  1. As stated before, do what you feel comfortable with. You will still feel comfortable dressing up if thats what you want, you still see nice dress's and black suits/tux's.

You have people who snicker at the people who dress up and people who look down on the people who no not. Who cares it's your vacaution.

For the record we dress for formal because that's what we like.

  2. HMMMMM

    It looks a bit cramped

Seems odd to have the sofa across from the bed. That means no separate seating area.

We do have club class, but I wonder if it is worth it

We have stayed in L105 before and yes it's different with the sofa across from the bed. I prefer the traditional mini suite set up for the cabin but I would rather have the big balcony of L105. The depressing fact is if your in L105, the cabin next door L107/108 is much bigger and has a bigger wrap around balcony for the same price. The same can be said for M105/106 vs M107/108. Our go to cabins are M107/108.

  3. We did lose the service on our TV all day Thursday and up till 3pm Friday. We heard others saying they lost TV from late Wednesday until Saturday. We received 100 per person OBR and should be receiving our check 4-6 weeks after the cruise. We were in a regular balcony stateroom (not a deluxe balcony stateroom). I'm guessing those in a mini suite or regular suite probably got more since they paid more for their staterooms or suites. That's the only thing that went wrong on the cruise and it didn't affect our great time and wonderful cruise!

We also received 100 OBC per person. We ran it through the casino to receive cash so we did not have to wait for a check. It was a great cruise.

  4. We have booked a category DZ guarantee (Deluxe balcony obstructed). We will be very happy with DZ! In case we get upgraded, will it be to another deluxe balcony, or is a balcony unobstructed considered an upgrade? I hope we get to keep the deluxe category.

You will probably get upgraded to a Deluxe balcony that over looks the top of a life boat just because there are more of them and many DZ passengers like to hang to that category.

  5. Had to smile when we saw Martyn (he was the CD on our previous two Regal cruises). Overhead somebody congratulate him on his promotion and he responded that being the ED was not really a promotion......but he did get a uniform :).

    Hank

Yea ... We asked him how he likes the whites and he said he doesn't. I've been told more money but stuck in the back office.

It will be fe fun to see our favorite CD and now ED Ron Goodman in a white uniform at the end of the month. Martyn is stealthy looking in whites but Ron not so much.:)

  6. Everyone reporting back so far has especially loved being able to walk in with no waits. :)

For us the big benifit is the hospitality with no wait and everybody knows your name which includes great service. It truly makes us feel special like the old days.

We are elite so normally it is not worth the extra cost but it comes with our favorite cabins M107/108 on the Royal class.

  7. The 8th night of the cruise we were joined by a couple who had previously been in the Fixed Late Sitting. They said their waiters were awful, the Maitre d was never to be seen and they finally got fed-up and decided to go to Open Seating (in a different MDR). They were quite happy in Open Sitting and had all of our dinners in the Concerto Dining Room, where the Maitre'ds and all the staff were wonderful.

    Hank

We made the fixed MDR for 6 nights before we gave up. At first we thought we were spoiled because we are usually club class due to our favorite 2 off cabin but we realized the food selections were less (same for everybody) and the service and hospitality was below par.

  8. I

However we did notice a decline in food selections toward the end of the cruise. One night we did dinner in the Horizon Buffet and was not delicious.

    Ron

We got off the Regal last Sunday and as far as fixed MDR goes the only different was less selects then last year. Also we never saw our head waiter. The horizon court was normally great but no steamed rice, as they had other types of rice.

  9. We had a better experience on the Royal which is the sister ship to the Regal.

Funny, thinking about it, we sailed the Oasis before the sister ship Allure and felt the same way. :D

We also had a good time on the Regal but overall we have had better experiences on the Royal. I can't explain it but for us the vibe is better. It has been consistent too, with 34 days for the Regal and 80 days on the Royal in the last 12 months. Looking forward to going back to the Royal on 25 Nov for B2B.

  10. Just off the Regal on Sunday.

We boarded in group 3 after elites and headed up to the Sanctuary.

Reserved two half a days (sea days) without a problem. One person was ahead of us when we arrived.

We had a call the day after and was told one day was double booked by accident, so they moved us to another area and also gave us use of the cabana. Which was VERY nice of them to do.

DH enjoyed watching a football game. :)

I thought Luigi was a very good sanctuary manager on that cruise.

  11. Yes I was referring to the ones at the retreat pool- the cabana in sanctuary - how many people does this include?? I am travelling with my husband and 20 year old daughter- so I would like for all of us to share in the experience together. We should be onboard relatively early as we have club class and have priority boarding...we plan to haul our butts up there quickly to do this as soon as we get on the ship. Thanks.

The sanctuary cabana can only be booked for two people but can be used by 4 people but the other 2 have to have loungers booked in the sanctuary. They usually try to book the additional 2 people in the chairs straight ahead of the cabana on the glass. As far as moving chairs to different locations, it is not normally allowed depending on the sanctuary manager.

  12. Do you know how the zones are laid out? I will be on the Regal in the very near future...

There are 7 zones on the ship regarding cabins. If your cabin # starts with 1 your in zone 1 and so on.

I ‘m not are how accurate the following is but we were told 102 cabins in zone 3 were going to be the first group tested. I have not looked to see if cabins in zone 3 have the new doors yet but I did see that cabin L204 has the new door hardware and iPad type device mounted on the wall to the right of the door. There is no slot for the cabin key but we were told the cruise card can open the door by holding it close to the door like hotel room keys.

  13. I didn't think this cruise was part of the the testing for the medallions.

You are correct that passenger testing has not started yet. Only corporate types are currently testing the medallion onboard and only during certain hours.

The captain did make a special announcement and apology regarding the TV’s being inop for 3 days and counting.

I miss the TV for the news as back ground noise while getting ready for dinner and the wife likes the on demand movies during bed time.

  14. It’s been 3 days and counting with no TV on the Regal. All we are told is that IT is working on it and we are not the only cabin affected. The ship is divide into 7 zones and all cabins in zone 1 are affected. Also we have no TV in the sanctuary cabana.

It’s all part of the Medallion project. They have 102 cabins in zone 3 testing the medallion on this cruise.

Captain said when we get back to Port Everglades they are mounting 2 more round satellite globes on the ship. Eventually he said that Princess is going to tout the fastest internet on the sea’s but right now I want our TV working.
