  1. Thank you for your review. I realize that the Sunshine is a refurbished older ship, but there certainly seems to be far more negatives than positives from passengers during the past year.

I believe when it comes to the Sunshine I'll stick to the ('When in doubt, don't') philosophy...

With all of the time & money that is put into a cruise, the Sunshine is just not worth it.

  2. Don't worry about your September 13th Sensation 4-day sailing.

If the Sensation cannot dock in Nassau or Freeport, consider that an upgrade or bonus.

Especially if another port or a sea day is added in place of either one of those destinations.

    :)

    PortSideCruzan,

I'm very jealous that you had the opportunity to put on Ellie The Elephant's costume! Now that's a photo op!

Thank you for sharing that with us, along with a few other pic's as well. Very nice!

    Hi :)

I never destroy any of our towel animals during a sailing.

My wife & I are in our early 50's and we love them!!

    :)

During one of our B2B voyages, our special crew friends allowed me to put on the elephant towel animal outfit. Hahaha! It was a lil' hot in there.... Good times!! Terrific memories!!

  4.

Wow!! I haven't traveled on the Splendor in a couple years.

Glad the ship has a dry dock coming up on 3/06/16 to 3/20/16.

I typically won't book a ship 6 to 8 months prior to a dry dock, and at least 2 to 3 months post a dry dock.

Sorry to hear about the issues you had during your cruise.

We were on her in March. Our shower backed up every night when someone around us took a shower. Stinky sludge filled water would flood our bathroom. Every night the plumber came out and every night declared it fixed, only to have it happen again the next night. Every night after we called we had to wait for the plumber to show up. Sometimes it took up to two hours. For some reason they wanted us to be there. Guest services attitude made it seem that we were a nuisance for wanting our shower fixed. We never even received an apology.

I noticed walking around the ship that especially on deck 2 there were pockets of air that smelled like raw sewage. So I would avoid that deck.

The pillows and bedding in the room were worn and tattered as was the carpeting.

After 17 Carnival cruises it was the worst we have been on, even comparing to previous Splendor cruises that were fine.

We will still cruise Carnival, but never again on Splendor

  5.

Good to hear you're going to give the MDR another chance.

There WILL BE tablecloths for 'elegant night', that some Carnival cruisers refer to as 'DRESS UP NIGHT', LOL!! LOL!! Or even worse, 'lobster night', hahahaha!! Dress up night! Too funny.

Many of the finest restaurants in the world do not have tablecloths. Never understood the mentality of Carnival cruisers when it comes to tablecloths. It's actually comical.

The main dining room food beats the buffet hands down. Warning though, they have no tablecloths in the buffet.

But in the buffet they do offer some awesome cafeteria food. And just a few steps away from the cafeteria buffet you can get a luxurious burger & pickles from Guy's Burger Joint. Just what one yearns for after months of planning & all of the money invested into a cruise.... A burger from Guy's, LOL!!

Stick with the MDR & the steakhouse.. The buffet is ok for an occasional breakfast. If you want an outstanding meal, even better than the steakhouse, reserve a spot at the Chef's Table Dinner, you certainly won't be disappointed.

  6.

I would take a cabin on the Empress deck 7 for certain rather than deck 6, HOWEVER, cabin 7211 is a connecting stateroom. It connects to cabin 7207...

Having said that, I much rather have forward cabin movement than aft vibrations.

    ;)

  7.

    What a waste of $$$.

Sheesh.......You win the Cruise Critic award for making negative comments in as many FTTF posts as possible....

  8. :). Ya I know there are only thousands of Robert's who cruise, right? He was a character though. Southern drawl, very comfortable in the spotlight. He'd say..between verses.."There's room on the dance floor"...yeah, it was totally empty! I know reading this doesn't sound all WOW.

I was just wondering if anyone on this site had heard him sing. He was one of those people you meet on a vacation that you remember and smile.:)

    Bobbi

    Confused.....

    Robert is a passenger?? LOL!

Not a cruise director?? Or assistant cruise director? Or entertainment director?

  10.

Do you know what is done to prevent this kind of accident happening again also to other ships in the fleet?

I know these accidents is several years ago but maybe some one knows what CCL did to prevent these accidents to the other Wessels in the fleet ?

Back up generators were placed onto all Carnival ships..

  11. Seuss At Sea Breakfast

The special breakfast will take place once per cruise, typically on a sea day morning, in the main dining room at 8:30am and 9:30am.

Scheduling is based on itinerary, so you can check the exact day and time once onboard and then make reservations.

The cost is $5 per guest ($5 per child and $5 per adult).

Reservations are suggested but ‘walk-ins’ are welcome (space permitting); during peak seasons, reservations may be necessary. Reservations can only be made once on board. The phone extension is listed in the ‘Fun Times’.

Bright colors and patterns decorate the dining room and tables. The Carnival wait staff set the tone with Dr. Seuss-inspired uniforms.

The unique menu includes ‘Green Eggs and Ham’, brightly colored fruit, gravity-defying pancake stacks, funky French toast, ‘Moose Juice’ ‘n’ ‘Goose Juice’… and much more. Classic breakfast offerings are available as well.

Popular Dr. Seuss characters such as the Cat in the Hat, Thing One and Thing Two, and Sam-I-am will join guests for fun interactions and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities.

  12. The 'Forward Observation' decks that some refer to as secret decks, with secret doors, (LOL!) are a wonderful place to experience 'Sailaway'..

The forward observation decks are located on:

    Deck 6

    Deck 7

Deck 9 (on top of the bridge)

    Deck 10
