I was on the jewel earlier this month. Best wifi was in the library area, but I saw people using their iPads everywhere.
Great, thanks for letting me know! Guess I'll be spending a lot of time in the library :D

Looking forward to this thread as my birthday cruise will be on the Jewel.
I'd just be interested in knowing the best spots for wi fi as I'll also have my iPad with me.
Thanks!

I was brought over here through the solo boards and I'm so glad I did!
I'm also a solo cruiser and will be embarking on my next one in September from San Juan. This was an excellent review and you did a great job. All your outfits were great! Makes me want to start a cruise shopping fund LOL
Just a couple questions for you, if you don't mind. I'm going to San Juan a couple days early and would definitely like to check out the night spots like you did. Did you feel uncomfortable heading back to your hotel at that time of night? My hotel is right in OSJ as well, but I'm wondering how safe the streets are at 2,3am. The fact that your hotel was actually attached to a nightspot has me considering switching my hotel plans ... Now looking at it, Da House is considerably cheaper than what I have.
Also, for the tours that you went on, did you just join a public group or did they cater to you as a solo traveler? I'm also thinking of taking the ferry over to Anguilla since I've been to St Maarten before.
Thanks again for a wonderful review!!

30 and 179.
Funny enough, I'm more excited for the one that's farther away!! LOL

That is on deck 11 on the side of the Windjammer. Actually there is one on each side. But there is also and open area on the very back. We loved both. We ate there a lot.
Oh, that area is part of the Windjammer too?? I'm in love!! That is the main reason why I wanted to try this class of ships.
Thanks! :D I'm looking forward to the rest of your pictures.

I can't thank you enough for this review! Your pictures are amazing and it's making me even more excited for my sailing in September.
One question for you. In post #40, what is that outside sitting area and what deck is it located on? I can definitely see myself there with a drink and a book every evening.

Got a great deal on inside, 6th deck forward, TA to Southampton in April for 14 nights on Adventure of the Seas.
198.00 cruise
436.00 port taxes
59.00 insurance = $693.00
Agent said it is the deal of the century.:D:D
Worth waiting for! I believe it was the last inside.
Those are the kind of prices I like! I wish I had time available to go on that.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your father, but look at that sweet little boy! Life has a way of making you smile when you could be frowning. I'd be nibbling on those cheeks all day!
Congrats to you as Wes!

Don't post cabin number on the boards.
I hope everyone would be smart enough not to do that  that's asking for trouble.
I'm very involved in my Roll Call but have made no mention about specific details besides the fact that I will be on the ship. I have a blog that I post in when I'm traveling and I don't reveal where I am until I've left that destination. You have to be cautious all around.

Thanks for the information, it's greatly appreciated! I've already picked the packages I'll purchase for my next two cruises.
-
what kind of cabin do you book? inside/outside?
Great prices.
K
Always inside; I just want to be on the ship :)

Thanks for the heads up! Will be in San Juan during an upcoming cruise and I will definitely keep my eye out for him. It takes a lot for me to give money to someone on the street, so he would've been out of luck regardless.

Does Royal Caribbean ever send out emails to C&A members with solo specials? Or any special mailing list to sign up on?
I prefer to cruise out of Galveston or New Orleans so I think that limits me to Navigator and Serenade?
Sent from my Nexus 4
They do not send out emails about solo rates, but you can find good deals by just checking the website.
My Jewel solo cruise is $765 :D now, it's well over $1,000. It pays to look often.
Even my Liberty cruise is $699, but now it's over $800. I'll keep looking for price drops until final payment though.

Even though I was on the Allure in September, it's so great to see new pictures of the ship. When I first got home, I thought it was too big for me, but I would definitely go on there again and a balcony room would be a necessity.
-
My next solo is September on the Jewel of the Seas for my birthday and then next February on the Liberty of the Seas for Valentines.
There's nothing like cruising solo. I've done it twice before and I think I will start doing it every other year, or every year if I can afford it!

I've been on two solo cruises, the last one being a 9 night sailing, and I never felt unsafe at any point of my sailing. I'm very much a people watcher, so there have been times when I'm out of my room until 1am. When I'm walking back to my room, I usually always see a staff member around the area, which is comforting and I always put a chair behind my door when I'm in for the night, just in case someone tries to wander into the wrong room.
My next solo cruise will be in September and I can't wait. It's an older ship and the room I selected is near the elevator, so I'm happy for that.

Going through these pictures is definitely making me relive my Allure adventure.
My favourite spot on deck 5 was the Irish pub, don't remember what it was called right now. We had our bartenders who knew how to make the drinks strong and we just people watched nearly every day after dinner. It was great entertainment.
The Rising Tide Bar was nice too, but the chairs were so uncomfortable.

Glad to see you enjoyed the cabana! My next cruise to Labadee probably won't be until 2014, but I plan to rent whatever cabana-like accommodations they have at Coco Cay in April. It is such a luxury and my friend and I both had quality naps during our day there.

Chrystal!
I was so sad to learn about the death in your family and that you wouldn't be on our sailing, but I'm glad they were able to accommodate you and push your cruise back. By the looks of it so far, you had a great time. You captured some spots that I didn't get to. When I first got back, I didn't think I could do an Oasis class ship again, but after some weeks and looking through my pictures, I could go on the Allure again.
Congrats once again on the bundle of joy that's on his way! Looking forward to the rest of the review and especially how you enjoyed your cabana. I have been officially spoiled and will have to get one for all future sailings now. It was an amazing day in Labadee.

1 week from today!!! Today the allure is picking up her last group of passengers before I get on!!!
Same here!!! I can't wait until we get aboard :D

18, but 17 until my vacation actually starts ... this cruise has been booked since last August so to be this close is beyond exciting!

Your St Thomas tour brought back a lot of memories. I was also on a Bernards Tour in January and John was our driver. We went to pretty much all the same stops except Orient Bay and I have a picture with him holding a sea urchin.
Although he creeped me out a little (he kept making very suggestive comments that I just ignored), he absolutely catered to the kids in the group, which was nice to see. I'd use them again in the future.
Loving the review; keep up the good job!

Thanks for the pictures of the room! I'm in an inside cabin for my sailing and it looks so comfy in there! I love the blue chair as well. So looking forward to this cruise!
I'd be interested in internet rates as well. I'm glad to hear all the good impressions about this ship.
