  1. As per the title, I just went to my account to see if Carnival gift cards were available (they are at the moment) and there's an announcement about the SMART REWARDS program being discontinued. Please see your account for the details.

Points will not be transferrable to their new program so use them while you got 'em! I think they're usable through the month of October.

  2. From the Carnival FAQ's:

    • Carnival Gift Card: If guests use a Carnival Gift Card for their Sail & Sign deposit, any refundable overages will be refunded in the form of a new Carnival Gift Card.

I know it says that but I've always gotten a check a week later. Maybe if it's $100 plus?

  3. I took my mother's ashes with me on my Carnival Miracle cruise last October. I went to Guest Services upon boarding and asked about giving them an ocean burial and let them know they were in a water soluble container and didn't have to be scattered. They were able to schedule it on my birthday (which I wanted, mom's birthday was two weeks later). When the time came I met them at GS, then was escorted all the way aft by the GS Officer, the captain, and a security officer. They told me to take my time, but I was quick, just gave the container a kiss and tossed it into the water. The GS Officer said they would be giving me a letter and I didn't think anything of it. A few days later they gave me a lovely portfolio with a letter including the longitude & latitude, date and time, and her name, with a beautiful photo of the ship at night. It was much more than I expected and still brings tears to my eyes!

  4. Nothing wrong with the spa cabins but the spa itself is somewhat of a disappointment.......there are more steam rooms than the other ships that have Cloud 9, but that's not my thing. The Thalassotherapy pool is not as good or as large as on the Dream-class ships (and there are no shoulder massage faucets, etc), and it's in the same room as the heated loungers; it's just not as peaceful.

I am done with the Vista class, IMO it's poorly designed in many ways......one in particular is all of the obstructing beams; other ship designs seem to incorporate the support beams into the design in a way that doesn't obstruct views. The theater is a bit odd as well but I didn't spend much time there.

    The Bad:

    Baked Alaska...what a joke.

Most anything on the chocolate buffet. And I all about the chocolate!

haha, agreed, there's a reason it's labelled "choco"..........99% of it is not worth the calories!

I like the Grand Marnier Souffle, but they ruined the Bitter n Blanc; last time I tried it they put pecans in it and not enough chocolate. I like the chocolate panna cotta and the butter popcorn flan too........

  6. I would have said something. I have allergies also, and just like those people think they are entitled to smoke illegal substances, I am entitled to clean fresh air. I would be PISSED if I paid for a balcony and felt like I couldn't go outside for fear of an asthma attack. Doesn't matter what people's opinions are about marijuana, or the fact that people are more "perfect" than others......they chose to bring illegal substances on board and they are being disruptive in their usage of it. My health or my children's shouldn't suffer because someone else is being selfish.

I completely agree. I had to quit smoking because it turned out I was allergic ('doh), and now I can't tolerate smoke of any kind. No matter what you're smoking, I shouldn't have to inhale your smoke!

  7. Wow, my experience at Jiji's was just the opposite, I went there twice during the week. The bar drinks take a while because they don't have a bar, they actually have them made and bring them from somewhere on the Lido. The appetizer you didn't order was compliments of the chef, sometimes called "amuse bouche", but usually they mention that when it's delivered and they tell you what it is. I went early and alone, I'm sure that made a difference in my wait times, but I found the food to be chef's table quality.

Gabriel amused me but I wasn't all that impressed. I asked for something refreshing and got a cucumber drink. Didn't want a salad and a cucumber drink is already on the Alchemy menu. Asked for a cherry lime drink and got something that tasted like a cough lozenge. Luckily I knew the names of drinks I liked that were on the menu and was able to order them a few times. Gabriel is definitely full of himself!

I like the aesthetics of the ship but not necessarily the design......other ships have better incorporated their support poles!
