  1. That’s why I choose not to prepay gratuities. If perchance I don’t spend the OBC for other things or the other stuff is cancelled, the OBC will go toward gratuities.
  2. Speaking of attitude, writing a review while still suffering effects of the flu seems apt to increase the negativity of the review.
  3. That’s true, of course, of classic cases of influenza. Please remember that not everyone who becomes infected develops full blown symptoms of flu, probably due to partial immunity. Some may have mild symptoms. Up to 1/3 of infected people may be asymptomatic while infected, yet even they probably can spread the virus. People who are actively sick with the flu who disembark with the crowd, use public transport, hang around the airport, etc were almost certainly spreading the flu. Metaphorically speaking, when it comes to spreading the flu, the OP lives in a glass house and should not be casting any stones.
  4. They said 14 days for refunds. It has only been a few days now.
  5. Certainly those that used precruise OBC to pay for the Premier Package should have that OBC refunded to their accounts before their cruises, so it makes sense to prioritize those cruising soon who paid with OBC. The goodwill OBC also needed to be in those accounts. On the other hand, credits for the refunds for those that paid by credit card can be processed like all the others.
  6. It varies widely. A few get assigned quite early. Most later. A substantial number of gty’s are not assigned until a few days before the cruise. Most people booking a balcony guarantee get a BX. You are talk about a D4 gty. Is this group space with a travel agent? If so, I’d suspect it is a gty because no D4’s are available right now. I’d ask the TA if D4’s become available again, can you (and the TA) just pick one or do you have to wait for the cruise line to assign a cabin like a BX I don’t recall a substantial number of obstructed balconies on Adventure.
  7. It was day 4 as they were feeling sick before noon on CoCo Cay. Still, I agree they may have caught it from someone on board. They also may have spread it to others, as they were not isolated during disembarkation or during their flight home.
  8. Interesting that they started checking times outside the terminal building. For me personally, that’s probably nice. For the OP: if they are enforcing times and you cannot enter the building, either wait outside or walk to one of the nearby restaurants.
  9. Oops, I did not remember that Oasis does not have the dual entry bathroom…ignore that in my comments above. The bathroom is off the bedroom.
  10. In my experience at port Canaveral they have not been checking times to enter the terminal. So generally one can enter the building and go through security and check in despite a later time on the set sail pass. At that point, if the ship is not yet boarding, one is apt to be directed to be directed to seats designated for the time on the set sail pass. When boarding begins, suites/pinnacles, then key, the earliest time group is allowed by row. Of course, each group takes far less than half an hour, if the ship boards early, they will get to your seating row early. Of course, they could alter the process at any time.
  11. Yeah, I thought a late lunch was more likely to spoil your appetite than his. With three sea days plus embarkation lunch, you have lots of opportunities to use your UDP😀. I know your son is not a big sushi fan, but you might want to look at the Izumi menu. They do have other items, like noodle dishes. Izumi might be open for one of your sea day lunches. BTW, you may want to make reservations for all the sea day lunches you think you want as soon as you board. You can always cancel one or more of them in favor of non-reservation places like Johnny Rockets if you wish; while cancelling is pretty easy…reserving later might be challenging as others may have snagged the spots.
  12. If you don’t mind the long walk to the end of the ship, I’d choose the Aquatheater suite. On 11, that long walk will reward you with a wonderfully large balcony with side and aft views You will be able to see the show, though you probably want the see the Aqua show from the regular seats, too. The show looks different from the two vantage points…fun from both. Try to see it asap from regular seats, then you can reprise best parts from you balcony at will. The bedroom of the Aqua has a real door so you can have privacy. You can also put the kids down for a nap and close a door. OS just has a curtain that noise passes through…with a gap over the TV so light passes through, too. Not so great if you are up later than the kids. The Aqua also has a dual entry bathroom, so you don’t have to pass near sleeping kids to get to bathroom.
  13. How many sea days on your cruise? You may find Johnny Rockets open on port day afternoons. As long as you (can your teen spoil his appetite?) don’t spoil your dinner, keep that in mind, too, option for a JR stop. Wonderland is cutesy. I do not think a teenage boy (and probably not you either) will want to do that twice in one cruise. I think Jamie’s has a nice lunch menu. The dinner menu is similar with a few additions. I think you will find Jamie’s open on embarkation day for lunch. So, likely embarkation lunch, plus a dinner and maybe another sea day lunch at Jamie’s…unless you love Italian (like we do), you might not want to reserve another dinner at Jamie’s. Chops lunch menu lacks some of my favorites from their dinner menu. On the UDP, I tend to do Chops at dinner a couple times rather than dinner once and lunch once. Of course, the real steakhouse fans will eat there more than that….reserve lunches, too, if steakhouses are your thing. We like reserve 150 CP and reserve it twice. Look at the menu and see if it appeals to you.
  14. We travel are D+ and travel as a couple mostly 6-8 night cruises. We have limited internet needs. We generally share/spread our days similar to post #10. We use both of one partner’s days first. Before using the second partner’s we check the price of Internet for remainder of cruise less second partner’s benefit; sometimes the cost is trivial. To me factors I’d consider favors of purchasing internet precruise (rather than using only my D+ freebie) might include: length of cruise (the longer the cruise, the more likely precruise sale price will outweigh the D+ benefit), the individual’s need/desire for connectivity on that cruise (wanting or needing online access 24/7 weighs toward precruise purchase), precruise sale price (the better the sale, the more tempting), how well partners can share (some want/need to be online at the same time, so sharing would cause conflicts)
  15. Don’t worry. I regularly get OBC. The cruise planner displays the amount available to spend precruise (just like this time). When I don’t spend it precruise, it is available on the ship…it is On Board Credit.
  16. Some people complain about noise on deck 14 cabins, others don’t. Maybe it is cabin location or noise sensitivity or dumb luck🤷‍♀️. On some ships over the years people complain about hearing deck chairs moved in early morning hours. I don’t know that you will experience anything like this; I hope not. Some people avoid deck 14 because they worry about noise. When I do a mock booking for your cruise, I see available CP balconies on deck 12. If it were me, I’d politely ask to switch to one of those and see what they say (call your travel agent if you used one; Royal if you did not) we like the CP balconies. Hope you have a great cruise!
  17. Good point. Usually there aren’t any cabins left when people win RoyalUp, but I think there are in this case. I see 4 CP cabins on deck 12 right now. I’d ask to switch to one of those asap before they disappear
  18. I have not stayed in that cabin. There is a common concern expressed about any cabin on Deck 14 on Oasis class: there might be noise transmitted down from the pool deck above. I would take earplugs and perhaps download a white noise app for the phone. Hopefully you won’t need either one, but it is good to be prepared just in case. There are people who really like deck 14 as it is so convenient to the pool deck and WJ. Hopefully that will be you.
  19. Yesterday’s transient $100 OBC was not done in order of cruise dates. I had the $100 briefly on the 3rd of my 4 cruises chronologically; no activity in 1, 2 or 4. Maybe by ship? So far today no OBC has appeared for any of my 4 impacted cruises (the earliest is next month). I expect them to get it sorted out. I suspect most of the $50 OBC’s have not yet hit the accounts . Few if any refunds seem to have been completed. You certainly are not last. I’m 0 of 4 and waiting patiently. I’m glad you read the email content here if your email went astray (perhaps a by spam filter or misdirected to another account associated with your booking?).
  20. While I would not call Royal’s errors “nothing,” neither are they “complete disasters.” Royal apologized for the initial error and, though they have fumbled a bit, I think Royal is working on a resolution to include the promised OBC; I’ll be patient while they do so. I know which one of the above posters I’d rather have on my cruise.
  21. Again to each their own. When I’m in a balcony, I often submit bids for full suites, skipping the JS. We enjoy staying in full suites, though not at the recent full prices. So I bid the max the full suite upgrade is worth to me.
  22. And you really thought Royal IT would actually pull off a smooth fix? 🤣🤣🤣 Having purchased packages for four cruises, I am patiently waiting for four refunds.
  23. When they offered $50 OBC and deposited $100 OBC, I anticipated a correction. I’m glad I did not spend the erroneous amount.
  24. The OBC seems to be a work in progress. I bought the package for four cruises. A $100 OBC was deposited for one cruise (the third one chronologically). The credit was there for a few hours. Now it is gone again. Hopefully RCI will get their act together and I will eventually get all four refunds and some OBC.
  25. I’m happy with the apology…and the OBC.
