing 'box' like an ipod or something???

    Totally mobile and portable?

On the Royal headsets are only for the sanctuary cabanas. They are not wireless as the headphone is wired to a small box, from there it is wireless. Nothing for music is provide anymore to people renting regular lounger chairs in the sanctuary.

  8. On the Regal, are the lounge chairs directly in front of the sanctuary cabana (on the cabana “porch”) for exclusive use of the cabana renter or are they part of the general sanctuary reservation system? If I rent a cabana, I would love to have use of the soft lounge chair as well.

The 2 lounge chairs are part of (included in) the sanctuary cabana.

You can have 4 people per cabana but the other two people have to have chairs assigned to them somewhere in the sanctuary. I assume they came up with that rule to limit noise from a bigger group gathering in one cabana.

  9. Just bumping this thread because some asked me to report back.

Thanks for reporting back. You made the right decision to book a later flight. It's just not worth the worry.

We do not like trying to catch super early flights but as you saw it is possible. We have caught numerous flights between 7:45/8:10 with checked bags. Your right about the need to Q up early on the ship, as you reported it cost you 10 minutes.

  10. On the Feb 28th sailing they offered a 12:15 performance on embarkation day for those that knew about it. We attended, thinking it would be something special & different, but it wasn't.

I suppose it relieved some of the crowding for the regular night shows although it was still packed. SRO.

The 12:15 show on Feb 28 was scheduled for the press and Carnival management types so they could view the show and then get off the ship.

  11. Not sure what you’re talking about as there’s no such thing as “eliminating ordering a different drink” at the Most Traveled lunch or cocktail party. You can order whatever and as many drinks as you want at the Most Traveled. With only forty people with the most days cruised invited, why would they give out a ticket?

And with that cutback in addition to other reductions in benefits, having passengers avoid them could be their goal to save money & to even remove something due to a lack of passenger participation.

Posts have said that the more expensive less desirable drinks at the nightly Elite/Platinum/Suite cocktail party have resulted in them not attending it. A less desirable Captain’s Cricle Cocktail party has resulted in fewer passengers attending them. The elimination of chocolate covered strawberries for elite level passengers on formal night has resulted in us not ordering their gourmet appetizers.

All of these apply to me & the net result is a savings for Princess. Although we’re probably in the minority because anything that is free still attracts large crowds of passengers. ;)

I've talked to 4 other couples in the last few days and they've all indicated that since they've eliminated the ordering of a different drink then what was served it just nor worth the effort to attend.

I still don't know why they don't just give everyone a ticket when you enter & let you choose the drink of choice, similar to what they do for the Medallion cruisers.

Floridalover is taking about the Captains Circle party. It was in direct response ( with quote) to another poster who was referring to Captains Circle party not the MT gathering.

  12. You are correct. I meant to say the cabanas that you rent.

We had one family that had a lot of people and had the TV without headphones. There were more people in the cabana that there should have been on our 2016 Regal sailing. They were some executives or high rollers and their family and nothing was said to them.

If anybody is interested, the rule for the cabanas is a max of 4 people and the other 2 people must have chairs booked in the Sanctuary.

  13.

Being that there are TV's in the gazebos which make noise as well as the fact that you can hear MUTS and bands that play by the pool, it's never been super quiet where I always sit in the Regal Sanctuary which is the same as the Royal. I always sit in the area where you first walk in and has the sun.

There are no TV's in the gazebo on the Royal/Regal. The four cabanas have a TV but only for use we headphones.

  14. I never knew that they listed it either until wallyj mentioned where to find it.

It's not under the "Payments & Credits" section as you would think.

It's listed under "Boarding Pass & Travel Summary" and then under "Print Travel Summary" at the bottom. It only appears about a week before you actually cruise.

Our loyalty credit showed up the same day you reported it on CC for the same cruise we are both on. Until recently I never really paid attention to the Travel Summary.

  15. Thanks for the information, just one more question...how windy was the balcony on the crossing?

    Such an old thread.

We did a crossing in M107 last year and have cruised in M107/108 on many other cruises. Everything depends on the wind direction in relation to the ships direction. If the ship is headed into the wind then you may have 50 knots of wind over the balcony which makes it unusable. The opposite can happen and it can be quite nice and calm on the balcony at sea but that is not the norm. On our crossing (west to east) the balcony was usable (pleasent) maybe 2 out of the 7 crossing days. If using the balcony at sea is of utmost importance to you then you may be dissapionted.

The balconies in M107 and M108 are on the front and side of the cabin so we could go to the front and the railing blocked the wind.

This is true but when you need to hug the railing or hid from the wind in the corner it's not a pleasurable experience for us because you have no visual and you have the wind noise to boot. However, M107/108 are our favorite cabins in the ship.

  16. There are four club class cabins on the Royal class ships that truly make a difference and they are M107/108 and L107/108. If we can get M107/108 ( gigantic balcony and a completely different and bigger cabin layout) for a reasonable price then we book them and consider club class dinning as a freebie because we would of booked it anyway, cub class or not.

  17. Those balconies are spectacular. We even hung a hammock out there. It was awesome!! They are wider and longer than a regular balcony and are awesome when coming into and sailing out of ports.

I agree completely but some people will not. We have sailed in L101/102 and M107/108 many times on the Royal/Regal. We feel L101/102 are the best value on the ship and M107/108 are truly spectacular.

However, some people cannot deal with the possible wind issues and the metal plating below the railing on the balcony.

The emergency bridge is actually directly below between M101/102.

  18. There have been posts about Princess book clubs before, but has anyone had recent experience of these? Princess still posts a list of suggested books on its website but on the last cruise we did in September 2017 there was no sign of a book club and nothing in the Patter.

Off the Royal yesterday and they did run book club. I picked up the book for my wife. I don't remember what the title was, something like "Into the Water" from the author of "Girl on a Train". Book club was listed in the patter.

  19. Also, if I don't use up all the OBC can I go into the casino, put down a few hundred dollars, gamble a few dollars and then cash out and receive most of the few hundred dollars back in cash? Never did this before (haven't been in a casino in years) so not sure how it works.

We have used the casino to recover our OBC. We used the extra cash for additional tips but regardless it beats waiting for a check.
