  1. Can I get a few recent (last 30 days) that the new door opening time for Terminal 2 is 10:00AM instead of 11:00AM as last season. I understand boarding remains the same 11:30 to 12:00.

    Thank You.

It won't let me correct the spelling in the subject line. Sorry

  2. Oh, but I do enjoy meeting the "hired help". I've made good friends with many over the years & always find a few old ones on every cruise.:)

I agree with you. Of course we enjoy the normal things about cruising but over the years people including crew members that we have befriended have become important to us. :)

  3. On Feb 18th, we are getting off the Silhouette (29) and B2B on the Royal (21). Hoe far apart is Docks 21 and 29. On the map it does not look far, but is it walking distance with luggage, or still a cab. Hope to get off the Silhouette later in the schedule, and just go over to the Royal and wait or board as soon as we can.

I do not have any experience with Terminal 29, however if you blow up Google Earth it appears that the first half of the walk there are no sidewalks until you get to Eller Dr. I like to walk but I think a taxi or Uber is the only practical way to go. If you take a taxi the minimum fare is $10.

  4. We've returned with 8 in port and it was a bit crazy outside of the terminal. Should be interesting departing with 7. I was hoping to see T2, but once I knew that Royal wouldn't be ***** I figured we'd be bumped out. Oh well, something to look forward to on a future cruise.

You will get to see T2 on the return. Nothing to see when your rushing to get out of the building though.

  5. Thank you for that! How did you find that so early on?!!

I wonder if the Crown will come back to Terminal 2 since they are the only ship in port that day.

Upper right, hit "Query" then "Show All" instead of 7 days and give it a start date. Some times it only goes out a month but now it shows to the end of Feb.

Crown is coming back to 2.

  6. In looking over all the offers that came via email, I notice that there are a few leaving all on the same day. What happens when there are 3 Princess ships in port?!!

The Regal, The Royal and The Crown are all leaving on Sunday Feb. 18th. I know Princess uses Terminal 2 and Terminal 21 but where does the 3rd ship go? I would assume the Regal will get Terminal 2 with the Ocean Medallion.

The schedule is out for Feb 18

    Regal 02

    Royal 21

    Crown 04

    Allure of the Seas 18

    X Silhouette 29

    Zuiderdan 19

    Koningsdam 26

  7. Did you experience this and did it hamper your view at all? We have a tentative booking unti 5 p.m. tomorrow, so we'll see.

If you are setting in a reclined position then you cannot see the water. In fact if your sitting in a normal position you need to be rather close to the rail to have a nice view.

We bring 7 inch fiberglass risers along to help with that problem. We have also done the hamck thing but for us it was not worth it.

  8. M107/108 are our go to cabins. L106/105 and M106/105 have a nice balcony but pales compared to M107/108. L106/105 and M106/105 are a wider cabin than the normal mini suite but shorter which put the couch across from the bed. L107/108 are nice cabins also with a similar but not identical two room layout as M107/108. The most depressing fact is if your in L106/105 or M106/105 then the people in M107/108, L107/108 have a much nicer cabin witch is the same (price point) category.

  9. Fair point. But the norm in the travel/cruise industry is that the rewards go to those in the know. For example, we would never book a cruise directly with a cruise line (unless we planned to later move it to a cruise agency) because we can always save 7-10% (when netting for OBCs and other amenities) by using various cruise agencies. Do we feel sorry for those that insist on booking direct? Or how about the stockholder credit that we get on every CCL owned cruise line every time we cruise. Should we feel sorry for those that don't take advantage of this long time benefit.? or...How about all the veterans who have never applied for the Princess OBC given to eligible Vets ?

    Hank

There is a difference between ***** OBC and choosing a method of booking a cruise or failing to take advantage of stockholder or military OBC. With booking a cruise, stockholder or military OBC the passenger is in control of the situation. As far as I can tell with ***** OBC being granted, there is no official policy. The passenger has little control because that person is at the whim of the Princess agent on whether OBC is granted.

  10. The bottom line is that Princess grossly over promised the ***** rollout time table. They were listed as ***** cruises when booked. For some people the promise of a ***** cruise was enough of a catalyst to book the cruise but for most it was not.

The problem is Princess could of just said no OBC or they could of had a consistent policy and been very specific on which ships/cruises can be granted OBC for no Ocean Medallion. Instead it has not been a consistent approach by Princess. On one of my two cruises where I received OBC, it took two calls after the first one was rejected. On CC there have been many posts where the Princess agent would reportedly say things like “thats a rumor”, “that has not been determined”, “Regal only” or just a simple “NO”. At the same time other agents are saying yes.

It is human nature to ask for something that others are getting and since Princess is responsible for promoting something that they are unable to deliver, I feel there is nothing dishonest about asking for OBC

I can’t wait for our next Princess!

  11. To get the onboard credit, should I call Princess directly, or should I call my travel agency to make the request?

I had my TA do it but Princess does not have a consistent policy regarding this issue. For the Royal Feb cruise it took one call but the Royal Mar cruise took two calls after the first one was rejected.

  12. Today I received 100 pp OBC for the 20 Mar cruise although it did take two attempts. It did show up on the personalizer as "Customer Goodwill". I all ready have OBC for ***** for the 18 Feb (on booking sheet $100pp) cruise but not on the personalizer. So the next mission is to get that on the personalizer. .

If anybody is still having problems getting your OBC to show up under Payments and Credits, here is the deal.

If the agent granting you the OBC for no ***** makes a manual adjustment for the OBC then it can not be seen under Payments and Credits in your personalizer. However if the agent selects the button "Customer Goodwill" instead then it will show up in your personalizer. I had them change the manual adjustment ***** OBC for our 18 Feb Royal cruise to a "Customer Goodwill" entry so I could see it.

  13. I would not recommend planing on walking to the port terminal especially if youe ship isn’t at terminal #2. Earlier this month when boarding the Royal it was docked at pier #21 which is about a mile from the security entrance nearest pier #2 and the route isn’t one you would want to walk with luggage.

Just my honest opinion and advice.

    Chris

I agree that walking only works for terminal 2. You can pull the schedule for Port Everglades a month ahead of time.

  14. Has anyone walked from Embassy Suites to the Port? It looks walkable if one does not have too much luggage.

Yes its very walkable, did it last month from the Embassy Suites. The Renaissance is our normal hotel and is a much easier walk. We really enjoy the pre cruise walk to terminal 2. We are able to do it with the luggage on wheels, a roller bag with a big duffle on the hook so only one hand is needed and the other free. Whether a 10 day or a 38 day cruise it works for us. Rest assured we are not doing it to save money, we look forward to the walk.

  15. YES!!! this makes A NIGHTMARE at FLL!!! and supply and demand come into play!!! My same 84.00 ticket in February was 249.00 .. Same DL 9am flight!!! did this on 5 November 2017...we had 6 ships in port!!!

We were on the Regal Nov 5 and we were #5 into port out of 7 ships that morning. The Royal was over at 21. If your at the tip of the spear (first 10 or so off) it doesn't seem to make a difference. We were at the gate by 6:58AM.

  16. It happened when I was a few steps from the door. There would be an access granted message on the iPad-like thingy on the wall and then a green light would appear on the door. Sometimes there was a few second delay between the two but it worked pretty well most of the time.

What is your feeling on ***** regarding the Regal as I know you just got off. Are they continuing to increase the number of cabins. How was embarkation different. You had perviously mentioned things that worked but what if anything did not work?

    Thank You!

  17. This has been my prior experience as well. If you are in the first group or two off, no issues with customs/taxi's etc. It's part of why I asked, we would be in the first group off in this scenario.

I don't know why people get so worked up on this issue. You were just asking for recent experiences with express walk off regarding early flights.

Everybody knows all the hazards and mine fields with early flights. It's not like you were asking for their advice or blessing on the issue.

  18. I started a thread ....have you ever booked an early flight AND not made it....please post when sitting at the airport waiting standby or shelling out more $$ for another flight. Let us know what happens

We were on the same Regal Halloween cruises together and we made an 8:00AM flight. We were at the gate a few minutes before 7AM. Now, I don't recommend it but if every thing goes right it is possible. We can change flights at no extra costs so our travel plans are flexible.

  19. Hi folks,

About to take my first cruise in over a year, and just booked the Regal out of FLL in March. I've noticed the last year or so they show the arrival at 6am (it used to be 7am). Are they starting express walkoff before 6:30am now?

I'm looking at using an award ticket for a flight down and back from home, but the return time flight is at 7:45, and I wanted to see if express walk off does begin at 6:30, I could probably make that work.

Anyone done express walk off around 6:30am?

    Thanks!

Things need to go right and I would not recommend it but it can be done, we have made flights that early (7:30-8:15) many times.

The Regal and the Royal plan to arrive at the pilot station at 5:00AM with Walk off "A" normally starting between 6:15 and 6:40. If your in the first group off there is no wait at customs and no wait for a taxi. The airport is a ghost town before 7AM so checking bags and security is not a problem. From our experience if your at the head of the spear it does not make any difference how many ships are in port.

The problem is, is it worth it to you to try to make that early of a flight because if your not completely comfortable with plan B then it can ruin your cruise worrying about it.

The best plan is any flight after 11AM.
