  1. Last time we all cruised together, my boys were 15 and almost 21. I think my youngest charged game tokens or some such from arcade to the card. They both got soda or the non alcoholic drink package that we paid for. I can't recall which. My oldest bought a couple of souvenirs for his GF on shore. I think that was about it.

  2. You don't have to book with RCL. The decision is up to the buyer. :) I'm not sold on any cruise line. It depends on what I'm looking for and what I'm willing to pay for that experience. Our upcoming cruise was chosen because we wanted to try Oasis class. We had specific dates and know we always want a balcony. Allure fit the bill with a great price for 3. We can't wait and hope it lives up to the hype. :)

  3. I think Freedom and Oasis class are perfect to try for the ages of your girls. My then 14yr old ds and I liked Liberty of the seas so much that we did a family cruise the following year. My baby is now 18 and we have wanted to try oasis class so allure upcoming. The difference I find between Carnival and RCL: ships decor is much more subdued on RCL. I thought food options were better on carnival but dh and ds do not agree.

    Happy Planning!

  4. I would think carnival or RCL would be best choices for teens. They both provide lots of options depending on the kids' interests. We did Liberty a few years ago with a then 15 yr old and 20 yr old. It worked for a 4 day cruise. I do think ports are important with the older teen age group. When kids were young, we just went to beach. As they have gotten older, excursions are a much better option at least for my boys. For my upcoming cruise, my now 18 yr old wanted a large ship with many options during sea days. We also have active excursions booked in 2 ports.

    Have fun planning!

  5. My boys (under 21 ) got that package on a 4 day. It was a waste for them. They drink soda and 1 drinks specialty coffees and teas so that was ok, but not worth it for a 4 day. My dh has it for our upcoming cruise as he loves specialty coffees and will definitely use the bottled waters. My ds (18) has the soda package. He thought that work woke fine for him. We have 3 sea days and labadee so worth the cost. Im OK with iced tea and the water offered so not worth it for me. I will take Starbucks over RCL speciality coffees so will buy as I go..

    Have fun!

  6. Seems to be a win-win! A way to go along on vacation with a senior without them running loose 100% on their own! :)

I was going to mention this at the end during my "wrap-up", but our DD did not seem to have as good a time as an 18 yr old than she did when she was 17. Even though she was still in high school, she had just turned 18, therefore making her too old to hang out in the "teen" areas like the Living Room with the other seniors she met who were still 17.

Based on her experiences, there seems to be a gap with not a lot of things available for "young adults" (18-20) to do, so she ended up splitting time between the friends she made on the cruise when they were not in the teen areas and us.

So be aware of that in regards to the 18 yr old that will be with you guys...

Thank you. Last cruise, my older ds went so they had each other. Im not too concerned if he hangs out with us. Based on our experience with our older ds, this is probably our last "family" vacation for many years. He is looking forward to casino and adult solarium. :)
