  1. The routes were one stop. This year to Barcelona we are on Air Canada.

The only flight issue we have had in the past was on a return flight the second flight in NJ was cancelled. But they put us up in a hotel for the night. We didn’t have our luggage do that was a pain. But it all worked out at no extra charge and we received a voucher for the airline. Yes we also use our frequent flyer number to get the points.

  2. We have many cruises with Windstar and have always booked our flights with them. I do compare prices but there has never been much of a difference. If fact we cruise in July and Windstars flights for that cruise were actually a few hundred dollars cheaper than anything I could find.

In addition we always arrive a couple days early and leave a couple days after the cruise so there has never been an issue with flight/cruise times.

  3. Forget everything you know about cruising. Prepare for premiere service, 5 star meals, no big entertainment venues, and enjoy the wind in your face and relax.

And don't be surprised if the Captain knows your name after two days too.

  4. I am 115 Days from sailing and I called today as one of my cruises on my upcoming B2B price dropped dramatically today. They honored the new price! They said it was because I had booked early and was a long time customer. Two other couples going with us were not so lucky. One couple doing the B2B but first time with WS got 1/2 of what we received and the other couple was only doing one week received $150 ship board credit. So it all depends.

  5. I am booked on a B2B for July 2018, and 5 days within the 120 new price assurance policy.

Windstar today dropped the price of our first week to a much lower fare than we booked it at.

I just got off the phone with them and they honored the new listed price! The twist was they had to cancel my existing reservation to get me the new rate- which is $1900 LOWER!

    Great customer service!

  6. Love love love the planning stages of any vacation. My wife and I alternate the vacation we do every year. One year we do a long motorcycle ride the next a cruise. It’s the same but different. Every day we are in a new location. But the mode of transportation is different. I start planning about 9 months out. Each of our stops. Yelping the best places to eat. Best route. Spread sheets and maps. It’s part of the fun.

  7. WINDSTAR FARE PRICE ASSURANCE POLICY: Guests who purchase a cruise on Windstar will be eligible for reimbursement upon request if the fare published by Windstar for their specific departure and cabin class is reduced after they have made a booking and deposit, and if the request is received by Windstar at least 120 days prior to sailing.

The reimbursement will be provided in the form of a shipboard credit, upgrade, fare reduction, or a future cruise credit. Windstar will determine the form of reimbursement, and the amount of reimbursement will be the difference between the fare actually paid by the guest and the published fare on WindstarCruises.com the day the request is received.

... Looks pretty clear to me.

  8. The only issue I ever had with luggage when cruising was when my 6-bottle wine carrier was stuck in customs in Venice and was not released until after we sailed. The host on the Wind Surf contacted customs and arranged for the case to be shipped (no charge) to Rome. When we docked in Rome I saw my wine case on the deck. They delivered the case to my room, with all wine bottles intact. I gave the host a bottle of wine for their effort.

While this issue had nothing to do with Windstar, they went out of their way to satisfy a customer.

  9. Wow I was not aware of this. In the past I was able to add price discounts and Sail and Stay packages when they were offered closer to my cruise dates.

This does suck- I always watch the fares to see if I can get better ones- I already did on my B2B booked for July- but was hoping for more.....

    Oh well
